Gripping and keeping you up all night... no way but it is a good read that’s not just about Emily and her doubts about her husband Jake, it’s also about other people in the community who are also receiving letters that their spouses may be hiding secrets. The big question is who is the sender of these letters and how are they getting their information?
Loved this! So good, so exciting, so gripping and great story. Can't wait to read more by this author - absolutely brilliant.
Trust Me was said to be an unputdownable psychological thriller. Sadly for me none of those adjectives hold true. The prologue was intriguing but the book started with a chapter that left me a bit confused - Was the person Kara or Emily?
Emily is a person undoubtedly with many unresolved issues & I would have preferred to see her work her way through them at a good pace. Once the letters start arriving it got a bit interesting for a while. Emily, for the most part does nothing except mope about the past. Jake & the kids had slightly more "active" & interesting roles in the story. The parts where the small-town gossip takes a life of its own & affects the characters in this book made for good reading. Those parts were unpredictable & you never knew what the outcome would be. This is what kept me turning those pages. But as soon as I'd land on an Emily-reminisces-about-the-past chapter I'd lose interest again. The characters were good and the plot was good too. However, this fell a bit short on the "psychological thriller" part for me.
Thank you, NetGalley, Bookouture & Sheryl Browne for an arc!
Emily’s life seems to be shattered as she starts receiving anonymous letters saying the her husband Jake is cheating on her, Jake is the local village doctor and Emily works there as Practice Manager. Her mental health also seems to be suffering as she is harbouring secrets from years ago relating to the death of her twin sister. Other villagers start to receive anonymous letters regarding loved ones. Who could know such details about them? The finger points at Emily as she is the one at the Medical Centre with this information, Emily’s life begins to fall apart as her paranoia deepens causing problems with her teenage daughter . As the plot thicken more lies and secrets are revealed making this a gripping read.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
✨✨✨ 1/2
Emily and her husband Jake work together at the local doctor's surgery office and she is constantly suspicious of his infidelity. Convinced that her husband is having an affair, she spends all her time digging for clues in the patient's personal files. Soon letters are sent to patients revealing shocking private information and all fingers start pointing towards Emily . Emily pleads her innocence but no one is ready to believe her, not even Jake as this is not the first time she has lied .
Trust Me by Sheryl Browne is a fast paced moving psychological thriller full of secrets , lies , twists and turns. A little too much drama but nonetheless enjoyable
I would like to thank Bookouture & NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest and fair review.
Dark and twisty. A gripping story with Emily at the heart. How did she go from a loving and loved wife to paranoid mistrusting all around her. Menacing and gripping with a very good ending.
Unfortunately, this was not my favorite book by this author. Normally I find Sheryl to write in such an emotional, thrilling way, but something was lacking on this one for me. Overall, I think it was decent, but not great. I think it had some good thrills, chills, and shocks, but definitely not up to the authors normal work. I would recommend though, as I’m a quite moody reader.
This was a thrilling, captivating read that caught my attention right from the beginning.
Emily and Jake appear to have everything, and certainly look like the perfect couple. But behind closed doors, things are certainly not as rosy as people would think.
Although Emily is pretty certain that Jake is hiding things from her, she has no idea what those things are, and can't possibly begin to contemplate the repercussions these secrets will have as this story unfolds.
This book was full of twists and turns that kept me guessing to the very end. I thought the characters were detailed and believable, and the storyline itself flowed wonderfully.
I have loved all of Sheryl Browne's previous books, and while I did enjoy his one, it just wasn't as good as her others. I'm not sure why, and maybe it was just me. I will look out for future work from this great author
Thank you NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Let's start with the cover. It's .. interesting? I wouldn't say it caught my eye really, but it's similar to other "thriller" style of books I think.
This was my first book by this author, so I wasn't too sure of what to expect from them.
It was pretty good, honestly. The "trope' is something I feel like I've read before, but that happens often with this genre of books I think.
Everyone thinks Emily & Jake are the perfect couple, but are they?
Emily figures out pretty easily that Jake is lying and hiding something.
Overall, a good suspenseful read. Some twists and turns.
I'll definitely be looking out for other work by this author.
I've read a few Sheryl Browne books and enjoyed them all, although I don't think this was her best. I found the dialogue had me so very frustrated. The characters keep making assumptions about each other with no real proof. Definitely worth a read but prepare to be a little frustrated in places.
My least favorite so far, but not bad overall
I like the way this author writes and her pacing is spot on. She does create interesting characters and unfortunately the ones in this story weren’t my favorite (they were ethically bereft and refused to have even the most basic conversations to resolve issues).
Overall, I believe you will enjoy this if you are new to this author’s work, and not a huge reader of this genre. There are so many readers that loved this so I urge you to check it out! I will always check out more by this author and will look forward to the next one.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author, Bookouture for a copy in exchange for a review.
Trust me is an excellent physiological thriller. There is so much drama in this book. It's told from multiple perspectives. I enjoyed seeing the secrets unfold. Emily and Jake are happily married and run a surgery office when personal information is being released and tearing apart the community in the process.
Thank you netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book all opinions are my own. I really enjoyed this book.
Trust Me by Sheryl Browne was a brilliant solid psychological thriller. I was hooked from the very first few pages, then again I am with all her books I have read. I just Love this author, Sheryl's Books have all been excellent reads and this one was just excellent from the beginning till the very end.
I highly recommend all of Sheryl's books. 5 star read.
Big Thank you to Netgalley, Bookouture and the author for a free electronic copy of the book to provide a review.
I found myself unwilling to put this one down! Talk about an addictive story that will make you desperate to stay up reading!
Emily and Jake seem to have a perfect life -- Jake is a doctor, in the process of taking over his father's medical practice, Emily helps run the practice, they have a loving marriage with two children, and the community adores them.
But things begin to fall apart, as members of the community start receiving notes that expose secrets and start tearing couples apart. When Emily sees an email that suggests Jake may be having an affair, things begin to fall apart. The notes include information that could only be obtained through the medical practice, but no one knows who it could be.
Throughout the book, we learn about Emily's past -- more than she shared with Jake -- and how that impacts her relationships with her husband and children. This book has a lot of twists and turns, as we see the story unfold and find out who is sending the notes and the motives behind it. This was a well-written page turner and I was guessing until the end!
Thank you to the publisher and Net Galley for the opportunity to read and review an advance copy of this book!
Emily and Jake live in a village where he is a doctor and she is the practice manager.
People in the village are receiving letters revealing their secrets.
The fingers start pointing at Emily.
Emily thinks Jake is having an affair.
Emily has been keeping secrets of her own for years
Plenty of twists and turns
Thanks NetGalley
A domestic drama showing that everyone has their secrets and things are not always as perfect as they seem, action packed with some well written characters an engaging read.
This book had tons and tons of secrets. Sometimes I felt like I couldn’t really keep track of everything that was happening or which way the secrets and plot twists were going, but it was definitely entertaining. I like that it was told from a few different perspectives. This was my first but Sheryl Browne and it won’t be my last!
Thanks to NetGalley, publisher and author, for allowing me to read and review this book. The prologue was interesting and had me hooked and excited to get engrossed in the book. As I continued to read, details got confusing. This is a story of twin sisters and at times, I didn't understand which sister was doing what. I didn't connect with any of the characters or the story. Sadly, this was a miss for me. I appreciate and respect the author's efforts in writing a good story, I'm sure others will like this book more than me. It just wasn't a hit for me.
