Three Sistersby Susan Payne

A reasonably well written book about three sisters and a life denied to them and their search for answers and in their quest they find the loves they aren’t really looking for.

A a bit racy in parts as get to sneek into the lives of each of the very different sisters. Easy and enjoyable read.

This story was good, but undeveloped in some ways. Since it was about 3 sisters, it was confusing bouncing from one sister to another, and then it turned to a story about Beatice and Devlin about half way through. The author tends to over describe and it gets silly. An example is '...ordered him to this one-cow town. A town that swelled to double it size during cattle drives.' So during a cattle drive, in which hundreds of cows are moved, the town only gets 2 cows? These type of references were common.
And the development of the characters. They all seemed one dimensional. I think that the author should have focused on one couple at a time and then the characters would have had more life. And the sex scenes should be cut. They were too matter of fact, similar to what men read. If you are going to put a sex scene in a romance novel, it needs to be hot and sizzling and makes a reader want to read it, not skim through until it is over.
After all this, the story dwelled on 3 sisters who worked in saloons or casinos as card dealers. And then tries to pass them.off as 'ladies'. At that time, ladies did not work in casinos or saloons on the open floor where they would interact with the men. They might cook or clean where there is no contact with the customers, but not work on the floor.
This was an okay story. I don't think I would recommend it. The mystery of the stolen money wasn't interesting and the sisters looking for a man lead to the main character thinking he was a ex-lover, when he was their missing brother, I think the author needs to rewrite some of the story, because it has promise and in the end I was disappointed and not happy with the story. 2 stars

Honestly? I was bored, all this nicknames and different characters kind of floated into another and i did not find any of them interesting.

I found this to ultimately be a dissatisfying read. I did like the somewhat ancillary stories of the twin sisters, but found the main love story hard to care about as both Devlin and Bea were unlikable.

I was disappointed in this cook. From the beginning chapter I thought I was getting a description of the characters and would enjoy the story line. Instead I was introduced to the male character's reaction to the female character by his physical response to her. As for the Second chapter, the same reaction to the two characters was a physical response. I don't need to know that the first reaction to each other is an erection to know that their is chemistry between the sexes. Not a fan of this type of writing.

Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. Three sisters who were alone in the world after losing their parents. The oldest girl Bea was an expert at dealing cards and could spot a cheater a mile away. The three sisters were not interested in love, until they met men who upheld the law and made them feel safe. I enjoyed the chemistry between the sisters and the lawmen they fell in love with.

First sentence: Devlin walked into the casino as usual and as usual it was unremarkable, the patrons behaving in a civilized manner, taking their losses quietly and their wins with much more enthusiasm. His gaze moved around the room, searching for anyone who may be cheating the unsuspecting townspeople, someone used to dealing from the bottom of the deck.

Premise/plot: Three Sisters is set primarily in Texas in 1874. Bea and her two sisters are searching for their brother, Mick. Mick is a gambler that left them years and years ago. Now that both of their parents have died, the need to find him and reunite is stronger than ever. But it won't be easy. Along the way, the sisters will be tempted away from their 'mission' as each falls in love...

The three sisters are Bea, Andy, and Trudy...the three men they fall in love with are Devlin, Walker, and Preston.

My thoughts: Three Sisters was an enjoyable read. I've read a handful of Payne's romance novels over the past week, and this by far is my favorite. I think it has been edited better and has fewer mistakes. (I only found two mistakes--both spelling, descent instead of decent; and irrupted instead of erupted.)

I thought this one had good, solid storytelling and characterization. In the previous novels, they've started out strong--really strong--and then weakened as smutty content was introduced. The storytelling remained strong throughout this time. It was so great to see.

It does have smut. But it's much more balanced overall. We get a sneak peek into all three sisters' bedrooms. But while graphic, it's not so extraordinarily excessive that it is nothing but smut.

I think my favorite part was seeing Devlin and Bea grow together AS a married couple expecting their first child.

This is my first book by author Susan Payne.

The description of the book Three Sisters was short but caught my eye.

Three sisters trying to find one man from their past, when two law enforcement officers and a detective are smitten with them from the get-go.

As the sisters keep running and the men keep chasing them, truths are uncovered and the man from the past is found.

This was a sweet story.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ebook copy in exchange for an honest review.
