If you’ve never read a Christina Lauren (where have you been?!?) this is my PSA you need to take the deep dive now, so you can be ready for The Soulmate Equation our in May. I think this may be my new favorite! It’s a fun twist on a genetic DNA based dating app where the creator of the app and coffee shop goer, single mom, computer coder Jess end up being a nearly perfect match. It has all the swoon and such a fun story! What’s your favorite CL?!

I devoured this book in one sitting. The sparks between Jess and River flew off the page making it impossible for me to put their story down. This was a powerful love store with depth. Jess is a single mom struggling to make it on her own. She is fiercely independent but finds a way to let her guard down and find love with River. Christina Lauren has outdone herself with this book!

Interesting twists on the dating scene as we know it...My scientific brain was engaged and pondering the DNA bits of this as I enjoyed the story of the geeky billionaire, and down to earth data analyst that are matched by science!

As usual, Christina Lauren writes a funny and sultry romance novel that I enjoyed thoroughly. I am rating this book 5 stars.

Jess, a single mom and statistician, finds herself so low one night that she caves in and sends her spit into GeneticAlly, a dating company that finds matches basked on genetics, to see if she has any matches. Lo and behold, her and the founder of the company, River, have a 98 % match, making them the highest match the company has ever found.

Jess and River decide to give dating a go to see if their genetic match transpires into a physical and emotional connection as well. Both lead characters were so loveable and the premise of the book was so unique, I found myself devouring it!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc of this book. All opinions are my own.

Thanks so much to the publisher for providing me a digital ARC of this book via NetGalley!

The Soulmate Equation was a really cute read (a little spicy too). It was a very quick read. I loved the relationships in this book, especially between Jess and her daughter.

The idea of finding an algorithm for compatibility in relationships isn't really new, and has definitely been explored in other novels before, but I did like how it was done in this book! I liked the realistic chemistry between Jess and River.

Jess is a single mom who has given up on dating. She’s satisfied with her life as a freelance statistician with her daughter, best friend, and grandparents close. However, after some prodding from her best friend, Jess sends in her DNA to a company that claims they can find your soulmate based on DNA patterns.

I really liked Jess and her best friend, Fizzy. I also enjoyed Jess’s grandparents/daughter connection. However, there was a storyline or two that I thought fell a little flat.

This is classic Christina Lauren, and I was so excited to get an ARC of this. I wouldn’t say this is a favorite but definitely a nice romance read for a dreary day.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC!

The Soulmate Equation by Christina Lauren was absolutely amazing! I read the entire book in one sitting. I loved it so much and so far it’s my favorite book that Christina Lauren have written. They are the best author duo. I loved reading about genetics and learning about it. Jess and River were amazing together and I loved both so much and Juno as well. As soon as I finished reading The Soulmate Equation I preorder a physical copy!! Thank you Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read an amazing book. I am forever grateful!

Let me start by saying a quick thank you to both NetGalley and the publishers at Simon and Schuster for allowing me to read this one in advance in exchange for an honest review. Single mom and statistician Jess is tired of the dating scene--especially after a disastrous date with a recently divorced man. But when she decides on a whim to test her DNA to find her soulmate she’s thrown for a loop when she matches with the company’s creator at their highest percentage to date. Numbers she understands. But this one is unreal. Her real life and a new media frenzy must somehow come together while she explores her own feelings for her match. The Soulmate Equation comes out on May 18th and is available for preorder now.

This is everything you've come to expect from the amazing writing duo. It’s sweet and heart warming while still also being grounded in reality. I was also excited to see that this story had a little less of the sex scenes we normally get in a romance, but the moments we do get feel realistic and comfortable while still steaming off the page. What’s funny is that I read another DNA Soulmate type book earlier this month. Thankfully this one went down the Romance path instead of the Mystery/Thriller path. I really enjoyed Jess and her little circle of family and friends. Fizzy feels like she’s the embodiment of the writing duo Christina Lauren and I was there for her chaotic energy. Juno was exactly what you expect from a 7 year old kid and I loved her so much. River wasn’t the perfect man in this one, but he was a realistic and flawed love interest which I don’t think we get nearly enough of in the Romance genre. He has flaws and makes mistakes, but he owns them and apologizes for them. What more can you ask for? Oh, he’s also incredibly attractive, smart, and funny? Yes, we’ll take that too.

