Molly shares her thoughts about ways women can help lift up and support other women.

Molly has some great thoughts and gives several examples of ways we can help each other out. For example, find ways to volunteer in the community, give compliments, and promote businesses owned by women. However, I felt it was really about Girl Power and promoting her organization Girls Gone Strong. It was not really what I was expecting the book to be about. I would recommend this book to women that enjoy reading about other women’s experiences.

Thank you to NetGalley and Harper Horizon for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!

A must-read for every woman! So many times women feel the need to compete and compare. The world needs more cheering for others on the sidelines and encouragement in the mix. Molly Galbraith did a phenomenal job of making the reader feel like they can escape the norm of gossip circles and reinvent their friend group. A must-read for friend groups and book clubs!

initial thoughts: I really enjoyed Molly’s book and took away some small, but powerful examples on supporting women that are totally doable.

as someone who also struggles with body image and weight, I enjoyed Molly’s words about living your body no matter what it does - or doesn’t - look like.

I recommend this book especially for people with my kind of “attachment” style in relationships - anxious attachment! I’ve shared my thoughts and feelings about this book with my therapist, things that the book brought out that I wanted to work through... she said she loved the concept of this book and is going to read it! I have loved that this book has helped my mental health journey while being so encouraging to my physical health journey.

The title says it all, and the author shares her own story along with the stories of others on how to support and lift up other women instead of trying to compete, judge, or criticize, among many other things. She offers tips, exercises, and "mighty ways", along with next steps during her themed chapters. Although she is a fitness professional, this book is not about the fitness field, even though she does share her experiences. This book is a great reminder and good read in any profession when working with other women on how to be more supportive and less critical. Thank you to Netgalley, the author, and the publisher for allowing me to read and review.

I like self-help books, I like books of women giving advice to women. I don't like people writing books that don't ADD to the conversation. This book was super repetitive, and I don't think it added anything to the conversation of women empowerment. The 'exercises' were almost longer than the chapters at times, I felt like I both didn't know Molly and didn't want to based on the content of the book, and overall I just found myself wanting to skim. Yes, don't bully your friends, let women speak up in meetings, give them opportunities, be reflective. But why is Molly, a fitness person, the one to be writing this, in particular? Especially since it's not SUPER fitness-specific, which I did appreciate.

As a follower of Molly Galbraith on social media I was excited to be given a digital copy of her book to review. It’s an inspiring book with plenty of scope for reflection on how to empower ourselves as women and how to empower other women. The exercises were perfect for achieving success in the suggestions. The only drawback was that the font is very small to be read on an iPhone.

This book was received as an ARC from Harper Horizon in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.

I really needed to read this book. I totally agree with empowering all women and not comparing ourselves to them, tearing them down and most importantly tearing ourselves down. If women would encourage and support one another, this world would be a better place but it is the cruel intentions of the media that make women insecure and making them compare one another. Every woman deserves to be confident in themselves and I know the feeling walking into a room and comparing yourself and feeling like you do not belong there. Now when I see other women, I smile and say hi and if they say hi back great and if not, I keep on going. Molly does a remarkable job structuring this book to the fact that executes the message of how special and powerful you really are and how after reading this book, you'll feel so powerful that nobody's approval will really matter.

We will consider adding this title to our Self Help collection at our library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.

Strong Women Lift Each Other Up is part memoir, part inspiration. The author goes into her history and career. How that has shaped her relationships with other women and being a positive influence in others lives. It was especially related to me as she mentions being at her peak fitness level only to have to start from square one due to health reasons. Everyone who works out or practices healthier living has at one point had a few up and down periods. Now maybe not quite to her extent, but it's interesting because not everyone has the endurance to get back up again.

Strong women LIFT .. This is such a great book. So much insight and so many suggestions and paths that can help guide women and men towards a better way of being together. The worksheets and exercises she has at the end of each section are pivotal in the layout of the book. This book is not just for women empowering women but can be used in all faucets of life. Highly recommend.

“We all have a finite amount of time on the planet. It’s important that we live true to ourselves, look for small ways we can lift women up each day—and make the most of our own unique superpowers.”*

STRONG WOMEN LIFT EACH OTHER UP looks at ways women can view opportunities as scarce and let their own fears and insecurities affect how they treat other women, and in doing so, negatively impact the community as well as the individual. The author talks about the perils of comparison and how sometimes the act of comparison is due to one’s own perceived shortcomings. Not only does she share her own challenges and how she developed a lifestyle of female empowerment, the book is full of inspiring quotes, personal stories, and an action plan to help women make a practice of advocating for each other and in the process lift up the whole community.

The author stresses the importance of an inclusive community of women and acknowledges the “... the criticisms, standards, judgments, prejudices, and other unfairness heaped upon Black women, Indigenous women, Women of Color, older women, queer women, trans women, fat women, and women with disabilities or fewer socioeconomic resources.”*

The book stresses the importance of body acceptance and how compliments directed toward a woman’s appearance play into the idea that a woman’s body is the most important thing about her. I found many great nuggets about forgiveness and a tool kit for capitalizing on moments to lift women up such when a man gets credit for a woman’s idea simply by restating it aka “he-peating.” The author suggests starting small to increase the likelihood that these positive actions are incorporated into one’s lifestyle.

The information is easily assessable by a link to online resources, a checklist at the back of the book, and a next steps summary at the end of chapters. Overall, I really enjoyed the book, but I found the presentation of some of the sections a bit redundant, and feel the information could have been organized a bit better. Nevertheless, I feel the subject matter is dealt with in a comprehensive and actionable manner.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is not a workout book. If that is keeping you from it, no worries. But it is a workbook - there are different kinds of exercises here, designed to help women deal with some of their own stuff and then pay that forward it the way you help and support and encourage other women. Lift each other up, ladies. But start with yourself.

Molly Galbraith provides so many resources of how giving credit to fellow sisters, can have a great rippling effect on positivity and charge further down the line. I've been following Molly Galbraith and Girls Gone Strong for years, trying to reconcile the body I think I want and the body that truly works for me. Reading this book was amazing. I've been having trouble in my writing career; jealousy and disappointment over the success of others keep me from my own writing and obtaining success. This book provides great tips on how to support others and in turn support oneself. This will be a reference book to return to often.

Thank you to the publisher, the author, and NetGalley for providing me this book in exchange for an honest review.

In this book of female empowerment, author Molly Galbraith encourages and guides self-reflection as a prerequisite to the ultimate goal of lifting up others. With a focus on uplifting women, and a particular emphasis on women who are more likely to be denied advantages due to race, disability, sexual orientation, or other intersectional identities, Galbraith builds on her Girls Gone Strong movement and brand.

This is a book to read with intention. As Galbraith notes, it's easy to read about other women's experiences or the challenges faced by women in general, or Galbraith's calls to action and to think "I know this" or "I can't," or to be defensive. Her solution to these limiting reactions is to challenge the reader to employ curiosity. With data, research, and personal experiences, Galbraith walks through scarcity mindset ("there's not enough to go around, so I must hoard it all!"), overcoming comparison, living true to oneself, taking small daily actions to instill new habits, and finding and using your superpower for good. I know I'll be going back to the section on articulating my superpower and using that as a guide to focus my efforts on things that are fulfilling to me and uplifting to others.

This is a strong choice for women seeking action steps for self-empowerment and inspiration for empowering other women.

Thank you NetGalley and Harper Horizon for providing and advance copy for review purposes.
