Thank you netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This is an excellent storybook for young children who have difficulty learning new skills like math and reading. In a simplistic way, the author shows us how we can overcome these obstacles by training our brain to do better. It even has quick exercises at the end.

Wade has trouble studying and feels like giving up. Things just do not come as easily to him as other students. His Fantabulous Brain shows up and uses tools from the "Brain Toolbox" to give Wade's brain a tune-up to make learning more effective. The adorable illustrations depicted Wade's transformation from frustrated to confident really well. The story occasionally slipped out of rhyming verse which was confusing for my grandchildren to read. Overall, though, they heartily enjoyed it. They were encouraged that learning challenges, which many children struggle with in one area or more, do not mean a student is not intelligent and that a different approach may enable them to conquer that challenge. It was especially helpful for the author to include learning games and links for helpful resources.

My Fantabulous brain is an (at least partly) rhyming story about a child who struggles with homework and gets advice from his own fantabulous brain and a program involving intense brain training. The author's father developed one such program. I love children's books that help kids deal with their problems in a constructive way but I guess this one is most useful for the children who have access to the brain training that the author advocates for, or at least some other learning disability resources, to help motivate them work with the program. . Children who are left to their own devices aren't going to be too happy to hear that brain trainers they will never meet might be able to solve their problems.

So, this book could be great but only for a limited audience.
