I loved how different this book was to typical historical romances. I think Scarlett and the Maidens of Mayhem make for great intrigue. I did feel however a bit thrown into the story without background, and perhaps the pacing was a bit odd but it was a very pleasant read!

I really liked Scarlett and how the author balanced her strengths and vulnerabilities. I also really appreciated that she wasn't a damsel in distress and didn't devolve in to one as the story went on, she kept true to herself. I was less impressed with Ambrose and I thought the ending was a little rushed, I would have liked to see how they navigated society with this unconventional match.

I enjoyed this novel. It’s very well written and the chapters and story flow nicely. There is just enough romance and mystery to keep the reader interested and invested to read until the very end. A nice start to a new series. I will definitely check out more from this author and recommend for someone looking for new and fresh romantic suspense!

Duchess if you Dare is Book 1 in The Maidens of Mayhem series and is a captivating story by Anabelle Bryant. Scarlett Wynn and Ambrose Cross jump off the pages and bring you into their worlds, the only hitch is he's a Duke and she's one of the Maidens of Mayhem.

Scarlett is daring and fearless and fights injustice where she can. She crosses paths with Ambrose who is trying to protect his family from scandal by solving his own mystery. They start to work together as both their mysteries are intertwined.

Their growing attraction is undeniable and their love is nothing like they ever expected.

Anabelle Bryant has crafted a set of characters one can easily fall in love with. The plot was intriguing and entertaining. I will say it needed more to the ending I. The form of an epilogue. I really was eager to see how society treated the newly minted duchess. Overall it was a well written novel and one I enjoyed.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest, unbiased opinion and review.