I think the part that I enjoyed the least was the amount of crap Jess had to deal with as a single mother trying to hold it down AND deal with her own mother’s problems? It felt like a lot. It’s completely realistic for someone to have that much on their plate. I just felt so bad for our main character. And this book addresses some hard issues which I hadn’t expected and it was great to see in a romance. However, I wanted someone to take on some of her issues and let her breathe for more than two seconds at a time.

This was such a quick and fun read for me. I loved seeing River and Jess learn how to tolerate and eventually how to love each other. Their chemistry was great and so much fun to see. But the moments where they were vulnerable or helping each other through whatever was happening at any given moment were the ones I loved the most. I inhaled this book in less than 36 hours. It’s that engaging.

I laughed-out-loud, due to the witty banter! From my favorite author duo, another superb rom-com!

I'll admit, I was worried about the statistical, science terms, but it worked. Once I focussed on the delightful characters, it was such an enjoyment. The love for family shines through!

This book is everything I could have asked for on Valentine’s Day weekend and more. The novel follows Jess and River, who are two single young professional San Diego residents. Jess is skeptical of love and has kept her heart guarded ever since her daughter, Juno, was born 7 years ago. Her best friend, Fizzy, buys her a test kit for a new dating app that matches people based on their genetic compatibility. Jess finds her diamond match with one of the founders of the company, River. A 98 is pretty much unheard of so their match begins to spread quickly under the public eye. Will science and statistics actually be able to predict their compatibility? Will Jess and River find the love they deserve?

I loved how this was different than your typical romance novel because of the added dynamic of Jess’ daughter, Juno. Juno was a lot of fun and I enjoyed how curious and honest she was. Jess was a good mother to her and always kept her relationship with Juno above her dating relationships.

I also found delight in how nerdy Jess and River were 🤓 Everytime they talked about statistics or probability it made the math geek in me swoon.

The characters in this novel were phenomenal. Aside from how much I loved Jess and River, I also adored Jess’ best friend, Fizzy. Fizzy provided just the right amount of comic relief to the novel. I was also a huge fan of Jess’ grandparents who were just the sweetest, kindest characters you could imagine.

Thank you to @netgalley and @christinalauren for allowing me to read a copy of the Soulmate Equation in exchange for an honest review. Pick up your copy on May for 18!

I loved this book; it was a great romance read. The characters were so very likable. From single mom Jess, her 7 yr old daughter Juno, best friend Fizzy, the grandparents who raised her and Jess's love interest River. I really wanted things to work out for all of them. I loved the nerdy science plot and the sense of community where Jess lives. I have read several other books by Christina Lauren. I would say this is my favorite.

Christina Lauren is my favorite romance writing duo of authors and I was so excited to get an advanced copy of this book.

In The Soulmate Equation, we meet Jess. She's a single mom in CA trying to make it and thrive with her daughter, and she'd tired of the dating scene. Her friend Frizzie encourages her not to give up and then they learn about a local matching making company that is about to go public. GeneticAlly focuses on finding the genes people have in common that means they would be a good match. Jess is skeptical but decides to give it a try when she gets an amazing score with her local coffeeshop asshole and board member at GeneticAlly.

River is the mind behind the science at GeneticAlly and when he finds out about his score with Jess he wants to give it a chance. This could be everything he's been looking for and it would be great for the company. River and Jess agree to give things a trial until the company goes public, and in the meantime, they fall pretty hard for each other. When the question of the authenticity of their results comes into question River and Jess have to decide if the number determined their attraction or if it exists no matter their scores.

In the last year, I have recently become obsessed with the best friend duo authors, Christina Lauren. Even though romance is not typically my first choice, their novels always have romance with humor that make me laugh out loud. As soon as I saw they had a new book coming out, I knew I just had to get my hands on it!

The Soulmate Equation by Christina Lauren has a new twist of a romance novel that I have never seen done before. The main character, Jess, is a single mother who is a little nerdy with numbers as her job and no desire to date. She discovers the new dating app called “GeneticAlly “which claims the app can discover your soulmate based on compatible DNA. On a whim, Jess spits into the tube, only to find out that her 98% match is the cold, stubborn founder of the company, that she often sees in her local coffee shop. Will the DNA be accurate? How much does fate play a role in love?

