It’s time for a wedding! Serena and Zach are getting married but Zach’s new stepmother, Veronica, is the bridezilla. Where the couple just want a casual event, Veronica does not. She decides to hold the wedding on Zach’s father’s luxurious yacht in Under the Cover of Murder. But will the discovery of a body the day of the wedding and another one after it put a damper on the proceedings? Not if Serena’s best friend and amateur detective, Addie, can do anything to help!

“It seemed everyone on this yacht had a possible motive for murder, but none of the evidence pointed to only one of them.“

I had a couple of challenges with this book. First of all, there are tons of characters! I read the previous book in the series and I still had to keep notes on who so-and-so was just to keep up. Second, the wedding itself was described in excruciating detail. The first quarter of the book reads like women’s fiction rather than the setting of a mystery. However, once the second body is found, the mystery does come back as the focus. Overall, Under the Cover of Murder was not one of the best books in this series. 3 stars.

Thanks to Kensington Books and NetGalley for a copy in exchange for my honest review.

I've read is series from the onset and it keeps getting better. The mystery takes place a most entirely upon a luxurious yacht, the setting for Serena and Zachs wedding. It also contains a lot more than that. Multiple betrayals, forgeries, stealing, lying, and murder. Perfect for Addie to snoop around and assist in the police investigation. I liked the plot and it's nuances, but there were a lot of people to keep track. I wonder about the Marc Addie romance. Seems as though one of them is not quite over the other. Of course I loved the book angle. It's a good read for the cozy mystery addict.

Addie Greyborne, owner of Beyond the Page bookshop, is dealing with a bridezilla period in her life as best friend Serena Chandler prepares to marry Zach Ludlow. To be fair Addie understands Serena's problems as she is dealing with a future mother in law who fits all the stereotypes and then some.

As her maid of honour duties begin to gather speed with the wedding just 24 hours away Addie is asked by ex-boyfriend and police chief Marc Chandler for her help on a case. A body has been found on the beach a stones throw from the Ludlow's luxury yacht where the wedding is about to take place and in the victim’s pocket a torn page from a book Marc is hopeful Addie can recognise. An expert in antique and first edition publications even she cannot work out where the page came from and is relieved to be able to return to her wedding preparations quite speedily.

When a further unexplained death occurs Addie, the other bridesmaids, and most of the wedding guests find themselves unable to leave the super yacht. Under normal circumstances Addie would jump at the chance of a free vacation in such luxurious surroundings but with a killer on board and multiple options as to motive she has no choice but to dig deep to find the clues she needs.

This is an entertaining read and is the sixth in the Beyond the Page Bookshop Mystery series although it is the first I have read. There is clearly a regular cast of protagonists and, although I hadn't met them before, their relationships were easily worked out. I liked Addie she gelled well with the local police department and, if you skate over a couple of very convenient circumstantial discoveries, her detective work and eavesdropping skills were very satisfying.

I was able to read an advanced copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and the publishers but the opinions expressed are my own. This is a good summer, almost locked room, mystery read which I enjoyed very much.

This is the sixth book in the Beyond The Page mystery series by author Lauren Elliott. I have enjoyed the entire series and appreciate the ARC for review from the publisher and Net Galley. Thank you for the opportunity.

This was a very intriguing mystery ! The author set this mystery on a large yacht with all the suspects and players confined to the yacht together amid the glamour. It reminded me of Agatha Christie and how she gathered suspects. I loved the setting for the wedding of Addie's best friend Serena and the pretensions overbearing Mother in Law. Addie takes on a murder mystery to solve after the wedding and works with her ex boyfriend a police detective. I was pleased to see that he was more open to working with Addie now and less mean overall to Addie as he has been in previous books. They have developed a working relationship and he trust Addie with her ideas for suspects and clues . Addie has her hand full with this mystery and of course it involves books. This was a fun mystery that kept me guessing to conclusion and of course I love returning to Addie and friends as one of my favorite cozy mystery series. Well done to the author. Review cross posted upon publication.

Serena and Zach are getting married. A lot of their plans have been changed by Zach's step mother Veronica. They will now have the wedding on the huge yacht in the harbor. The wedding party all have huge staterooms and the chef will be preparing super meals. The morning of the wedding, a dead man is found on shore with no ID; he was killed with a flare gun and had the corner from a page in a book in his pocket. Marc calls in Addie to see if she can identify the book, but she can't. The body is mostly kept a secret until the wedding is over and the couple have left for their honeymoon. There is one uninvited guest at the wedding, Marc's former girlfriend, Lacey. Lacey acted drunk throughout most of the activities, and the next morning, she is found washed up in the pilings. It is finally determined that the first man who died was a friend of Lacey, and they both were reporters. Had they found out too much about someone? And does it have something to do with the books?

