If you've read any Clancy novels, whether written by him or one of his successors, you know what you're looking for and you get it... lots of action and intrigue, good characters, and military strategy. If you haven't... why not? You can pick up in any story along the way as enough background information is always included. Another winner!
I enjoyed this book immensely. This is the first Op-Center and Jeff Robin book I've read so I wasn't familiar with the characters or the function of Op-Center. It didn't matter because Rovin summarizes who everyone is and the role they play so well. The plot is complex and feels almost ripped from the headlines. In fact, it isn't hard to imagine the plot occurring today. There are a lot politics involved but Rovin does a tremendous job of not preaching to the reader. I couldn't tell if he is a democrat, republican, whig, whatever: it made the book more enjoyable and balanced.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the chance to read an advanced copy of The Black Order.
It's been years since I read a Clancy novel. I used to devour them. Unfortunately, in this case, I guess that time has passed. I made it through about the first 15% of this novel, and couldn't go on. I was just totally overwhelmed with the use of acronyms. It seemed like almost every paragraph introduced a new one. It was very confusing, and really took away from any enjoyment. Just not for me. Based on other's reviews, I realize that I am obviously in a minority when it comes to feeling this way. I don't want to penalize the author with a bad review based on this. Therefore, I won't be leaving feedback on this title at any of my usual locations. I'll just chalk it up to the discovery that Clancy is no longer in my wheelhouse. Sorry, but thanks for the opportunity to read this book.
Much like the other books in the Tom Clancy series, this one grabbed a hold of me as a reader and I didn't want it to end.
It was filled with action, suspense, and plenty of drama!
Amazing book! The story sucks you in and you will not put it down till you reach the end. You get lost in the twists and turns that you can’t wait to see where it goes next.
Tom Clancy has been called the father of thrillers, and The Black Order is no exception. It is a satisfying and entertaining read, and a worthy addition to the revived series, and giving more insight into a world that, recently, hasn't felt too far from home.
This was great thriller that reads like tomorrows news paper . It was one of one of the more interesting books in revival of this series .

I am always apprehensive when approaching one of this continuation novels, but this absolutely lives up to the high standards of a Tom Clancy novel. I found myself feverishly reading to see where the story took me and was left wanting more at the end.