This book for me could not have come at a better time. I am newly single and are on the dating apps (ugh dating in a pandemic) and so wish I could find my soulmate through DNA. I related so much to Jess and River and could not put this book down. Christina Lauren continues their humor; however, I have found their previous books funnier. If you are not into genetics/science, then this may not be the book for you since there are biological terms and statistical language. Overall, I fell in love with the characters and the unique concept of finding a soulmate. I give this book 4.5/ 5 stars and will recommend it to anyone when it comes out May 18th.

I won’t lie, I was a little nervous to start this book given I didn’t really love Christina Lauren’s last book but Soulmate Equation is a five star book for me.

Jess is a single mom who hasn’t made dating a priority. River is a scientist turned matchmaker after his company has created a way to match people through a DNA test. They’re both shocked when they not only match, but get the highest match possible from the test. They begin to date to see if their test results are real.

Thank you Gallery Books for my copy of this book!

Ok- I am 1000% blaming Christina Lauren for my actions of staying up way too late and waking up way too early to finish this book. I could NOT sit through my entire workday not knowing how this was going to end. This is a GEM of a book. Such a unique and refreshing storyline, and I am a sucker for a nerdy and sweet love story. River and Jess are adorable characters and Fizzy is an amazing best friend- I loved her character a lot. I can NOT recommend this enough.

I am a puddle – every emotion has oozed out of me after the storm that is The Soulmate Equation. Seriously, could I love this book more? It’s not possible!

5 swoon-worthy stars for Christina Lauren. My heart has melted, AGAIN!

Jess is a hardworking, whip-smart, single mother who never lets a day pass without making sure those she loves know it. She doesn’t give her own happiness a second thought. After having a mostly absent mother herself, this has driven her to be the best, most involved and present mother she can be. Thankfully, Jess has the best support system in her Nana Jo and Pops, who raised her from the young age of six, and are still there today with laughs and love and smiles. And who can forget Fizzy, her sassy, loving, sex-crazed best friend!

One day while diligently working at their neighborhood café, Twiggs, Fizzy and Jess are presented with an interesting opportunity – to learn about a new dating app that is about to revolutionize the game – using DNA. The best part, their invitation comes from hottie McHotterson, River Pena, the eye-candy Twiggs regular who founded the company. Quickly, Jess learns that she has matched, on a cellular level, and at the highest match the company has EVER seen, with Dr. Hottie! The question is, what will she do with this information?

I am in love with this story! Jess is totally relatable as a single-mother just trying to make the world right. Juno is the most darling of young children; she’s astoundingly bright, observant, and somehow totally gets the world at her young age of seven. Fizzy brings in this light and humor that is beyond amazing – if only all women could have a BFF like her. I cried from laughing so hard.

Add to my tears the joys of a crush, the tensions of a new love, the nervousness of being left alone, the truth of heartbreak – ugh – I LOVE THIS BOOK!! I am not bothered one bit that the story was predictable – I just plain don’t care. It’s all about the road taken – the journey I’m lead on. And I will take this journey again and again. I will also read any book Christina Lauren writes – the talent is just that good! Mark it down, May 18th, the day your heart will explode (and also the day this book hits shelves)!

Thank you to NetGalley, Gallery Books, and Christina Lauren for the generous gift of an eARC in exchange for my honest review.

Another great read by Christina Lauren! The Soulmate Equation was another great read, one of my favorites of CL's books so far. A great job of character development with some amazing relationships. It's crazy to think that our genes could tell so much about our personality and characteristics- and if this were not fiction, it's crazy to think how science can find the right mate for us.

Thanks to Netgalley for a chance to read this book for an honest review.

I have yet to meet a Christina Lauren book that I didn't love, and this is no exception!

The Soulmate Equation was such a cute read. I found myself invested in the characters and really rooting for them from the beginning. Like most Christina Lauren books, this was pretty predictable but I don't say that in a bad way. When I read rom-com, I expect them to be somewhat predictable. These aren't books and stories I am reading because I want be kept guessing the whole time. The fun of these novels isn't trying to figure out who is going to end up with who, but rather being taken along for the ride and getting to see a relationship unfold That is exactly what we get to do with Jess and River.

River and Jess would be the first people to tell you they are NOT meant for each other - no way, no how. Then River's new genetically based match making company says they're a 98% match - essentially soulmates. Skeptical at best, Jess is given an incentive to test out the science and give it a chance..

This is a feel good story about family, love, friendship and all the bumps and pivots that need to be made along the way to a possible happily ever after.

Thank you NetGalley, and Gallery Books for the advanced copy and the opportunity to read this book! All thoughts are my own.
