This is the second book in the Good Girl's Guide to Murder series.
Pip has given up detective work. After everything that happened when she solved the Andi Bell case, she realizes it's too dangerous and she can't put her family through that again. Pip is going to focus on her podcast and be done. But then Jamie Reynolds disappears and Pip gets sucked back in again.
This was a great follow up to the first book. Most of the characters from the first book come back. The mystery kept me engaged until the very end. I can't wait for the continuation of this series.

Pip is determined to never investigate another mystery until her friend’s brother ends up missing. Connor and his mom, Joanne, convince Pip that they need her help to find Jamie and the more she investigates, the more questions pop up. It’s a tangled web of people, clues and history. Ravi is with her completely, once again and Pip realizes that she’s lying to her parents more and more so they don’t get upset about her over-involvement in the investigation. This is a twisty mystery that kept me guessing, 5 stars! I'm completely looking forward to the third book of this series!

"Don't make me do this again. Please. I can't do this again."

It took me a minute to re-immerse myself in the world, but once I did, it was just as fun and interesting to read as the first book was. I was concerned, but the feeling I got was akin to hoping the author would continue Pip's story into adulthood because I can just see her being the next Jessica Fletcher!

The personal struggle! Pip is a joy because her thoughts are so easy to follow. The ones where she second-guesses herself and when something finally clicks into place. It's very satisfying. I'm pretty sure I'll keep reading these as long as the author (shout out to another Holly!) keeps writing them.

The end, though. It's not like, a big spoiler or anything, but there's definitely a slight swerve.

I like the creativity shown in these books. In the first book, the main character included a lot of the interviews and her notes for her project, and that was really interesting. In this book, the main character is making a podcast about what happened in the first novel. Again, this was a great way to vary the format of the way in which this story is told. I love the interaction between Pip and Ravi, and between Pip and her parents. The mystery was good too. I am not totally on board with the way Pip's character evolves during this book, and I don't want to spoil anything by giving any detail. I can understand her rage and frustration, but I think the author went a bit too far. It was hard to believe, and hard to believe that she could get away with what she does. But, with that caveat, I think this is a good follow-up to the first book.

I received a free ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I was a big fan of the first book so was looking forward to reading this one. Let me start by saying, I don't this book works well as a stand alone. It references the first book and what happened quite often. I had read the first one and still had a hard time remembering some of the characters and how they fit together. I think overall the plot was interesting . I just didn't enjoy it as much as the first.

Great series, but potentially bit heavy for younger teens! However, a likable main character with a page turning mystery arc. Read while waiting for the next Maureen Johnson Truly Devious to come out. Enjoyable, but a very different feel from Truly Devious.

I truly loved the first book, and was afraid this one wouldn't grab me like the first did. However, I was pleasantly surprised. The writing continued to engage me, and I enjoyed the plot of this one almost as much as the first.

This is a sequel to Good Girl's Guide to Murder. I recommend reading that first in order to get the most out of Good Girl , Bad Blood. I really enjoyed the mystery that Pip and her friends solve in this book. It is a bit of a slow build but once things get rolling it is really fast paced read.

Rating: 4.75⭐️

Thank you to the publisher for gifting me an arc via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Good Girl, Bad Blood is the sequel to A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, and follows Pip as she tries to race against time to solve a missing persons case before someone ends up dead. I absolutely loved the first book as it was super unique. This one was also really good! I listened to the audiobook which made the story feel so much more real. It includes a pod cast that Pip runs and having that in the book along side the story was such a great experience.
This story kept me on my toes the whole time and kept me guessing on who the culprit was. I was able to guess some of the clues but it was overall a really great mystery!
Pip and Ravi’s relationship was starting to grow which was nice.
The only thing I didn’t love was the ending. I don’t want to go into detail as it’s a spoiler, but I could’ve done without the last couple pages. It does set it up for the next novel though so I’m hoping it will be resolved then.
Overall this was a great read! I highly recommend checking out this series!

18-year-old Pip solved a closed-case mystery in her hometown in the first book in this series (A Good Girl's Guide to Murder). When this sequel opens, Pip has just completed a podcast detailing that case and has decided that she's done with detective work. But then her friend's brother goes missing and the police are no help. Pip can't sit this one out. Can she find her friend's brother before it's too late?

I have become quite a fan of this series and can't wait for book #3 to hit the shelves!

Thank you to Random House and Net Galley for an advanced copy of this book.

Quick mystery in a small town that turns far more sinister than you would guess. There are some weird things since the author is from the UK and the book is set in Connecticut but I'm willing to overlook it for a true crime fangirl solving mysteries without too much gruesome true crime along the way. The circumstances with the podcast are so 2021, it's all fun for the times

Oh my gosh. I was so excited about the first book and was fairly happy with Good Girls Guide To Murder (4/5 stars). This second novel in the series is almost better? The twists were actually twisted and just as I thought I'd gotten over one, there was another. I loved it. I couldn't stop.

Thank you to #NetGalley and publisher for the ARC of #GoodGirlBadBlood in exchange for an honest review.

If you know me, you know I love a good murder mystery. Especially when it’s reminiscent of Veronica Mars, which was one of my favourite shows. I admit I wasn’t blown away by the ending of the first book in this series, but my god the ending of this one? It got me. It got me good.

