Very little new or inspired in this -- both the recipes, most of which felt like a spin on similar diet books, and the adhesion to "healthy" and pseudo-science like good vs. bad fats. To be fair, my views have drastically changed since I requested this book and I recognize I'm no longer the target audience, so I'm giving it 2 stars as I think it could serve the right person and it's clearly marketed in that way.
This cookbook has become such a daily staple in our house. I will admit that I might be a little obsessed with our air fryer... but you can't go wrong with the crispy convenience that it has to offer. I bought a physical copy a few weeks ago and already have more than half the book dog earred with "go-to" recipes.
Aaron Day is an awesome keto blogger and I was thrilled when he created an air fryer cookbook. I LOVE my airfryer and if I can find more recipes that are healthy for it...I'm game. This cookbook doesn't disappoint! A lot of the recipes are simple with only 6 or so steps to follow. The book is well organized...it is broken up into the following categories: Breakfasts, Mains, Sides, Snacks, Desserts and the Index. I also appreciate that each recipe has nutritional information with calories & fat, net carbs, protein & dietary fiber. And I love the colored images!
This cookbook had some really great recipes. The recipes were easy to understand and not too complicated for the average cook. I enjoyed the illustrations and look forward to making these recipes for years to come.
Keto recipes for my Air Fryer, perfect!
This cookbook includes the basics of the Keto diet and its benefits and also the benefits of using an air fryer to make healthy Keto food. There are also tips to make using your air fryer easier and less messy. Each recipe includes nutritional information plus tips and suggestions for serving. Most of these recipes are fairly simple to follow with 6 or less steps and several include full color pictures.
There are lots of great recipes in this book, some of my favorites are the chicken fingers, chicken thighs and pumpkin cake
I do not follow Keri diet but I need to watch what I eat.
I loved the recipes and this book because it was for air fryers, it was healthy and it was beautifully illustrated.
Another great cookbook for anyone following a Keto or low carb lifestyle. This author has several Keto themed cookbooks, and they are all winners. This cookbook focuses on one of the hottest trends in kitchen gadgetry: the Air Fryer. In just a couple of brief pages at the start of the book, the author explains not only the basics of the Keto diet and its benefits, but also the benefits of using an air fryer to make food for the Keto dieter. In addition, he offers a variety of tips to make using your air fryer easier and less messy. Each recipe includes nutritional information. The author includes tips and suggestions for serving and/or storage with each recipe. many recipes include full color pictures. Most of these recipes are fairly simple to follow; many have 6 or less steps. There are lots of great recipes in this book--my favorites (so far) are the Loaded Zucchini and Breaded Mushrooms. SO GOOD. There are colored pictures for some of the recipes in the book-and they all make you want to try the item pictured. I haven't tried the desserts yet, but they all look good, and with a couple of exceptions, are not intimidating. I highly recommend this cookbook for anyone with an air fryer looking to add more great recipes to their air fryer repertoire. I also recommend it for Keto lovers looking for more recipes to add variety to their meal plans.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This cookbook is beautifully presented with very clean and easy-to-use recipes accompanied by a decent amount of photographs. But I have to admit, I had to question whether they really needed to be air fried or were more easily done in the oven (without requiring extra purchases for special/unique fryer machine accoutrements. I also noticed that a couple of recipes did not come out as pictured/didn't match the photographs despite my best attempts.
The book breaks down as follows: The Basics (4 pages of tips on air fryers and the keto diet); Breakfasts; Mains; Sides; Snacks; Desserts; index. Recipes include chorizo breakfast hash, 'breaded' fish, Asian style broccolini and pine nuts, nut-free sesame bread, coconut shrimp, blueberry muffins, etc. Recipes that typically use flour are instead substituted with almond flour, whey Protein powder, or coconut flour; recipes that use potatoes will often be changed to use cauliflower rice instead.
Each recipe is very nicely laid out: large tittle, small description, nutrition information sidebox (calories, fat, carbs, protein, fiber), prep and cook time, serving size, and total amount. The ingredients are listed on the left in bold and italics. Steps are in short, numbered paragraphs. Each recipe has a tip at the bottom for e.g., substitutions, preparation, etc.