The guests are required to stay on board while the police do their thing. The number of suspects just keeps growing. Zach's father, Oliver, had recently divorced Zach's mother, Melinda, in order to marry Veronica. Melinda is present on the ship for her son's wedding. This was Veronica's fourth marriage, and previous husbands may not have died naturally. Veronica's son Preston, and his wife Annabelle are also on board the ship. Veronica, her daughter-in-law Annabelle, and the sous-chef are all having affairs with the chef. Addie soon discovers that several of the very pricy first editions in the library are counterfeit. Paige and Catherine help Addie with her sleuthing, and she also soon enlists the security officer on the ship. Can Addie figure out who killed the two news hounds, and why, before she is the next corpse?

Addie Greyborne is busy with the last minute preparations for her best friend's (Serena) wedding on board the family superyacht when she is asked by the local authorities to look at a portion of a book that was found on a body that washed up on the shore. As the local expert on books, the small fabric slice doesn't give enough information for her to make the identification but after the wedding, while perusing the yacht library she discovers the book in question. Then one of the wedding guests is found murdered the next morning and all the remaining guests are forced to remain aboard while the police investigate.

This was very interesting since all the suspects were there on the yacht and Addie was able to eavesdrop and question without having to travel around.

Love the characters and their interactions.

After ups and downs with other books in the series, I can say that I loved almost everything about book 6 in Beyond the Page Bookstore Mysteries.
Serena is almost at her wedding with the dubious “help” of her grooms stepmother. Lady Veronica has changed almost everything Serena and Zach decided upon. Now they are marrying on Zach’s father’s luxury yacht, which is positioned in Greybourne Harbor.
A man is found dead on the beach and Marc asks Addie about him. Everyone converges for the wedding and there is an unwelcome guest in Lacey, Marc’s old girlfriend and thief. Another murder puts the ship on lockdown. This gives Addie prime time to stick her nose into the investigation since she can’t leave the ship.
There are rare books involved as usual for the series. It is an interesting part of the story.
There are a large number of suspects and strange goings on. I liked how the story came to conclusion.
There weren’t too many extremes in emotion in book 6. Sometimes the interactions Addie has had with Marc in previous books have been very negative so it was nice that this one was more neutral to positive.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to review this book prior to publication.

Under the Cover of Murder by Lauren Elliott (Beyond the Page Bookshop Mystery #6) 4 stars

Addie Grayborne, owner of Beyond the Page Bookshop and maid of honor to her friend's Serena Chandler wedding to Zach Ludlow. Preparations are underway at the yacht of Zach's father where the wedding and reception will take place. There is a momentary interruption when Police Chief Marc Chandler asks Addie if she knew the identity of an individual who washed up on the beach - She didn't. At the wedding, an ex-friend of Serena's crashes the wedding. Lacey Davenport proceeds to get drunk and obnoxious. Unfortunately, her body is discovered underneath the dock the next day. Who killed Lacey and is there a connection with the unidentified body on the beach?

Addie is in her element with this mystery. Her natural curiosity and able assistance from her friends Catherine and Paige provides a lot of information to be analyzed in order to solve the mystery. Her knowledge of books is also important because Zach's father owns a lot of rare first editions. There are a lot of motives because it seems like a lot of people have secrets worth killing for. For me, the first inkling as to the true killer shows up later in the book. The capture of killer is due to Addie's quick thinking and bravery.

The dialogue between Addie and her friends provided valuable information towards solving the mystery. The relationship between Addie and Simon seems to be progressing as well. I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to the next book in this series.

Thank you Netgalley and Kensington Books for this ARC.

A locked-room mystery....on a yacht?! How fun and interesting is that??? There's a murder or two. Hidden affairs. And so many possible suspects. My attention was riveted to the pages, the mystery keeping me guessing until the very end. Highly recommend.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias or favor.

What a wonderful place to have a wedding and being confined until a murder is solved...a luxury yacht. Sign me up. A clever and interesting cozy mystery. Many characters that had me confused occasionally, but not really a problem. They quickly became evident as to their relationships. Of course there were some affairs going on so that added to the wonder of who was with whom and why. An entertaining read.

Addison Greyborne lives in Greyborne Harbor and owns a bookshop that deals in both new and rare books. While preparing for her best friend Serena's wedding, she's called by Serena's brother Marc, chief of police, to the station. He needs her help in identifying the body of dead man who was found with nothing but a torn corner from a book. Unfortunately, Addie can't help him and leaves to go to the super-yacht where the wedding is to be held.

When a second body is discovered after the wedding, the ship is locked down with guests aboard, since any one of them could be the murderer. Now Marc needs Addie's help more than ever, and if one of them doesn't find a killer soon, they may be out to sea forever...

This is the sixth book in the series and perhaps my favorite one so far. Addie is stuck on a yacht with a group of people she doesn't know and a couple she does; and she enlists the help of her friend Catherine and employee Paige to help her try and figure out who wanted these people dead. Since Addie is, at least, being asked by Marc to help, she's given more information from the police than she ordinarily would have -- and Marc's not telling her to leave it alone.

