Megan works as a tour guide a local historical mansion, but what she really wants is to teach history. Charles was the man who built the house back in the early 1900’s. One day in between tours, the man who plays Charles quits his job on the spot. A new Charles wanders in who seems to know an awful lot about the orignal Charles and does a wonderful playing him. Come to find out, it is the original Charles who has accidentally traveled to present day while trying to fix a clock he bought in Paris.
As Charles tries to learn how he got to present day and how he can get back to his own time, He also learns about life today and forms friendships with the cast of characters who work at his home.
This was a delightful Christmas romance book. In true Hallmark fashion, it was a clean and quick read. I did listen to this on audio and while the audio was good, I did not like how the narrator voiced Charles. I give it 3.5 stars.
I look forward to watching the movie now and seeing how it compares.
Thank you NetGalley and Hallmark for a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I received this book as an audiobook through Netgalley I'm exchange for an honest review.
In terms of an audiobook, I thought that the narrator was very easy to follow and had a very calm voice. I found that I often couldn't have my audio on a 1x speed and had to have it closer to 1.8x or 2x speed as I found it too slow and pauses too long for my liking. However I do understand that others may find her pacing at a 1x speed perfect for them and may help especially if someone has a hard time processing information quickly. Other than the pacing (which I can fix myself with the speed setting) I had no other real issues with the audio of the book and overall enjoyed my listening experience.
As for the actual book itself, I did find myself enjoying it and found it to be a cute holiday romance book. It does very much read as a Hallmark channel movie which as I'm writing this is the premiere for the movie. The story was really cute and was a sweet Christmas romance.
One thing that I was a little unsure of was the use of the term anxiety as the main male character comes from a time when I don't think that term had yet been normalized or potentially even come about yet. I also found it a little odd how quickly people came around to the idea of him being a time traveler. But really other than those pretty minor things it was an enjoyable read.
I honestly loved this book! Christmas themed story with TIME TRAVELING?! omg GIVE. IT. TO. ME! I went into this book with the expectations of a low budget Christmas movie on Amazon prime and came out with the high quality work of something I probably would have gone to see in theaters! I loved it from beginning to end without a bit of hesitation.
Megan is an actor at the local museum portraying Rosie, the head of the household staff of the previous owner, Charles Whitley. He disappeared mysteriously in 1902 before he was to marry his betrothed, Eliza. In his will, he left the house to Eliza and requested his home be turned into a museum. And that's exactly what she did. Megan loves history and with her new PhD in American history, she is hoping to do more than share her favorite stories of Mr Whitley's estate and amazing gifts he shared with the world, but to teach at the local university as well. But one day, someone in strange clothes and a bit off his rocker suddenly shows up in one of her tours in the study. A man claiming to be Charles Whitley himself! Yet the actor portraying him was supposed to meet the tour in the ballroom, not the study! Who could this man be who looked just like the missing owner of the estate? Incredibly enough Charles Whitley in the flesh had traveled from 1902, all the way to 2018. His sudden change of scenery is a lot to take in but with the help of an incredibly patient Megan, he begins to find his way through a century of world changes. Her kind heart and beautiful looks seem to help more than just his ability to adjust, but also begin to soften Charles's heart and they begin to fall for one another. The rest is, well, history!
5 stars! I am looking forward to watching this as a hallmark special this season!
This was a Christmas romance with a twist. Rather than coming from another town, the mysterious stranger comes from 100 years ago. Charles Whitley, an inventor who disappeared mysteriously in 1902, shows up in the present day in the house he used to own. This house has now become a museum full of reenactors for the Christmas season. One of those reenactors, Meghan, takes it upon herself to acclimate Charles to the new world he now inhabits. As Charles tries to discover how to get back to his old life, Meghan starts to wonder if she can create a new life with I'm in the here and now. It was definitely predictable, but an enjoyable Christmas romance nonetheless. If you do not need a big surprise at the end of your books, but want a Christmas feel good, this is the book for you!
This story breaks away from tradition just a bit, by introducing a time travel element...! (and yes, a bit of a sweet romance, as one might expect from a Hallmark Publishing book).
