Murder by circular knitting needle in the garden! The group of friends and neighbors in the Knit and Nibble have done sleuthing before and do well again this time. I like the recurring characters as much as the whodunit. Good series!
I requested and received a free temporary ebook copy from Kensington Books via NetGalley. Thank you!
Well, I'm looking at my circular knitting needles differently after reading this one! Pamela and Bettina find themselves in a quandry when Jane, a farm to table advocate and aspiring cookbook author is found strangled with a set of knitting needles in the community garden. What did she do to so enrage someone that they did this? And, more importantly to Pamela and Bettina, was the killer one of their knit and nibble group? Although there is knitting here, this is more nibbling (lots and lots about food). The mystery is nicely done and the characters have shown some growth over the series (but this will be fine as a standalone). Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. For cozy fans.
Pamela is ready to welcome Penny home for the summer. When a woman is found dead in the community garden, Pamela and friends are on the case. When the dead woman's mother is found dead in the same place and in the same manner things heat up in finding the killer.
This is a good read and a good addition to the series. It is well plotted and the killer is a surprise. There seems to be more internal struggles for Pamela in this book and I hope the resolution to her uncertainty about her personal life is soon resolved.
This is book 7 in the Knit and Nibble mystery series, I just love this series! Cozy mysteries are my favorite genre and this one is great. I feel like this last book is just as good as the first with the same humor, well developed characters and interesting mysteries that I’ve come to love and expect from the author.
Pamela and Bettina have their hands full trying to solve a murder that occurred in the community gardens. While on the hunt for the killer another murder occurs. A lo though alot of coffee is consumed by the characters this is a delightful read. Thanks #netgalley for the eARC.
I have a continuing problem with the likability of Peggy Ehrhart's main character Pamela in her Knit & Nibble Mystery series. Nothing has changed with my problem in the latest of the series 'Knitty Gritty Murder'. The murder mystery, however, is intriguing and kept me guessing until the end. I enjoy Pamela's relationship with her daughter and neighbor Bettina, but to me she otherwise has a bleak life and she again and again chooses not to improve it. While I stay for the mysteries, I am tired of the characters.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.
Witty, enjoyable read like a cozy mystery book should read. Characters who make you laugh, you find relatable and enjoy their story make it that much more enjoyable. As I was reading I wanted to learn how to knit!
4.5 stars
This is the seventh book in the A Knit & Nibble mystery series by Peggy Ehrhart.
I am not a knitter but I understand the passion for a yarn craft. So, when someone is murdered with a circular knitting needle, they need to find out if one of their own is involved. Great mystery, characters are the best part of this. They are the things that really keep you coming back. The mystery didn’t hold my attention as much as the interaction between the characters did.
Even if you are not a knitter, you can enjoy a crafty book like this one. I will definitely be picking up others in this series very soon.
If you like cozy mysteries, definitely check this one out. You won’t be disappointed.
I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.
Pamela and Bettina as best friends who like to knit and who are good at sleuthing. When a young woman is killed in the community garden with circular knitting needles, both women are curious. Who would want to kill Jenny and why. Would someone really kill for a space in the garden? As the women set out to just "Ask a few questions", the more confused they become. More suspects pop-up and motives are multiplying. Pamela ends up adopting Precious, Jenny's cat. Her own two, Catarina and Ginger aren't too sure of the newcomer.
I enjoy cozies, especially those that have a craft involved as in knitting or crocheting. The characters are fun and likable and the story is easy-to-read. It is a nice escape on a day when you are stuck in the house.
This is the seventh book in the series, and it has become one of my favourites.
I am not usually a fan of "knitting" cozies, but I quite enjoy this one.
The characters are appealing, and the whodunit kept me guessing until the final reveal (I did not guess correctly!)
I look forward to reading the next in the series.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
In this book Pamela and Bettina look to solve the murder of someone found in the community garden. It is as good as any other in the series. I think the writing has even improved (it has always been great) over the course of the series. I really look forward to each book release. I'm glad to see the Pamela character taking a chance and going out. It doesn't overtake the cozy murder mystery and gives her character a new side to explore.
