I was about a third of the way through this book, and I was having my doubts about it. I like strong female lead characters, and Sophie just didn't seem to cut it. She was almost too good to be true. The protagonist Cordelia was a hair above the Kardashians in my mind, and I just wanted to slap her silly!
However, I persevered and kept reading. And I am so glad I did. There was so much character growth from both parties that I was actually unhappy that the book ended. I wanted to see what the secret bridesmaid would do with her possible next royal bride!
This was definitely a great read, a perfect read for the beach or a mini-at home vacation. I highly recommend this book to those who loved Miranda Priestlys' character in "The Devil Wears Prada," or any other good vs. misunderstood evil!

A charming romantic comedy. Sophie is a professional bridesmaid. She is hired to help brides prepare for their weddings, but pretends to be their best friend – giving the bride freedom and support without a tacky wedding planner. Until she is hired to be a bridesmaid for the illustrious Cordelia – part of a famous family in the UK.
This story had me laughing at many parts. The communications at the end of every chapter were hilarious! I really liked the pace, and the characters were fun. There weren’t graphic sex scenes or a lot of alone time between Sophie and the guy she was attracted to (Tom), which I liked. It was easy and funny! I think it was a great novel and I enjoyed the story.
Thank you Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press for this ARC. This was an enjoyable read... something I may consider sharing with my book clubs.

Imagine one of the most stressful days of your life - your wedding day. The planning, the coordinating - you work on this one day for months, sometimes over a year. Now imagine if you could hire someone that would help you through it all. Someone who specializes in it but also would be your friend through it all, help and guide, not plan and control. That's Sophie's job, and honestly I couldn't imagine it! But Sophie does it seamlessly.
I loved reading the exchanges that were mixed throughout the chapters of someone of the things these brides had Sophie doing but also the times that she calmed them down and maneuvered them through chaos and worry. But the main wedding was rough. That bride was awful and it was hard to read sometimes. I loved that the romance part was really light. Well written and really entertaining, I loved this one!

Sophie Breeze is a professional bridesmaid. Not in a 27 Dresses kind of way (although she is that too), but in a wedding planner/bridal personal assistant kind of way. She gets paid to be the bride's right-hand woman, doing anything from actual wedding planning to bridezilla whispering to Chewbacca impersonating.
On a previous client's recommendation, she lands a high society wedding that could take her business to another level, all she has to do is put up with the bride, Lady Cordelia Swann. Sophie isn't surprised that she's stuck up or demanding, but Cordelia isn't pleased that Sophie is basically a hired friend her mother hired and will go to any lengths to get her to quit. And I do mean any. Sophie just needs to survive until her New Year's Eve wedding and when her business soars, it will all be worth it!
This book is incredibly charming and dare I say it, laugh out loud funny. No seriously, I almost teared up at the Chewbacca scene - I won't ruin it, but do yourself a favor and read it for yourself. While the plot is heavy on Sophie's growth and the relationship between Sophie and Cordelia, there is a smattering of romance thrown in. If you're looking for a true romance, this isn't it, but if you just want a fun book that will keep you entertained from the first page to the last, check out The Secret Bridesmaid.

So I think this story is more women’s fiction with a splash of romance but it doesn’t matter, because I absolutely loved this story. I devoured the entire book in one setting and wanted more. 😂 The plot was original and very funny at times. Do not read this next to a sleeping toddler. 😅 All the characters were amazing too, this is just great story that’s quick and really does put a smile on your face.

I loved this! Very cute book. A professional bridesmaid is something I had never heard of before, but what a cool concept! A lot of the end of chapter exchanges made me laugh! I also liked that while it did have it's own little bit of romance in here, the story had more of a heartwarming friendship feel to it. I definitely recommend this book!

I promise--if you too have a napping baby as your reading companion-- you will wake him up while you try to hold in your laughter. This book was so funny, adorable, and heartwarming. At first I thought I was going to be reading a re-make of the movie 27 Dresses, but the frequency in which the main character is in a bridesmaid's dress is where the similarities end. This was light-hearted, easy reading, but with characters you cannot help but love and root for--even when they are bridezillas. Romance vibes were excellent. Female friendships, empowerment, celebration of setting boundaries, and being brave enough to be yourself--what is not to love, I ask you?

A lovely and funny rom com set in the cutthroat world of weddings and bridezillas. A great fun of a novel!

