Marvel's "Black Panther: Sins of the King" offers an exploration of T'Challa's complex world, intertwining political intrigue, cultural depth, and superhero action. The positive narrative commits to honoring the legacy of the Black Panther while introducing new challenges. The story delves into T'Challa's struggles as he grapples with the burdens of leadership and the consequences of his choices. The vibrant world-building vividly captures Wakanda's rich tapestry, celebrating its traditions and innovations.
T'Challa discovers a long-buried secret that threatens not only Wakanda but also his own lineage. This revelation propels him into a high-stakes journey, testing the limits of his strength and the resilience of his kingdom. The dynamic character interactions, particularly with familiar faces like Shuri and Okoye, inject warmth and humor into the narrative.
At times, "Sins of the King" seems rushed or underdeveloped due to pacing issues. While the artwork is visually stunning, occasional inconsistencies may distract readers. Despite some pacing and artistic hiccups, it remains a must-read for fans invested in the Wakandan legacy.
Marvel's Black Panther: Sins of the King
This book was a quick and short read, but so good to read. If you are fan of the Marvelverse you will absolutely love this book. The book has a steady pace and the characters are familiar. T'Challa strives for excellence as he tries to navigate both political and personal issues. Different authors tell different sides of the same story of T'Challa balancing politics and self, while trying to defend Wakanda and suffering from dizzy spells. Meanwhile the enemy is closer then you think while, drawing past king T'Chaka from the afterlife. Definitely are worthwhile read.
I can see my students enjoying this book. It is a fast paced fun story. I read the ebook, but wish I could have listened to the audiobook. I think I would have enjoyed it more.
Fun, quick read. It reads like a graphic novel while being a prose book. I think it might have actually worked better in graphic novel format, but overall I enjoyed it. The characters were consistent with their expected personality. Formatting was a little odd. Plenty of action to keep the reader entertained.
This is a well written adventure with some interesting twists. It has the feel of an MCU film, with great action and familiar characters, with a couple unexpected ones popping up. It was a fun read.
In all honesty I thought i was getting a graphic novel but was surprised when I got a novel.. It was well written however and I was able to get passed my initial confusion quickly to dive into the story. I enjoyed T'Challa's characterization, and believe it to hold true to the movies so many people are familiar with. Good read for anyone who enjoys the cinematic universe and just wants more Black Panther in their life.
Unable to read this on my Kindle for some reason so unfortunately can't review, but the line-up in authors here is straight up gorgeous. Will pick up a physical copy.
I love Black Panther and this was no exception. I only wanted it to be longer!
This story takes place after the Black Panther movie, where Wakanda has opened itself up to the world.
The excitement is when a former Black Panther is resurrected from the ancestral plane. There's only supposed to be one Black Panther! (It reminds me of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and how there's only supposed to be one but when Buffy technically dies and is resuscitated, another Slayer is called.)
I've been on a Marvel kick lately and realized I hadn't read any Black Panther comics, and the sad thing is I wasn't familiar with the character until I saw Captain America Civil War. And I got to say the comic lived up to the hype. Black Panther is an awesome character in his own right. The artwork was stunning. I know that I will be reading more of the comics in the future.
Marvel's Black Panther: Sins of the King was written by many talented authors who knew how to captivate their readers. We've all heard/read/seen Black Panther but this takes on a different scene which is refreshing and entertaining. I highly recommned to those who enjoy a great "old" story with a refreshing new twist and new dangers.
I suppose I would prefer graphic novels when reading Marvel. It was action packed for sure but really didn't hold my attention.
I love Marvel and I am glad to see more books on Black Panther. I look forward to reading more.about Wakanda.
This was a fun book to read. It took me a bit to get into it, but it was still a good book that addressed a lot of cultural issues. The Avengers team up brought some humor and honestly just love Misty Knight so much. Seriously a badass. I feel like we were able to see different sides of T'Challa and Shuri than just what we've seen in the movies. Watching the heroes fail and then have to come back was really exciting and definitely made these characters feels more human.
Clearly meant as an avengers script, this has all the elements for a great movie, but it's not a great book. Too much rehashing of old themes and with Graviton as the enemy, a little out there. But it's still fun to see how these movies start.
As a huge Black Panther fan, it kills me to my core to say that I could not finish this book. I'd love to highlight that the problem wasn't in the format or writing style at all. The plot just didn't catch my attention enough to push myself and still give it a try. Cuz' I tried, whenever I picked it up I'd start reading and dropping it a few pages later.
I wanna still thank the author and publisher for their kindness in sending me a copy. I'll sure recommend it to my friends. Thanks and sorry again that it wasn't for me.
After the death of Chadwick Boseman, this was a bittersweet read b/c as I was reading this, his portrayel of T'Challa was what I pictured. My heart though...
Marvel's Black Panther: Sins of the King fires on all cylinders. It's a very well-written story that will have both fans of the character and newcomers enjoying all things T'Challa and Wakanda. I would encourage everyone to check out the audiobook from Serial Box. It is extremely well-voiced and adds another layer of greatness to an already great script.
It starts off slow and kind of dense, but once the action begins, it's hard to resist the story as it drives forward. It reads as a true epic, one that makes you feel the world really has been reshaped as you read it. Would recommend.
Exactly what I wanted, and now I want to pick up the audiobook! Black Panther fans should definitely check this one out.
I received this e-book ARC from Netgalley of a SerialBox audiobook. But I thought it was a graphic novel. I'd rather read my superheroes in graphic novel form than book form. This story was okay. I'm not huge into Black Panther and the formatting on the e-book was just garbage so it was difficult to get through. I'm not sure where it falls in the Marvel timeline because it seemed both before and after. A little confusing. It definitely would've been better in audio form, as it was originally intended. I may listen to the other ones in this series.