I am not impressed. I wanted to dnf on page one but made myself read the first couple of chapters. The dialogue is so unnatural. I had high hopes for it because that cover is super cute and it is an interesting storyline. Unfortunately, this was not a winner for me.
This is such a fun series, and I had a great time with this cozy mystery. I loved the plot, the twists and turns, and the characters!
A knitty Gritty Murder is the 7th book in the Series by Peggy Ehrhart.
What a wonderful story involving a group of knitters and a community of gardeners but when one of the gardeners is murdered with a circular knitting needle,
Pamela and Bettina are quick to get involved to solve the murder. But as the female sleuths dig further into the garden community to prove a fellow knitter was not the guilty person, they find secret after secret in the community garden.
I laughed, second guessed myself of whodunnit and actually got a little hungry with all the wonderful foods that were mentioned in details.
I loved the this book, the personality of each person, a little romance and the humor!
Pamela Paterson lives in Arborville, New Jersey and works for a crafts magazine doing online editing of articles. Her daughter Penny is finishing college in Massachusetts, but has returned home on break. Pamela also has two cats, Catrina and Ginger, that keep her company when Penny's gone.
She also started the Knit & Nibble group, where a group of knitters meet once a week at rotating homes to work on their projects and enjoy a dessert made by the host. But the talk this week centers on the death of gardener -- and hopeful cookbook writer -- Jenny Miller, who was strangled with a circular knitting needle. Even though everyone wants Pamela and her best friend Bettina to stay out of the investigation, Bettina, who is a reporter for the weekly newspaper, can't do so, and Pamela, as her best friend, has an innate curiosity that always gets her involved in these things.
At first they have no idea who would want the woman dead, but when they speak to other members of the community garden where she had her plot, it seems she wasn't well-liked. Even though any one of them could have done the deed, Bettina and Pamela have no proof and no idea. Without help from the local police, they're determined to discover who wanted Jenny permanently planted underground...
This is the seventh book in the series, and I have to say that in ways it might have been the best. There was less mention of everyone's dinnerware sets, and since we really don't care about what everyone is using to eat on, it actually helped in the book. Unfortunately, there were still pages upon pages of every single item Pamela cooked and how long it took her to cook and assemble. I really don't care, and just skimmed over every single recipe instruction.
However, the mystery itself was interesting in the fact of the murder weapon was different. I did enjoy the addition of the other cat, poor thing; and that Pamela is finally moving forward in her life. It added to the story line. We still have the other characters who are regulars, and Penny, who startles her mother into making a decision (read the book and you will see what it is!).
Aside from this, I liked this installment to the story, and since it has morphed into something truly delightful, I will continue to read it. When the ending comes and the killer is revealed, it's rather sad what drove this person to commit murder, but with an unhinged mind one can't reason. I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to others.
I received a copy of Knitty Gritty Murder through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Knitty Gritty Murder is the seventh mystery in the Knit & Nibble Mystery series. In this cozy mystery, Pamela Paterson and her neighbor and friend, Bettina, take it upon themselves to solve a knitting related mystery in the community gardens.
I have read every book in the Knit & Nibble Mystery series and I love each book more than the next. The characters are great, interesting and relatable. The setting is nice and homey, making you want to live in Arborville with them. The mystery is intriguing, but light hearted. I absolutely love everything about this series and this book is no different. This cozy mystery is definitely worth the time!
I love this series so much. Everything about it is truly cozy—the characters, the atmosphere, and even the cover. This book was a great addition to the series and had a ton of heart.
I really loved this book in a new to my series. Tha characters and location really and to the story. I can't wait to read the next one. This book keeps you guessing until the end.
This was a great cozy mystery. I love the main characters and how they find the culprit and help their local police department. The setting was wonderfully described. It sounds like a beautiful Northeastern town. The means of murder was unique, as I never read anything like it before. The plot kept me turning the pages until I learned whodunnit. And, that's why I can't wait to read another book in this series. I received an advanced reader's copy from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
This is a great series! The covers are so cute! I love the characters and can't wait to see what they are up to next.
