This children's book is about a bear called Wallow who does not like the rain. However, a friend comes to him and shows him how rain can be fun and soon they are both outside playing in the rain. My daughter enjoyed this fun story and she liked the characters and the pictures.

Many thanks to the author, publisher and netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

How do you enjoy a rainy day? Follow Wallow the Bear to see how he went from being depressed during a rainy day to having one of the best days ever. A fun story with wonderful illustrations. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

Wallow the Bear lives deep in the wood. If there’s one thing he hates, it’s the rain, which spoils his entire day to play outside. So it’s no surprise that he decides to stay home when the storm clouds roll in. Just as he is about to fall asleep, he hears splashing and giggling from outside. Who could it be?

A wonderful book about positive thinking. The illustrations are very colorful and detailed. If you look closely, you’ll see a lot more than just the story. I think kids of all ages will enjoy this delightful read.

Thank you @netgalley and @clavispublishing for this ARC

I LOVE THESE ILLUSTRATIONS! I will read more Adam Ciccio just for the pictures. Beautifully done. Wallow the bear hates the rain and gets upset when he can't go outside. His friend Little Cub convinces him to go outside and he has the best time.

"A Beary Rainy Day" is an adorable picture book that encourages readers to face their fears and try new things. The illustrations are colorful and fun. This would be a great picture book for a library storytime.

This book was very cute! It shares positive ways of thinking about the negatives in life, in this case a rainy day. I also really loved how the font would jump out at you at certain times in the story and loved the art throughout!

This charming story of a very gloomy bear named Wallow who learns to love the rain is the perfect story to teach young children about changing ones perspective on things and finding the good in a seemingly negative situation. It's also a wonderful example of how our friends can be a good influence on us and open us up to new opportunities, just as Little Cub taught Wallow to have fun in the rain. Adam Ciccio's story is told on each page with a lovely, easy rhyming style that would be useful for those like me who teach literacy to young children. I particularly loved his poetic final line that Wallow hadn't liked the rain "because he'd never seen past the rain clouds before. " This is a message that children and adults could all benefit from. As for the art, I loved Emilie Timmermans' eye-catching and inviting illustrations, which made even a rain curmudgeon like me want to go outside and play! Overall, I think this would be a great addition to any child's library, and it just begs to be read on a rainy day. I can't wait to read it to the kids I work with!

This is a really sweet book! On the surface it's about a bear who doesn't like the rain but finds out that it can be fun with friends. It also sends the message to be brave and look for the positive side of any situation. The language was great for children and the pictures were fun. I would definitely add this book to my kids' library. I received a free copy of this book from netgalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

The book is about a little bear who's frustrated with the weather outside, rain all day kept him in, until he discovered how fun it is to play in the rain with his close friend. The book sends a very positive message about looking at things through a different perspective can change everything. The illustrations are very detailed and sophisticated as well.

A decent kids book, but I found myself wanting to like it more than I ended up liking it. The story of Wallow the Bear started strong, and interesting illustrations elevated things - there's a freshness and fun to the style - but the rhythm/rhyme of the verses just didn't scan well for me, pulling us out of the story for read-alouds now and then and breaking the flow. A shame, as lots to like. A good book, but felt it could have been better. Just didn't connect as much for us, though still liked it.

The story of this book, a hesitant bear reluctant to step outside in rain, is helped to see the joy that can come from playing with his friend in the rain. It is a story of our trepidations and how sometime, a true friend, can give us just the courage needed to step outside of our comfort zone. The illustrations are adorable, engaging and clear.

I received an electronic ARC from Clavis Publishing through NetGalley.
Wallow (love the name!) the Bear was always glum when it rained. He stayed inside and moped until one day his friend invited him to play in the puddles. He discovered how much you could have if you looked beyond the gloomy.
Ciccio spins a charming story readers will connect with. Lovely illustrations support the message to look beyond the dark, sad areas and see the beauty around you. Changing an attitude can change the entire day. A message we can use at all ages.

The idea behind this book is great, and I truly loved the illustrations, however, I found the writing a little choppy. Some passages read like poetry, with rhyming, others had no rhyming or rhythm at all. It was disorienting and annoying. Again, the STORY is a great idea, I just think the execution is lacking.

A Beary Rainy Day is a beautifully illustrated picture book for children about making the best out of even the most gloomy and disheartening things such as the endless rain in this story.
This book helps to encourage positive thinking in young children and making a bad situation into a more positive one.

Picture book. Wallow the Bear lives in his cave, where he likes to stay on rainy days. But the rain today is extra rough, and once the raindrops come through the roof, Wallow is ready to return to bed. Until he hears laughter outside and finds his friend playing in the puddles. Wallow joins in and decides maybe rainy days aren't so bad after all. A cute story with a social emotional component. There is also a side story told in the pictures, which I didn't notice until another reviewer pointed it out-- the squirrel gradually takes honey and waffles from Wallow and makes a feast for the squirrels. Easy concept to relate to and fun pictures (I especially love the one where Wallow is lying on the floor with a book over his face).

Little ones can be sad and not want to do anything, so they can relate to Wallow. The message is one that is good for kids to hear - look past the gloom and you could surprise yourself with something good. The illustrations were fitting and fun to look at. My library will be purchasing this book for our collection.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the DRC.
