This story kept my attention. I didn’t necessarily like any of the characters to be honest, I thought they were all a bit annoying and they were all hiding something from someone.
While I was reading the story, I liked how I couldn’t figure out who was the guilty culprit of the accusations going around. The ending caught me off guard.
I would recommend this book to someone who enjoys a good thrilling suspense.

Thanks to NetGalley and to the publisher for the ARC, which I received in exchange for my honest review. Trust Me is a fast paced cautionary tale of how easily lives unravel when secrets and lies are forced out into the harsh light of day. Emily and Jake live in a quiet little village in England where he is the local doctor and she manages his practice. When Emily opens an email meant for her husband she begins to suspect that he may be having an affair with one of her closest friends.

As the days go by, this email is just the first in a series of devastating reveals which lay bare the secrets of several residents of this sleepy hamlet. I normally really enjoy books of this nature but this one fell flat for me. I think the problem was that most of the characters were just unlikeable and annoying. I didn't find myself particularly invested in any of them and I thought the ending was a bit too neatly tied up for a thriller.

The book is well written and the author does a fantastic job of setting a richly atmospheric tone, transporting readers to a quaint village where everything is just a beautiful lie. While this book was not as thrilling as I had hoped, I would definitely read other works by this author.

Emily and Jake are the perfect couple. Or so everyone says. But Emily just read a letter that has shattered her perfect world. Now she only has one thing on her mind… which one of her friends is sleeping with her husband?

Emily watches Jake as he makes small talk with their children, still the perfect man she married years ago. But when the phone rings and he answers before quickly putting it down again, she sees the look on her husband’s face – guilt. She knows the signs – after all, she’s been lying to him for years.

Working with Jake at the local doctor’s surgery, Emily starts to listen at closed doors and read things she shouldn’t, hoping to find the truth about her husband. Soon she learns that hers isn’t the only family telling lies to each other. Is there anyone Emily can trust? And who is behind the letter to Jake?

When a second letter, revealing a wife’s hidden pregnancy, is sent to the woman’s husband, it has disastrous consequences. And as more angry letters revealing people’s biggest secrets begin to appear, fingers point at Emily. After all, she’s the one with access to everyone’s private history, and she’s the one with a score to settle. Emily says she didn’t do it. But this isn’t the first time Emily has lied. What happens next will have you questioning everything…

You might have already decided that Emily is guilty, but as each twist is revealed, you’ll begin to doubt everyone in this quiet little town. This is a psychological thriller that will keep you up all night!

Trust is a prevalent theme in this book, as you can tell by the title too, and boy does it explore every inch of trust in detail. I loved how a little nugget of leaked information could be the catalyst of such destruction!

Every relationship was brought into question. Each person had something to hide. As humans, haven’t we all got baggage we don’t wish to share? Baggage is a part of life after all. Facing this thought head on, ‘Trust Me’ is scary. It also explores how frail relationships are and how quickly worlds can shatter.

I loved that the main setting was a village doctors’ surgery and I thought Jake and Tom’s relationship and background gave such good history to the story. Emily’s past layered everything on thickly and the surprises were just, wow! I went from biting my nails for Emily to biting them for her daughter. Sheryl captured teenagers-in-the-house perfectly. All that hormonal angst - it was like a time bomb waiting to detonate.

The finger pointing amongst the village was fearful! The heat and blame bounced all over the place and it was brought together brilliantly. The ending, whoosh! It’s mega as the secrets spill. Just when I thought I knew a character, something happened to make me change my mind.

Forgiveness is also a huge part of this story and it made me think deeply. Some things are forgivable, others not so much. Can this broken family find a way of coming back together? Who was keeping secrets? Who was telling lies? Find out when you read the book!

I was drawn in from page 1, a real rollercoaster of emotions in this novel. I loved it, it’s pacy and twisty and kept me hooked right through to the end.

This was a quick and easy read, but I couldn't stand Emily. Her immediate suspicion and her refusal to have one adult conversation was very annoying. This was one of those stories where it probably wouldn't exist if people actually talked to each other. But then again, with the way Emily grabs her jump-to-conclusions mat every time someone talks to her, I can understand why they'd avoid it.

Thank you to Bookouture as always, though, for providing this copy for review.

Trust Me by Sheryl Browne is an excellent thriller about a small community.

Trust Me had my attention from the first page. Emily sees an email in her husband’s inbox that leads her to believe he is having an affair. Emily is left wondering who he’s having an affair with. She no longer trusts anything he says and is always paranoid.