ISN'T THAT BOOK COVER JUST GORGEOUS?!
I'm extremely happy that I got to read "A Timeless Christmas" this holiday season. LOVE, love, love it. It's adorable. I love that the author has so much detail in the story, especially in the internal thoughts, because you understand the story so much better from the characters' POVs.
So if you're looking for a fun holiday (squeak clean) romance that will take you on a little adventure too... this is the one!

Megan Turner is working as a guide in an historic mansion once owned by millionaire Charles Whitley. Whitley had mysteriously disappeared in 1902. Megan has a bit of a crush on a photo of Whitley, and is gobsmacked when a man appears claiming to be the actual Whitley. It appears he has traveled through time.

I listened to the audiobook. This was a cute Christmas romance. This is a great book to listen too if you want to put a smile on your face while getting into the holiday spirit.
This was such a cute book! If you love Hallmark movies this is the book for you...and it has also been adapted into an actual Hallmark movie so I am super excited about that! I listened to this as an audio book and absolutely loved it. I loved the time travel element and the comedy that ensued because of it. And since I like these kind of things, I also loved the romantic storyline. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a sweet romantic novel or movie. You can check out the Hallmark adaptation Sunday November 15th.
I enjoyed this delightful audiobook very much. I listened to it in anticipation of the upcoming Hallmark movie based on the book.
Wow! I am blown away by this book. I love everything about this book it is my new favorite! historical fiction at its best with characters & a story line that every reader will love.
Megan Turner is a tour guide at a beautiful historic mansion where she tells visitors about its original owner, Charles Whitley. An inventor and businessman in the early 1900s, he rose from poverty to wealth…only to disappear without a trace Well, it seems he disappeared to the future. The story has a dual timeline where we learn about Charles in 1902. While repairing a clock to give his fiancee, something happens and he ends up in the future at the right time. The re-enactor who plays Charles for the tours has just quit and Charles ends up playing himself. As he learns about the future, Megan learns about the past, which she loves. They also learn about each other, Christmas traditions and their hopes and dreams. Does Charles have to return to the past or will he stay in the present day with Megan?
Once again, I was immersed in small town America. Christmas traditions and fun were shared throughout this story. The time travel plotline was well done. Of course no one believes him until he shared information and knowledge that only Charles Whitley would have. The friendship that develops between Megan and Charles was sweet and well written. He helps her to deal with a situation that has been causing problems and once resolved it helps her to reach for a goal and dream that she has. Charles is upset when he finds out what transpired after he disappeared and is adamant that he needs to return to 1902. Will love win out? Well, this is a Hallmark story after all. I very much enjoyed this one and recommend it to those who enjoy a HEA, the Hallmark way. The narration was performed by Kate Rudd. I have listened to other books she has narrated and do enjoy her work. She adds expression and tone to differentiate speakers as well as add excitement to the story.
Rating 4.5
I listened to the audiobook of "A Timeless Christmas" by Alexis Stanton and it was fantastic! Such a great listen right before the holidays. I loved the two main characters Megan and Charles. Megan is confident in her love of history but still feels unsure of her abilities to teach due to missing a letter of recommendation. Her inner conflict over Charles leaving felt all too real. She knew at times she was being selfish but due to her strong feelings she couldn't help herself. It was fun having Charles be introduced to cell phones and the internet. I liked that his character was not arrogant and allowed Megan to introduce him to the new world. While at the same time he was not like a child because he was still able to do things for himself. I liked that their relationship took steps and the reader could see their growing feelings/attraction for one another change from being friends to something more. While Megan did already have a crush on Charles in an old photograph I would not say this book has insta-love. The reader is shown through the characters interactions how they develop their feelings and how true love is created. I really enjoyed the writing style of this book. It was easy to follow and the descriptions of the town/museum were on point. The author did a great job of making the reader want to visit this town and go on a tour of Charles' house. Overall, I really enjoyed this story and I'm happy I gave it a listen. I am so excited to now watch the movie and see the book come to life in all its Hallmark magic!