So I think maybe my biggest issue with this book is the way it’s written. The prose is often a little awkward, and it took me out of the story. I found some slangs used that no teenager would ever use. For example, Pip’s friend asking her if she’s ready to “Netflix and chill”. I’d hoped by now that everyone on the internet knows what that actually means, because it wasn’t used correctly here. Also, instead of using Netflix Party to watch with her friend, they counted down and hit play while on a phone call. Maybe this is nit-picking, but these little details made me pause because they seemed so out of date.

What I love about this series, though, is that it’s kind of mixed media. We have normal POVs, interview and podcast transcripts, etc. It’s so interesting, and it makes the book feel a little more interactive in a way. It makes you feel like you’re part of the mystery, collecting and unravelling clues right along with Pip. Another thing to appreciate is the way the book deals with heavier topics like sexual assault and the trials of the accused. I think Pip is a little naïve at times, but the portrayal of the trial was fairly realistic.

The book gets more and more intense as it goes on, to the point where I didn’t want to put it down. I may have struggled with the beginning – I was reminded of why I just liked but didn’t love the first book often -, but it becomes so captivating and action-packed that I was hooked to the story. I was so invested in the characters and the ending, that I actually became teary eyed when we hit the climax of the book. The way that was written….omg. I was shocked and emotional, and couldn’t stop thinking about it. I was blown away, and it made me add an extra star to the book because of how visceral it was.

I think this series is good, but this book? Wow, it was better than the first, and made me feel desperate to read the final book asap. Like, the ending was THAT good folks. Sure, the romance is a little cheesy and some things made it obvious an adult was telling a teen’s story. But the mystery was interesting, intricate, and compelling especially at the end. Even having guessed a character who was involved didn’t ultimately detract from my enjoyment of it. If any of this sounds like your cup of tea, you need this book in your life.

Another great entry in this series, which is likely my favorite YA mystery series. Although I was a little confused at the start because it was talking about the after-effects of the mystery from the first book, which I didn't remember well, I felt like I got enough to continue. This entry continues talking about the fallout from the first book, but it mainly focuses on its own self-contained, unconnected mystery. That mystery was twisty, fun, and pulse-pounding. While I don't know if this entry was quite as successful as the original, I gave it 5 stars, so it's obviously still a great book, and I can't wait for the rest of the books in what I've heard will be a 4-book series.

Holly Jackson knocked this sequel out of the park! Just as intriguing and nail bitting as the first book in this series. I’ll be waiting on bated breath for the third.

This is the sequel to a Good Girls Guide to Murder and it did not disappoint. Pip is dragged into another case full of twists and turns that I did not see coming. Can’t wait to see the fallout in the thirds book.

This one just didn't keep my attention as much as book one. I am not convinced that I will pick up the next one. It just was not as intriguing or as heart stopping as books one.

The fame and the fallout was completely unexpected when Pippa posted her podcast about how she solved a cold case. Giving up on detecting and overall snooping, Pippa just wants her life to go back to normal. When her friend Connor's older brother Jaime goes missing, nobody thinks anything of it except Connor. Knowing there is something wrong, Connor seeks out Pippa's help, and regardless of her reluctance, she knows she needs to help.

This is the second book in the series and while the main characters are the same, the mystery element is completely new, so technically you could probably read this on it's own- but I highly recommend you start with the first book, you will not be disappointed!

Good Girl, Bad Blood was completely different from A Good Girl's Guide to Murder when it came to the mystery elements and plot. We still get our spunky teen sleuths and the cool podcast elements though (side note, if you are a fan of audios or podcasts I highly recommend listening to this series since the audio is a complete cast-like experience as if you are listening to a podcast and is very cool). The biggest difference here is that the case she is looking into is current, with a missing person that is time sensitive, whereas the last book was a cold case that had already "been solved" as per the police and town. I could not have predicted the path this book would take, it was nice and twisty, keeping me guessing with each new clue.

Oddly enough, this story somehow seemed darker to me than the first book which dealt with murder (lots of murder) where as this was a possible missing person. I think it predominantly had to do with Pippa's mind set here, she was in a very dark place for a majority of the story and the ending was a bittersweet conclusion nobody wanted. That all being said, I just discovered there will be a 3rd book and I am so excited to get more of these characters and twisty mysteries. Count me in for more.

First line: You think you’d know what a killer sounds like.

Summary: Pip has decided after her life was torn apart trying to find a killer, that she is done with detective work. She has released her podcast to wild acclaim and never planned to do a second season until she gets a call from a childhood friend who is worried about his brother. Jamie Reynolds went missing, his phone is off and no one knows who the mysterious girl he has been talking to is. Pip agrees to help but she is worried what another investigation is going to do to her family.

My Thoughts: I enjoyed the story and characters. Young adult mysteries are nearly as good if not better than adult ones anymore. There are lots of twists, danger and intrigue. But like in the first one this book is different because it is told through interview transcriptions which Pip uses for her podcasts. It’s a great way for the author to change up a genre that can get very structured and give it a more modern feel. I will definitely read the final book in the trilogy!

FYI: This is book 2 and it references the first book often.
