This book is wonderful I was not familiar with Kawaii before requesting this book and I was fascinated by the beautiful and fun projects. This would make an excellent gift for anyone who enjoys Kawaii or any type of ceramic and clay art. Wonderful find and I highly recommend it.

This book provides details on how to make 25 cute Kawaii figures from clay and/or resin.

This book is divided into five main chapters plus an introduction:
- Nature
- Marine Life
- Animals
- Electronic & objects
- Foods

The Introduction provides details on the supplies or tools needed to get started, how to create your own moulds, how to add colour, plus more.

Each Kawaii figure instruction comes with a list of supplies required, alongside detailed photographs and steps on how to create the cute character. Each chapter has five designs to follow the instructions for.

These are great ideas to begin with and can be made by adults and children alike, although children will need assistance as there is some baking of the clay to do and setting of the resin. I'd certainly give this a go at home with my teenage daughter.

I received this book from Netgalley in return for a honest review.

I love this little book, the creations are so cute and I can't wait to make my own little sculptures. The instructions are so clear and you can follow them to the letter or take inspiration and use the basic forms to make your own little characters and objects with polymer clay, other clays or resins.

Really nice gift for anyone crafty or lovers of kawaii.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for letting me access an advance digital copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This book makes it easy to understand clay and resin. After walking you through the products needed, the author takes the reader step by step in creating cute animals, foods, and more. I liked the variety of ideas but got discouraged because you always had to make a new mold lol.
Stocked with clear photos, this book is a great beginniner book.

Kawaii Resin and Clay Workshop is a fantastic step by step guide in making polyma clay and resin charms the Kawaii way. The charms and mini models made within this book are super cute and look amazing with resin!
The instructions are easy to follow, straight forward and detailed.
The first few pages show you all you will need to make these charms and the set up isn't bank breaking which is fantastic too.

I have been following Alex Lee, the author of this book, (a.k.a. Polymomo Tea) on YouTube for several years and was thrilled to see a book by him. He makes the cutest miniature items and takes you step-by-step through the process. And that is exactly what he does in this book, with photos of each step and clear instructions. There are so many Kawaii projects in this book, that it’s difficult to pick out just one to start!

Kawaii Resin and Clay Workshop begins with an informative review of tools and supplies that will be needed to do these projects. Lee goes through how to make a mold, how to use resin (both 1 part and 2 part resin), adding pigment, doming, and making a smile face, an aspect that completes the transformation to Kawaii.

There are 25 projects in the book and they are grouped into five categories — Nature, Marine Life, Animals, Electronics/Objects, and Food tutorials. I was pleasantly surprised to see many of these items, like a TV, sushi, UFO, buttered toast, jellyfish, pig, penguin, and ice cream sandwiches. It’s really genius to combine polymer clay and resin, something you don’t see that often. I highly recommend this book to all crafters who want to try out resin and polymer clay. And if you have any free downtime while working through all these projects, because I know you will want to make them all, check out Polymomo Tea’s YouTube channel for even more fun!

A few years ago I'm interested in clays. I bought those Fimo in so many colors. I almost forgot I still have those until I saw this cover. Oh right, I need to practice my clay skill. I don't know how to do resin. So this book teaches me something new to me. The creatures are cute, I like the style. I will probably try my clay again and follow the instructions from this book. Thank you for inspiring me!

This book is as adorable as it is informative!

The first section contains well written and illustrated directions for working with clay and multiple types of resin. As someone who has not branched out into resin yet, this section gave me everything I needed to get started and move forward with confidence.

The section on making the little figurines is equally well outlined and provides instruction for clay, resin and combined finished pieces. The models included are adorable and easily personalized, while the techniques are applicable to just about anything you would want to mold or build.

This is a wonderful introductory guide for anyone looking to make clay and/or resin models.

This book is very informative and ADORABLE. My kids can’t wait to get their hands on some clay now. The step by step instructions with pictures was so helpful. I think even I could make something cute and I’m terrible at crafts!

This was so adorable and easy to follow. I loved the very detailed but concise instructions and the pictures which very clearly showed each stage.
The use of resin and clay together is a great medium and the characters were so sweet. The only thing that let it down a bit was maybe making a whole silicone mould for a one time use seemed a bit wasteful. If you were doing multiples of one design though I think it would work.

I always thought making cute things out of resin would be much more difficult! This book has awesome little projects starting at just the basics and continuing with some more difficult ones. Each project is very cute and the detailed photographs of the process make it very easy to follow.

A great instructional craft book for creating adorable Kawaii resin and clay characters/objects! I'd seen these adorable characters, but never considered the process to make them. This book gives a straightforward, but detailed overview from needed materials, methods, and a variety of adorable projects from simple to ornate. Instructions are especially clear as step-by-step color photographs are included for each project. A perfect guide for artists new to this craft!

Thank you Netgalley for letting me read this book in return for an honest review.

I have used resin before for my university work and I had some left so I thought I would read this book for ideas. That was a great idea as I now have fun ideas for small Christmas gifts (or just gifts in general). While this gives you specific things to do, it also gives you the methods and techniques that can be applied for personal projects. I have some two-part mould maker on its way so I can have a go at these cute resin objects.

Rating: 5⭐
Would I Read It Again? Yes as I can use this whenever I want to use resin
Would I Recommend it? Yes, this is good for people who are interested in Resin whether they are beginners or not

Kawaii Resin and Clay Workshop is a super cute and useful tutorial and style guide for polymer clay and resin figures, charms, and miniatures written by Alex Lee. Released 3rd Nov 2020 by Quarto on their Quarry imprint, it's 144 pages and available in paperback and ebook formats.

This is more than just a collection of cute modeling clay tutorials. The author spends a fair bit of content on showing how to make molds for casting resin along with the tools, supplies, and techniques for getting the best finishes. The tutorials (25 by my count) are arranged thematically: nature, marine life, animals, electronics and everyday objects, and food items. All of the items are really cute (that's the angle - they're all kawaii (cute)). There are so many which appealed to me, especially the little ice cream sandwiches and the animals and sea creatures. I intend to make a bunch of knitting markers, scissors fobs, and needle minders. They're addictive little projects.

Each of the tutorials includes tools and supplies, a pic of the finished project, and step by step tutorial photos with instructions. The detailed process photos are clear and easy to follow. Almost all of them take a very small amount of materials and would be great for a family weekend project (with an adult or responsible older kid to help with baking and curing). The author has included a very short index along with a list of supplies links suitable for international sourcing (I didn't check all of them, but most ship worldwide).

There's so much good information here but the icing on top is the humor scattered throughout the book ("make a bunch of these tentacles. You can never have too many"). The tutorials are upbeat and fun and the finished products are just so happy and cute. Definitely a good selection for the crafter's home library as well as for maker's groups and crafting studios when we're allowed to assemble together again.

Five stars.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

Kawaii Resin and Clay Workshop is an imaginative and creative book on trying out polymer clay and resin to make cute little kawaii animals and objects. The best thing is that the projects are so small that you will have quick results. They are also easily adaptable. The downside is that there is an investment required to purchase the specialist materials, and while they may last a long time once purchased, it is not something you want to jump into just to have a go. If you find you don't enjoy it or like the results then it maybe an expensive experiment. The book is full of fun though and something an avid crafter might want to treat themselves to during these difficult pandemic times. Overall the book itself is brilliant, bursting with pictures and very clear instructions. It is well structured, an easy read, and the projects are very appealing.
