Think back to the nostalgia of the movie Dirty Dancing...and Kellerman's and the Shelldrake...that time in life when families took long, lazy vacations in the Catskills. That's the setting for the Last Summer at the Golden Hotel.

But it's coming to and end. The hotel reservations are down and the two families that started the Golden, the Goldman and Weingold families, come together to decide to keep the Golden going or sell out to a big casino. Coming back brings up all kind of memories of summers growing up there, and a new generation realizes what it could be. Everyone comes back with secrets that are outed by summer's end. However, there is a happy ending and part of the Golden Hotel lives on!

It was a fun book to read, lots of interesting characters and history! Thank you NetGalley for an ARC for review.

Loved this book so much! The setting of the Catskills is so rich and such a lovely (and joyously Jewish) throwback! The multigenerational family tale was so warmly told. For fans of women's fiction and especially Dirty Dancing fans, this is an absolute MUST READ!

Thanks to NetGalley and Berkley for the advanced read!

This was a wonderful family story following multiple members of the two families that built a hotel in the Catskills. Lovely nostalgia, great characters and a satisfying ending. Highly recommend. I imagine if you ever stayed at a similar hotel, this will be even more meaningful.

If you loved Dirty Dancing and if you love anything Catskills then you must read this book. Those hotels of that era are endlessly fascinating to many of us and this well-researched book gives a hearty glimpse into those times and the people who owned and managed a fictional hotel based on some of the real ones. It reads authentic, but also takes us into modern times with three generations of two owner families who have dramas both in and outside of the hotel. As you read it, you'll wish you were there, had been there, or could be there. Fun characters and the PERFECT ending that will leave you with a big smile on your face. I cannot recommend this book enough, especially if you're Jewish and you grew up with stories of the Catskills.

One of my favorite books of 2021 so far. Fans of Mrs. Maisel and Dirty Dancing will revel in this book. Two families have owned The Golden Hotel for years. Now it is in disrepair and the families must decide what to do. Amazing fun family dysfunction, past secrets, present secrets and inter generational differences make this a masterpiece.

Run to buy this one! Thanks Berkeley for advanced copy! Loved it

I loved this book. The copy I read was missing a map which would’ve been handy in visualizing the hotel but this book is a gem.
It made me wish this hotel was real so I can visit it. I highly recommend this book.
