This is a cute book that teaches kids that it's okay to get mad, but to find solutions to fix your problems. All he had to do was wiggle and jiggle and the dirt came off.
Pickerton is a darling children's story that shows what happens when your day does not go as planned. The rhyming and vibrant illustrations kept my children's attention focused on what Pickerton will do now that he is no longer clean. By jiggling to get mud off him he was able to make the best out of a sticky situation. A delightful read that is sure to entertain other children. Thank you Netgalley and Victory Editing Netgalley Co-Op for the opportunity to read this book.
Pickerton is a pig who liked to be clean. We had a laugh about that as pigs usually like mud. He didn’t like to be dirty, so scrubbed himself every morning. One day when he got off the bus, he landed in a mud puddle. He was angry at first, but then decided he would try and shake the mud off. He did the Pickerton Jiggle and it kept him from getting into a bad mood. This was a simple story, but it has a powerful message. First, I have to say that I had to read it a couple of times with my granddaughter jumping up to do the Pickerton Jiggle. My grandson is on the autism spectrum and he immediately got upset on Pinkerton's behalf. We talked about how Pickerton decided not to let it upset himself. He told me he tries to do that when something bad happens but it doesn't always work. He decided he would keep trying, especially when he saw how much fun his sister was having. The illustrations are large, vibrant and fun. The text was written in a rhyming way that had a good cadence that made it easy to read aloud. We definitely like this one.
Pickerton, who does not like to get dirty, accidentally stepped in mud. He was mad that he had to go to school while messy. Will Pinkerton learn to make the best of his day? This was a fun story for young kids who can jiggle along and play like pickerton.
How stinking cute is this book! I enjoyed reading this to my 6 and 4 year old and the absolutely loved it! This easy to follow rhyming book follows Pickerton the pig as he goes about his day. This little pig who "dared not get dirty" accidentally jumped into a mud puddle and could have easily ruined his day if he let it bother him too much. But instead, he literally shook it off with a jiggle. I thought this book was a super great example for my kids that although they can be angry and upset, they don't have to let something ruin their day. Aside from the awesome message, this book had great illustrations and was super fun to read. I would highly recommend this book to parents of little kids It would make a great addition to any children's library.
I voluntarily reviewed this book after receiving a free copy.
Oh this book was so refreshing! It had it all, great writing, rhyming and the best pictures!
I loved it and so did the girls, we explored this one together and boy, did they have fun with it!
The rhyming really was excellent and they were captivated from start to finish, no time for questions until the very end, eager to get to through it to see what happens!
The message in this book was fab and one all kids need to learn about just getting on with no matter what and especially when bad things are going on, do something that puts a smile on your face and I'm happy to say it's one we will be reading again and again, it has made the shelf and a lesson we can refer back to again and again!
The pictures in this book are great and I loved them and so did the kids, they couldn't wait to see what happened next and they wanted a re-read.
I want to thank Netgalley, the publishers and that author, Riya Aarini for this great read, and I look forward to buying this in the new year when it's released, roll on Feb 2021!
This was a beautifully illustrated book about a little pig’s day. There wasn’t much of a story or conflict, but this would still be a good read for young children.
This was a really cute book; I like how Pickerton dealt with the unexpected mud and how it affected his day. The illustration were fun and colorful.
Thank you NetGalley for the DRC.
This is a children's book I read to my three kids. The message in this book was so good, and I love it. I found this message one of learning to move on for the bad things that happen. I have been working with my son that has autism to learn to move on for change or something not great that happens, and this book is great to help him see the pig got dirty and he was able to keep going. I am trying to working to reading more books to my kids, and I love finding great books like this one for them. They enjoyed it to. The pictures was so cute and kept the kids looking and wanting more. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher or author (Riya Aarini) via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review about how I feel about this book, and I want to send a big Thank you to them for that. This book is schedule to be release on February 20-2021.
Myself and my 4 year old son loved Pickerton' Jiggle.
The rhyming was brilliant and the illustrations were lovely. It is a quick read which is perfect for the age of child that it is aimed at. It kept my son engaged all the way through and he asked many questions about it which showed me he was enjoying it and understanding the story.
Thank you to NetGalley and Riya Aarini for my ARC.
The rhyming was absolutely perfect in this book. It is fun to read aloud. It also teaches little ones in a fun way a great lesson about overcoming difficulty. I loved this book and will read it again and again. Plus Pickerton Wickerton is an absolutely adorable pig! Lovely illustrations.
*Thanks to Victory Editing and NetGalley for this Ebook in exchange for my honest review
I was given a free copy of this book for an honest review by Net Gallery. Cute children’s book that follows the day of an extremely clean pig. I read this book with my three year old. She really liked it. She especially thought the pig was cute. The book was written to rhyme, although I felt some of the lines were a bit wordy. Overall I’d give it five stars as my three year old sat still and listened to the whole book.
Pickerton's Jiggle
This children's book I read to my 4 year old child.
We thoroughly enjoyed this book, how it rhymed was a fun and quick way to read and it kept my child engaged with the story. The book was the perfect length for the attention span of a child around that age.
My child was captivated with the illustrations accompanying the book, they were beautiful and very detailed. We went back over the book again after finishing reading and talked together about Pickerton's day. How he got scrubbed in the bath, and him getting dirty. My child thought Pickerton was a silly little pig doing his jiggle, he laughed many times throughout the book.
This is definitely a story we will use at bedtime again. It was really suited to his age group. Having a child's kindle fire he was able to share my account also and is able to view the book and swipe through pages on his own.
Thankyou for giving us access to such a beautiful children's book.
Pickerton's Jiggle is a quaint little rhyming book about a pig who likes to stay clean and perfect. You can imagine that this obviously isn't always possible, and the plot thickens when mess occurs. It is a lovelt little book to read to those children who perhaps have OCD tendencies or who struggle simply with being dirty. It encourages children to find the fun in mess, and while parenting and working in education Im aware of how often I've said "if they're messy, it means they've had fun".
We enjoyed the book. I consider myself quite strong in my ability to sight-read and found the rhyming was often a little askew, but this did not affect the children's enjoyment and I am sure it is one we will read together again.
Fantastic!! Read this to my 4 year old boy and he loved it! The art work is fantastic and the story was really engaging.
A cute little story to remind kids to “shake off” the things that would ruin their day. Very colorful illustrations, and charming lines.
I would’ve loved to see the character with friends though. He seems a tad lonely and self-absorbed, even calling himself his own “best friend”. Other that, a cute little read for your littles.
