The daughter of Sherlock Holmes is on the trail of Jack the Ripper. Fast paced, action packed, gruesome and very wildly entertaining.

The Abduction of Pretty Penny, A Daughter of Sherlock Holmes Mystery Series, was excellent! This was my first read in the series. The dialogue is masterful. The main characters are multi layered, well developed, and enchanting. The “villain” was well ensconced in a veil of mystery. I look forward to reading more in this series. Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for this ARC opportunity.

My thanks to St Martin's Press and Net Galley for allowing me to review this most enjoyable book.

Dr Watson, Sherlock Holmes partner, his son John, also a doctor, and wife Joanna, Sherlock's Holmes daughter are hired to solve the disappearance of Pretty Penny, a popular actress at the local theater. In doing this, the bodies of many young women, the "Unfortunates" are discovered in the Whitechapel district , murdered the same way as Jack the Ripper did 28 years before. Is this Jack, or a copy cat? Is Pretty Penny the next victim? Only time will tell.

Really enjoyed this book.. The author really channeled Arthur Conan Doyle in the style and feel of this read.

Hooked from the start! I always know that Leonard Goldberg’s Daughter of Sherlock Holmes series is going to keep me wanting to read through until I finish the book in one sitting; the logical way he lays everything out is magical. The glimpses of her emotions, which Sherlock lacked, are humanising while she methodically solves the mystery. And even though he’s clearing steering us towards a culprit, it’s still enthralling to get there with the characters.

This might be my favorite entry in the daughter of Sherlock Holmes series. It ties in Jack the Ripper and Holmes' sense of deduction. One wonders if the case could've been solved if they had a competent woman on the case! The relationship between all the characters is believable, and this Holmes is a bit more emotionally together than her famous father.

This was an intense slow building story. I love Sherlock Holmes and thought this book with his daughter was really good. The story was interesting and kept my attention to the very end.
I know it’s part of a series but it made me wonder what happened to her father.
Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the early copy

Bravo! Alluring story, engaging characters, brilliant, and authentic dialogue for the time period, a most pleasurable read!

Joanna, (daughter of Sherlick Holmes), joined by her husband, (son of Dr. Watson), and by Dr. John Watson, (long time friend and partner of Sherlock), are originally commissioned to find a local playhouse actress that has gone missing. Eventually, one clue after another, they surmise they are dealing with the original ”Jack the Ripper”, but has he really resurfaced after 30 years?

The ”Unfortunates” (prostitutes) body counts begins to increase, in the same gruesome and remarkable way that Jack the Ripper was known for, torturing his victims while yet still alive, dissecting, killing them.
But now Ripper wants raise the stakes - he wants to make this personal by adding a distraction! What better distraction then to kidnap and kill Little John, Sherlock’s Holmes grandson, thereby making a name forever by defeating Sherlock Holmes himself, by way of Sherlock’s daughter, Joanna. These will be the mysteries of her son, Little John and Pretty Penny, killings she could solve nor stop in time!

I loved everything about this story, and can’t wait to read others in the series to follow.

My thanks to NetGalley and Minotaur Books for the privilege of an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion. All opinions are my own. #TheAbductionofPrettyPenny

The Daughter of Sherlock Holmes series is a must read for me as soon as a new book comes out and The Abduction of Pretty Penny is amazing! Any hint of revealing the identity of Jack the Ripper always adds spice to a mystery set in Whitechapel in the aftermath of his reign of terror and the possibility of his return in 1917 sets the stage in this intriguing story. Following Joanna, John and Watson's through the investigation you can feel the fear at the thought of the Ripper being back and when he threatens Joanna's son it notches up the tension until the final resolution. I look forward to their next adventure and thank #NetGalley for allowing me to read an advance copy of #TheAbductionfoPrettyPenny.