Emily and Jake seem to have the perfect wife and marriage. Is their whole life a lie? Who is Jake having an affair with? Who is trying to break up Jake and Emily? Can Jake and Emily's relationship survive this?

After Emily sees the email, people in town start receiving letters. The letters all have a secret about one spouse that the other spouse sees. This is causes a lot of problems for the town. The town becomes divided and everyone is worried their secrets will be exposed next.

I loved Trust Me. There was so much drama in this book. All the couples are keeping secrets, and the reactions when the secrets are revealed are crazy. Trust Me is told from multiple perspectives which really added to the story. The main story is Emily and Jake, but their friends and family are also important to the story.

Emily and Jake work together at the local doctor’s surgery (office). Emily starts to question everything Jake does at work, home and when they are not together. This really puts a strain on their relationship. This affects their two children, Millie and Ben. Millie and Ben are also dealing with their own problems. Some couples from the town are also pulled into the story. Some are close to Emily and Jake and some seem like people they hardly know.

I really enjoyed this story and all of the character dynamics. I suspected part of the ending, but it was still so good and way more than I guessed.

I highly recommend Trust Me to thriller fans.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for Trust Me. All Opinions are my own.

This has been one of those books that really has given me all the feels. I haven't been able to put this one down. I have literally been gripped from start to finish.
The author has pulled me in from very early on in this book and this has been a superb read which has kept me guessing constantly.
I haven't been able to predict where the author was taking this book. It has been a rollercoaster read which has been completely unpredictable.
I am a huge fan of this author anyway and this book has been no different. I have absolutely loved this one and without a doubt feel that it's highly deserving of a five star rating.

Thank you to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

The story centres around Emily and Jake, a married couple with two older children. Emily works at the local doctors surgery where her husband is a GP. Due to Emily’s role at the surgery she has access to all patient records in the community where they live. When people start to receive damaging letters in the post about their hidden secrets Emily comes under suspicion with the access she holds. And it seems everyone in the small community has secrets they’re trying to hide. Emily is also convinced that her husbands nightly call outs are for more than a medical need, she believes he’s having an affair.
We read the story from different characters perspectives, and the characters were all relatable, even if a few were a bit dislikable. The writing and story flowed nicely and was a real page turner.

I would happily recommend this book, and this authors other work.

A new book by this author is always something to look forward to, one of the authors I read without looking at the blurb and so ‘go in blind’
This time we have a village where residents are receiving letters, anon letters that speak of past or present secrets and infidelities and are being sent to folk to, of course, cause mayhem
The main focus is on Emily and her husband Jake, (Jake is the local Dr and Emily the practice manager ) and their family and the people they come into contact with at work and in ‘village life’, Emily’s life is unravelling, health and mental wise and she is convinced partly by the letters she receives that Jake is cheating, there is, of course, much more to it than this, she has her own secrets aplenty surrounding her twin who perished many years before, could it all be connected?
Its a ride with many bumps and twists and turns to get to the conclusion and to find out who is behind all that is happening and you are pulled one way and then the other thinking you know, I guessed wrong a few times😁
Now I have to say character wise Emily got me down on occasion, she really needed to calm her ‘racing pulse’ and take stock a bit more and listen to peoples advice but to counter this I LOVED Fran the village gossip, she was wonderfully greatly bad in her ‘tall tale telling’ and assumptions and she was just a perfect character to secretly adore and conjured up a wonderful minds eye pic
The ending was quite a surprise and answered all the questions
A good solid psychological thriller told in the reader friendly way synonymous with this author

Emily had lost her identical twin sister, Kara, who had died at an early age.

Now married to Jake, a physician, Emily works as his office manager..

Emily and Jake have been together a long time, Their oldest child - a son- is at uni and their daughter will soon be entering uni, as well. Emily is finally feeling the most comfortable since her sister's death. That is, until she reads an e-mail that threatens all she had thought she had...

Exciting and fast-paced. A great story of suspicion and deceit.

RECOMMEND!

Many Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for a fine read.

This was my first book by this author, and I enjoyed it. It was definitely a slow burn type story, but it really picked up towards the end.

I definitely recommend this one.

Thank you to the publisher for providing me with a copy of this E-book to review via Netgalley.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced e-copy of Trust Me by Sheryl Browne!!! I have never read any books by this author, but the description had me very intrigued.

I really enjoyed the pacing of the book and the style of writing. I also appreciated the different points of view that we were given and how everything was explained. I was starting to worry that it would be one of those books were ‘everything was in her head’ but I was pleasantly surprised.