My wi-fi was down all day on Sunday so I took advantage of my time and read the entire book in one day. Of course it's a sweet little rom-com but once you take it for what it is and settle in, you become involved rather quickly.
There is a happy ending but who doesn't need something that you can depend on to be happy and sweet? The characters are fun and easy to get to know. I caught myself wanting to know what would happen next and getting excited for the main character.
Not a heavy book but a sweet one and one that I would recommend.

As a professional bridesmaid, Sophie is hired by London brides to be their right-hand woman, posing as a friend but working behind the scenes to help plan the perfect wedding and ensure their big day goes off without a hitch.
The Secret Bridesmaid is light-hearted and quick read that makes you laugh and smile. This novel was more women fiction than romance. Sure there was a little romance thrown into the storyline. Still, I would not call this book a contemporary romance. The text was occasionally broken up by texts or emails for various weddings she was working, which made it more interesting, but sometimes also hard to follow as there was not always an explanation which was talking to whom.
I found myself skipping over a lot of the descriptions to get straight to the dialogue.

This was a duplicate order. Not sure how but this has a different front cover to the original one I reviewed? Is one an American version?

This was a fun and quick book to read and I'd say is more women's fiction than romance. While there is a little love in there this is more about friendship and trusting in others.
Sophie is a professional bridesmaid and she's met her match when Cordelia, a former society girl's mom hires her. Cordelia hates the idea and puts Sophie though many hoops trying to convince her to quit.
The writing was humorous and I loved the random emails at the end of each chapter! This is a perfect Spring afternoon book to read!

Y’all... I absolutely devoured this book. It was such a great read especially because I usually read thrillers. The main character was so much fun to read!! Seriously amazing, go and read this one!

This book was cute. Overall, I enjoyed it and it was the perfect light, fun read to make me laugh after a few heavier reads I recently finished. I wasn't sold on Sophie at first, but she really grew on me.
I won't give spoilers, but I will say that the climax had me seething and then it was suddenly just fixed. I couldn't transition from angry to over it as quickly as it all happened in the book, which did bother me. And some of the problems could have been easily resolved and they weren't.

Like any. good romantic comedy, this book starts out with an improbable premise. Yet this book is a bit more about the new friendship than the main romantic plot; and all the more satisfying for it. I soon set aside my suspicion that no one could possibly make a living as a professional bridesmaid to become fully immersed in this hilarious, adorable buddy comedy. I fully expect to see it as a movie one day.

This book was a delightful British romcom. If you are looking for a cute fun read The Secret Bridesmaid is perfect for you. This is the first book I have read by Katy Birchall and I am excited to see what she writes next.
Sophie is a professional bridesmaid, which is a person who helps a bride do whatever she needs to plan her wedding. Sophie ends up getting hired by Lady Victoria to help her daughter Lady Cordella plan her wedding. But, Lady Cordella is not happy about having a secret bridesmaid so she makes Sophie’s job harder than usual. We learn a lot about the main character's past as the story progresses. The secondary characters also add an aspect to the story and they are a great addition to the storyline.
The Secret Bridesmaid is a story of friendship with a little romance thrown in. The story had a lot of laughs throughout the story. Even though the story has a lot of laughs thrown in there are also serious topics that are brought up in the story.
Thank you to St. Martin’s Press and Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book before it comes out.

Sophie Breeze is a bridesmaid for hire. She’s not a wedding planner, but more like a PA for the bride and she’s really good at her job. But can she survive the ultimate Bridezilla who is determined for her to quit? I LOVED this book. It has the perfect combination of friendship, love, and humor. It reads quickly and you fall in love with all the characters.

This a unique and adorable work of women’s fiction with a touch of romance! Sophie Breeze provides professional bridesmaid services, offering brides help with wedding planning as well as a reliable shoulder to lean on. Her life is hilariously disrupted when she is hired to assist with a royal wedding involving a bride who will do nearly anything to get rid of her. I felt such joy reading this book as I laughed out loud at the many outrageous scenarios in which Sophie finds herself. Devoted and witty, Sophie is a delightfully complex character with her own set of quirks. I was glad the novel primarily focused on her and her relationship with Cordelia (AKA the ultimate bridezilla), rather than over-emphasizing romance. This book is perfectly balanced and it has all the makings of a perfect escape read that you just can’t help but enjoy. Thank you to St. Martin’s Griffin and NetGalley for providing me with an e-galley in exchange for an honest review!

It was kind of slow, but it was very fun and good romance. I didn't like the pacing but I liked the family dynamics.

A super fun chicklit! It started out a bit slow but when the love interest and his horrible sister entered it was so much fun from there on.