But when Addie starts her investigating, she finds out things she wish she really didn't know, and secrets she didn't want to come across. Could any of them give cause to murder? And how did they get the body off the ship when it was full of people?

The mystery is done very nicely; there are enough red herrings on this ship to make a feast out of it. We do also get to see how the relationship with Addie and Simon is going, as well as the one with Marc and Ryley, and there are surprises there as well.

Not wanting to give much more away than what I've said, I will say that it all comes together nicely, and the murderer is discovered just in the nick of time. This is a very good book than can be read in one sitting and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Recommended.

A locked yacht murder mystery! Fans of this series (count me among them) know that Addie, our intrepid amateur sleuth owns a bookstore and that a book always figures in the story. This time out, her BFF Serena is finally finally marrying Zach (despite all the hassles from her mother in law) but of course, there's a murder. A body is found clutching a page from a book- it turns out to be a Hercule Poirot (the master!). Addie, her love interest Simon, and their friends find themselves in a pickle, especially when there's another murder. I like these books (and don't worry- this will be fine as a standalone) because of the characters to be sure but also because the themes remind me of others I've read (or not, as the case may be). There are funny spots and a little danger but this never goes over the top. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. It's a good cozy- can't wait to see what book Elliott uses for inspiration next (and what's going to happen with Simon).

I've read all the Beyond the Page Bookstore mysteries, and I think that this may be my favorite one of them all. Under the Cover of Murder is the 6th book in the series Beyond the Page Bookstore Mystery by Lauren Elliott. This is a series that you need to read from the beginning as the characters develop and grow. Just like the others in this series, it is full of humor, interesting characters and a mystery that is full of twists and turns. 5 enthusiastic stars!

This is the sixth book in the Beyond the Page Bookstore mysteries by Lauren Elliott.

I enjoyed this book a lot. I did miss the in town setting we normally see. But I thought the relationship between Addie and Mark was much better in this one. Usually, Mark seems overly hostile toward Addie which was something I could never figure out. This was a more laid back Mark. Loved that aspect.

The mystery was reminiscent of Ten Little Indians/And Then There Were None, as far as the setting went. The story was set on a yacht and most of the cast didn’t stray from there for most of the storyline. I liked the whole “not really a first edition” plot which circled back to one of the first books in this series where a stolen first edition was featured.

This is definitely a series you want to read in order just so you get to know who is who and what the cast is like. The cast is the best part of this and I always look forward to a Lauren Elliott book for just that reason. She creates the homeyness of community like few others do.

This is a great series to marathon.

This mystery was the most satisfying to me. I think it was the fact that Mark lightened up and the book aspect was featured more.

If you like cozy mysteries, definitely check this one out. You won’t be disappointed.

I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.

A cozy mystery after Agatha's heart- as most of the story takes place on a yacht! A very LARGE, well furnished, yacht occupied by people with shared pasts, secrets and passions! A perfect scenario for a mystery that you don't want to put down! Serena must work with her ex, the Police Chief, who is working with HIS current girlfriend, to solve a crime that seems to have too many clues and suspects in the wrong places. It's an interesting entry into the series, and well worth reading as a stand alone!

When Police Chief Marc Chandler forces Addie Greyborne to accompany him to the police station, he further shocks her by asking her to help identify a newly discovered body.

Unable to provide answers, Addie departs to participate in her friend Serena’s wedding aboard The Lady V. Serena’s in-laws own the yacht, and after the wedding, a guest disappears. The missing guest is a reporter, and a fisherman finds her body among the dock pilings the next morning.

Lauren Elliot concocts a complex and intriguing mystery. Police keep wedding guests aboard the yacht for days as they investigate the murder and discover fake first editions. Red herrings occupy Addie and her friends as they attempt to find the killer and the motive. The yacht provides an unusual setting that Ms. Elliot uses skillfully as her characters enjoy the dazzling luxury touches while collect clues and information. This 6th entry in the Beyond the Page Bookstore mysteries offers an entertaining read for bibliophiles.

So nice to have most of the setting on a large, expensive yacht. The glamour and extravagance of that lifestyle balanced out the sordidness of the two murders. Also liked that one of the storylines involved the forgery of classic books from the yacht’s library.
Author did great job of having multiple suspects with the reveal of the killer a surprise.

I enjoyed Lauren Elliott's latest addition to her Beyond the Page Bookstore Mystery series. I love how the characters have grown and developed. Death, however, surrounds Serena and Zach's wedding and Addie is once again involved in trying to solve the mystery. There are new and old characters with plenty of opportunity to be suspects. I had one minor issue with 'Under the Cover of Murder' and the re-visiting of Addie and Marc's relationship. I am NOT a fan of a main character who can't decide between two men. Addie seems to have avoided this trope, almost. We shall see. I look forward to more.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.
