This is the second book in the Devlin and Falco series and it didn't disappoint. The story took twists and turns and kept a good pace - no chapter was too long and there were even a few short ones in there which I appreciate in a mystery.
There were two intertwined storylines that came together at the end and even though the main mystery wrapped up nicely, there was just enough of the characters story left that makes me want to read book 3, the final book in the series.
Okay. First of all, why is Sadie Cross not the main character??
It would've been epic if the whole book was written from her point of view. Honestly, Kerri wasn't main character material. I wouldn't say I hated her, but I really didn't care for her either. Almost all she did was just reacting to what was happening to other characters. There was nothing that set her apart.
Sadie, on the other hand, was full of details, a multilayered character. Her backstory was super intriguing, I was so curious to know what happened to her years ago, and I loved how she went through the investigation and her conclusions for each step.
.
The pace sort of picked up gradually. It started slow with the first murders, and as they went through the investigation process, everything started to move faster and faster, which made it hard to put down the book.
Even the writing style got smoother as the scenes unraveled, the author's relief to start the action was quite apparent.
.
The ending gave me the closure I needed, the loose ends were tied up, and everything was solved.
However, the backstory of Alice Cortez definitely needed more expanding, it wasn't that something didn't make sense, it was more of, there should've been more, you get me?
Also, I need a book about Sadie, I want to know the next step for her, I want a women's fiction for my girl. She deserves it after what she went through.
.
Overall, I enjoyed it so much, and it's definitely one of my favorite this year.
*I received an ARC of this book through netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review*
Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.
This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). Thank you for the opportunity and apologies for the inconvenience.
I enjoy the Devlin and Falco thrillers. There's always lots going on - a big juicy plot with a lot of subplots and great characters. I won't give a synopsis, you can find that anywhere, but I will say to read and enjoy!
What a great crime thriller! This is the 2nd installment in the Devlin & Falco series by this author. Kerry Devlin and Luke Falco are best friends and detectives for the Birmingham, AL police department. The main story line has them investigating a double homicide at a local bar, the victims are the Assistant DA and the bar owner with no obvious motive. There are a few other sub plots happening as well, creating an intricate and multilayered story. I enjoyed the camaraderie between Devlin and Falco and the many twists and turns kept me flipping the pages. Thank you Netgalley, Thomas & Mercer, and the author for this eARC in exchange for my honest review. Available to read now!
As always Delta's books are not to be ignored. She one of several author that I love to read.
Debra never disappoints that's for sure
A deliciously intense major league thriller ! I highly recommend ! Loved this book !!! Thanks to Netgalley and Thomas and Mercer for the opportunity to read and review this book ! Opinions are solely my own ! #Netgalley

I so loved this book! A great mystery with an amazing storyline! I was hooked from page one! I would highly recommend this book to everyone!
4.5 stars.
Though extremely delayed in reading this series (because I didn’t have book 1), I have finally gotten to it! And let me tell you, I was pleasantly surprised — a thriller with an easy to follow plot that keeps you intrigued, but doesn’t feel like the same story I’ve read 100 times before. Will definitely keep coming back for more Debra Webb!
Falco and Devlin are partners solving the top murders in Birmingham, Al. They have been called out to a murder of two men, one who is the newest big-shot DA. There a drug cartel in town that is connected. There is also some personal stuff going on with Devlin’s daughter and a bully at school. I really like Debra Webb’s books and this one was pretty twisty and a quick read.
Gone too Far is a fast-paced story with so many ups and downs, twists and turns, and then you find out that everything is related to something else! But it is entertaining, the plot is good, and the characters are dense and well put together. I have not read the previous book in the series but I could understand what was going on in this story without problems.
I downloaded a free copy of this book through NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.
Debra Webb writes a true who done it! There are several crimes and mysteries and so many who done it’s that you just can’t possibly get bored. You have this group over here that you think can’t possibly be smart enough to have a thing of their own going on, WRONG! The group you’re sure you have figured out, THINK AGAIN! Debra I love your books, keep writing.
I have read this entire series and Debra Webb never disappoints! The cliff hanger and story lines keep we going each and every time. The way she builds the characters! AMAZING!
I am loving Devlin and Falco. The first novel things were a bit awkward but seems they are getting things more adjusted and I love it! Debra is a master at weaving a web so intricate but it all ties up neat and nice. Loved every minute of Gone Too Far, and at times wanted to throttle Miss Alice 😬 loved Sadie too. Thank you Netgalley! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Second book in a series, it can be read as a standalone but had spoilers if you're going to go back to read the first one.
I liked this one more than the first book. Like that story, there's some cheesy dialogue and over the top coincidences, but it was still an exciting, fast paced read. I would have liked to have seen more of this friendship the partners have developed and I *really* hope it stays a friendship.
In this second installment, Luke Falco and Kerri Devlin are assigned to a case with political potential while Kerri's daughter is involved in a very sticky case at her private school.
Kerri is definitely distracted with her daughter's situation, which truthfully was so much more interesting than the double murder case. I don't want to spill too many details here, but I did like that part of the book and how it gets resolved.
This story really revolves around another interesting character in this series, Sadie Cross. A friend to Luke, Sadie is smart and savvy and damaged from her years undercover. In Gone Too Far, Sadie recovers some lost memories that could have her in danger too.
I really like this series, mostly because I like Kerri and Luke. Together or apart, the pages move along, especially when they are working together. I really enjoy the understated relationship between them and between Luke and Kerri's daughter Tori.
Another interesting mystery in this crime drama series.
This book was sent to me as an ARC on NetGalley. However all opinions are of my own.
I, unfortunately didn’t read the first book but felt like this book would be okay as a stand alone too.
Really enjoyed the story line on this one.
Great book. Highly recommend and will most defiantly read more by this author and suggest to others!
Gone Too Far is book #2 in the Devlin & Falco Trilogy. Debra Webb does it again with twist and turns that you never see coming. Devlin and Falco immediately are involved in a very high profile double homicide.
Unfortunately, once again, Devlin’s family is involved in a side story. Sadie Cross is also in this story, Cross is the ex BPD officer and now private investigator trying to make sense of her past as well as assist if she can with Devin and Falco’s case.
Needless to say, this is a much read. I can’t wait to read the final book of the trilogy. No one does it any better than Debra Webb!