Should you read "A Timeless Christmas"?
Yes! This is the perfect book to curl up with on a cold day. FIlled with a cute romance, love-able side characters, Christmas festivities, and time travel!
**Received an advanced copy through NetGalley in return for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own. **
This was a light-hearted, easy to read story that is perfect for the holidays. The characters are all easy to like, and I found myself invested in their stories. I think I would have enjoyed reading this one instead of listening because I would have enjoyed slowly savoring the story, however, the audio was great! Readers that enjoy a holiday romance will enjoy this one!
I was provided a gifted copy of this book for free. I am leaving my review voluntarily.
I started this audiobook and didn't read the synopsis, but when I saw that it was a Hallmark Publishing book, I knew I would probably like it! I was more pleasantly surprised than I expected! I thoroughly enjoyed the audiobook more than I thought I would, it captivated me more than many audiobooks I listened to do, and I felt that the narrator of this audiobook has a great voice for narrating. I enjoyed the storyline of this book and once I was about halfway through the book, I realized that Hallmark has the movie coming out a week after I started the book! Even though I know the books are always better than the movies, I'm still so excited! I felt that the time travel aspect was such a great idea, and different than a lot of what I read, and I loved it!
Thank you to NetGalley for this quick Christmas read! I wanted to love it, I really, really did....but the entire premise of the time travel Christmas story just didn't do it for me.
I am all for the classic Hallmark, cheesy Christmas movies, but this one was just not exciting, a bit boring and just lacked the chemistry that I've come to expect in a Hallmark Christmas story. It lacked the feel good Chrismtas vibe because it was just so far fetched!
I'm always excited when audiobokks are available on NetGalley. I chose the audiobook, and made it easier to finish the book! The narration was good, she did the best with the story she was given.
Overall, 3⭐ for me!

I loved this sweet Christmas story. I’m a sucker for Hallmark movie type romances, so this hit the spot. If you love all things Christmas and time travel, this book is for you!
I liked the book itself, but the audiobook was disappointing in quality. It sounds like a fake computer generate voice at anything higher than 1.25. I listen to all my audiobooks at 1.5 at the minimum. It got so annoying that I had to stop listening.
I had a hard time getting into the story at the beginning. The reader wasn't amazing but I was able to keep going and try to listen to more of it. I'm glad I stuck with it. It was a good story and very different than I have listen to before. Most stories that have time traveling are more science fiction and this wasn't. I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed it. It was a feel good Christmas story.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with a digital copy of this book!
I really enjoyed this story. Our heroine, Megan, works at a historic mansion of a man named Charles, an inventor from the early 1900s. One day, that man shows up in the present day, super confused about why his house is decorated for Christmas and all these people are in it. In the museum, there are people impersonating him, his fiance, etc., increasing his confusion. This story is hm trying to figure out how to live in present day, how to travel back to his time, and the romance between him and Megan as she helps him on these adventures. I thought the atmosphere was great, the romance sweet, and overall I would highly recommend this book.
SPOILERS AHEAD:
In the end, she says she loves him and asks him to stay and he says he can't, but then at the last minute, when he has figured out how to go back, he decides to stay. We know from the history books that he just disappeared and his fiance married someone else, so it wasn't a huge surprise, but it was cute.

I was very excited to see this pop up on NetGalley, as the Hallmark movie is premiering this November (2020). As an historian myself, this premise is right up my alley- getting to meet someone from the past, never mind someone that I have been studying?? That's the stuff of dreams! Charles Whitley is an interesting character, and I appreciate that he doesn't spend the book in an existential crisis on how he travelled through time. (This is a lighter book, I don't need that!) I loved that Megan was realistic- she also accepted the phenomenon of time travel, but tried to protect herself. And in true Hallmark fashion, the secondary characters in Megan's coworkers and friends were the perfect addition! This is definitely at the top of my to-see list now.
Kate Rudd was a wonderful narrator- this is a well-done audiobook. You know which character is "speaking", and she relays emotion well without being overly dramatic.