Anyone who enjoys psychological thrillers will enjoy this book. I will definitely be reading more of Sheryl Brownes’ books in the future

Psychological drama starts with an attack on an unknown woman then moves to the story of a family in difficulties.
Emily is married to Jake, village G.P.. They have two teenage children Ben and Millie.
Emily finds an email in Jake’s inbox and becomes suspicious, thinking he is having an affair but with whom? There seem to be plenty of local women who have him in their sights.
Villagers then start receiving threatening, anonymous letters. Emily because more suspicious of her husband and every local woman. Who is he having an affair with?
Why is Jake always working late? Why is he answering his phone away from her?
Is Emily responsible for the letters as her behaviour becomes more volatile?
Some of the storylines are a bit unbelievable as it seems everyone is either mad, bad or dangerous to know.
I struggled to finish this book as none of the main characters are particularly likeable and anyone who lives in a village like this would leave ASAP.
3 Stars.
Thanks to Netgalley for allowing me to read this book in return for a fair review.

Trust Me by Sheryl Browne is a compelling enough read that certainly held my attention although, in my opinion, it was not on par with the author's previous work. I have come to love the novels of Sheryl Browne, but found this one to be a little less engaging than those that I have previously enjoyed.

Emily is married to Jake, a physician, and the pair share two children. Emily works at Jake's practice and, as a receptionist, has access to all of the patient files in a relatively small community where everyone seems to have their own secrets. When Emily receives a letter that suggests that her husband is having an affair, she wonders who among their friends and patients she can really trust. Are Jake's late night call-outs really of a medical nature, or has he been brazenly carrying on right under her nose?

This is certainly an enjoyable read, although I must say that I did find it a bit slow to get moving, and there were probably at least a few characters who were surplus to requirements. That being said, I will be the first in line to read Ms Browne's next offering. 3.5 stars

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC.

Emily and Jake are the perfect couple. That is until Emily finds evidence that leads her to believe Jake is cheating. This is a town full of lies and secrets. A total slow burn that leaves you guessing until the end. I think this is a great choice for a book club thriller!

I was a bit worried about reading another Sheryl Browne book after reading a disappointing one from her earlier on in the year. I don’t remember every book I read, but I did have a small asterisk in my mind against this author that made me stop and think whether I should request this ARC. However, I was pleasantly surprised that this was back to the high standard that I know she is capable of. This was a fantastic Psychological Thriller, and I thoroughly enjoyed it, phew!
The writing was on point; the characters were annoying enough to suspect everyone but likeable too so that you wanted to know what they were up to and were rooting for them. The storyline was unique and different from other PTs that I have been reading lately. I don’t think I’ve spent much imaginary time in a doctor’s surgery.
I did think at one point that Emily’s paranoia wasn’t based on much, but as the story progresses, this worry was unfounded. Everything is explained, and there are so many twists and turns at the end, it really keeps you on the edge of your seat.
I did guess the big reveal of who was behind all the vitriol but everything that came after this was really shocking.
So I have removed my mental asterisk and will look forward to future books by this author again. This really was an enjoyable book that will keep you gripped, guessing and flying through the pages.

This is a community with a lot of secrets and somebody is revealing them. The story is a good read but a bit predictable. I also felt that I could not really like any of the characters.

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy.

Jake Merriden runs a local village GP practice. His father Tom gives him part time support. There is no love lost between Jake and Tom. A serial philanderer, Jake is convinced his father’s behaviour led to his mother’s suicide. Jake’s wife Emily is practice manager. They’ve had a good marriage apart from one incident a while back. But now Emily is beginning to suspect Jake’s absences, particularly during the evening, might not be for work reasons. There is more trouble brewing when certain villagers begin to receive anonymous messages.. Malicious notes containing the sort of information that could only have come from the surgery.
So here we have it. Two stories running parallel. Emily, more and more convinced Jake is having an affair and someone in the community stirring up trouble. Dipping in and out of both Emily and Jake’s viewpoints it was frustrating to see how easily their relationship began to fracture. Emily begins to suspect everyone, even her best friend Sally who works with her at the surgery. The anonymous notes eventually lead to a tragic incident. Who is this and why are they targeting certain people? Everyone at the practice is suddenly a suspect.
Loads of twists and turns in this unputdownable read with some surprises as we finally reach the end and all is revealed.. Yet another well-deserved 5 stars for Sheryl Browne.
Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for an ARC of Trust Me in exchange for an honest review.
