Thank you to Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. This thriller draws you in immediately with a tale of a woman that has lost her memory and has no idea how she ended up running through the woods next to a highway. Luckily she runs into a kind stranger that takes her in. Then the story starts flipping back and forth....this is when it gets good. We start hearing from a man that has lost his wife and has been searching for her for two years. Could they be the same person? Like all of Liv Constatine's books, you can expect a fast-paced thriller with some twists. This one will not let you down. It is a bit predictable but nonetheless enjoyable. Solid 3.5 stars. This is a must purchase for any public library.
Liv Constantine is quickly rising to the top of my list for the best psychological thrillers! This book is a home run on so many levels. Characters are well developed, as is the story line, and will keep you guessing the whole way through. Diving into the "darker and more controversial side" of hypnosis and false memories, this is a must for fans that love a mystery to get lost in. Recommending for my book club in 2021! #thestrangerinthemirror #livconstantine #netgalley
Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book. Once again, Liv Constantine hits it out of the park. This is a creepy book, on so many levels. The characters are well done and the situation is downright scary. Grabbed me early on and I would have finished quicker if Real Life didn't get in the way!
The Stranger in the Mirror is so good, I have no idea how anyone could not give it a 5 star review! Instantly I was sucked in and wanted to know what happened to the main character, Addison, after she has no memory of her past. The characters in the story are so well developed, there were times I forgot I was reading a book and that it wasn’t real life. The plot twists are so unpredictable, I never saw the shocking ending! Every book by Liv Constantine is amazing!
I really enjoyed this novel and felt their was a lot of originality to the plot which is sometimes lacking with the amount of thrillers on the shelves. There were quite a few surprising plot elements that kept the story moving forward at a good clip. Worth a read!
This book had me on the edge of my seat. I stayed up reading last night until I dropped my kindle on my head because I fell asleep. Lol! Thank you @netgalley , @harperbooks and @livconstantine2 for the advanced readers copy of this book. I highly recommend this book. It will be out July 6, 2021. Get your preorders in now!
I so look forward to Liv Constantine’s books. The are consistently edgy and fast-paced. It’s a fascinating glance into a truly evil mind and I can’t get enough. The only drawback for me was that this is very similar to an earlier book by them, so the plot was completely fresh as it was with their last book. Still an excellent read overall.
Many thanks to, Netgalley, Harper and Liv Constantine for my complimentary e-copy ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
I always eagerly await new titles by the Constantine sisters. They continue to shock me, and I pretty much devour their novels. I enjoyed thos one just as much as I did the last few books, and it reinforced for me something my mom has told me since I was a teenager: That sometimes psychiatrists are "crazier" than the people they treat. It also strengthened my resolve to never undergo hypnotherapy! Thos book was hard to put down, and further cemented Liv Constantine as one of my top three authors. Absolutely will look for future titles and continue to recommend the novels already published! Thank you t[ the publisher for allowing my to read and ARC of this book.
This book is great! Would definitely recommend. Thanks so much to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
Luv Constantine is my new favorite author! Following up “ The Last Mrs. Parish” with this amazing thriller has secured favorite author status! The twists and turns and loops will leave you dizzy as you work your way to the surprise ending!
Addison Hope has no idea who she is - and hasn’t for two years. She was picked up by a kind trucker on the side of the road in New Jersey and taken to Philadelphia with complete amnesia. She built a life with this new identity, and is engaged to be married to a wonderful man, with a wealthy family. But Addy begins to get flashbacks of her former life - and none of them are pleasant.
Meanwhile, Julian and 7 year old Valentina have been searching for their wife and mother, Cassandra, who disappeared in Boston. Cassandra vanished like a ghost, leaving her purse, phone and wallet behind without a trace. But Julian, a wealthy doctor, has been holding out hope for Cassandra’s safe return.
The Stranger in the Mirror is a fascinating novel that delves deeply into the minds of Addison, Julian and Blythe (Addison’s soon to be mother-in-law). The author does a fantastic job of hooking the reader in early, in the present day and then whipping back around in the past 3/4 of the way through the story for a whopper of an ending. Fantastic narration and plot!
This is the second book I have read by Liv Constantine. While I loved the first book, this one left me feeling a bit confused. I really enjoyed the first part of the book; when I got to Part II, things started to go downhill for me at that point. I found the story line confusing and hard to follow, and honestly, a bit unrealistic. I did like the last chapter where the authors wrapped up the story but overall it wasn't a favorite. Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for the advanced copy.
Thanks to the publisher for approving me for a galley! I requested because I love amnesia stories and finished this one last night, but spent the last half of the book skimming and only finished because I wanted to see if the twist would end up being worth it. For me, it wasn't; the over-the-top concept behind it could have worked in theory, but the execution wasn't satisfying enough, especially when it was obvious ten percent of the way in what the overall deal was going to be and the details of how that was going to play out were the only thing to keep reading for. It also didn't help that I was hoping for something like a more domestic suspense version of The Long Kiss Goodnight, and The Stranger in the Mirror ended up being more of a cross between My Sweet Audrina (albeit with a different trauma and an adult woman instead of a young girl) and elements of Gaslight and Rebecca, but without either the plausibility or the literary style to pull it off.