When it came time to use the recipes, I found I had to go out and buy several items in order to be able to do the recipes - which meant trying to find storage for these extra items (many of which I already had for an oven). As well, recipes for e.g., beef pretty much started with long marinade times so I quickly realized I needed to prepare the night before.
Many recipes were obvious - air fried whole chicken, for example. Or chicken nuggets. Others such as chicken fillet pizzas or egg cups were a welcome surprise. There are also several variations on the same thing: e.g., chicken wings with blue cheese sauce and then garlic pamesan wings.
There are many photographs - about one every three recipes. It's ironic to me that the colorless tofu-looking garlic-butter steak recipe is on the cover considering it looks very unappetizing and bland. The steak itself was not bad at all
Admittedly, for my tastes, I didn't find the recipes that appealing. But I do have to stress here that it is likely due to my preferences and that I am rather new to the keto lifestyle. The book is professional laid out and the recipes have a decent variety. Reviewed from an advance reader copy provided by the publisher.
I'm always on the lookout for great keto cookbooks because I personally find them really useless when they provide regular recipes with substitutes of specific brands you have to find in the store. This book does not do that! There may be a few things, but it definitely has a lot of options for things you can make using everyday ingredients almost everyone would have. The recipes seem innovative and delicious, but also very simple as you just need to cook it in an air fryer. The was the book is laid out is great and each recipe has nutrition facts and a tip to help you with the recipe.
Healthy Keto Air Fryer Cookbook by Aaron Day-I’ve been looking for easy, healthy, Ket-friendly recipes for my air fryer and this cookbook does not disappoint. Pretty easy to follow recipes (and I am not a cook). I look forward to making many meals from this book.
This cookbook is unique in that it is written by an individual who has utilized these principles and recipes to lose weight. As explained in the beginning of this cookbook, this author used "keto" eating principles to lose over 140 pounds and keep it off for over 8 years. This cookbook provides delicious and easy to make recipes that will assist one in their keto journey. Each of the 100 recipes have less than 10 net grams of carbs and can be created in less than 30 minutes- a lifesaver for working moms everywhere. This cookbook provides recipes based upon the keto way of eating that are uncomplicated and inexpensive. Recipes are provided in each of the following topics: breakfast, soups and salads, snacks, breads and pizza, sides, main dishes, drinks, and desserts. This cookbook provides recipes to meet all needs within a household, including picky eaters. I highly recommend this cookbook. Not only are the recipes delicious and easy to make, they are also provided with designations in the cookbook such as: a "twofer" recipe meaning that you can make extra and use part of it for another meal. Another type of recipe included is "less mess" meaning that you can make the entire recipe in one bowl with minimal cleanup. This cookbook is a realistic, easy to use cookbook with delicious recipes.
I love this new Keto Book. I find Keto to be hard in thinking outside the box on new recipies. This books gives new recipies that not only look amazing but seem super easy to do.
I like how the book is broken down into different sections. (The Basics, Breakfasts, Mains, Sides, Snacks, & Desserts.)
I tried a few and were easy to follow and tasted amazing. I wish there were more photos but I am a visual person and like to see what it should look like.
Thank you Aaron Day, DK, and NetGalley for allowing me to view a free copy of this ARC ebook. My honest review is that everyone should add this to their cookbook collection.
WOW what a wonderful and helpful book! I am so excited to try out a bunch of these recipes. I just got an air fryer and these are fairly easy to follow.
Healthy Keto Air Fryer Cookbook is a new tutorial and recipe collection for keto cooks by Aaron Day. Due out 8th Dec 2020 from Penguin Random House on their DK Alpha imprint, it's 160 pages (print version) and will be available in paperback and ebook formats.
The introduction covers the basics of cooking with the air-fryer and essential accessories as well as an intro to the keto lifestyle/diet, including a basic primer on ketosis, macronutrients, tips, ingredients, tools, supplies, how-to. The following chapters include the recipes arranged roughly by category: breakfast, mains, sides, snacks, and desserts.
Ingredient measurements are supplied in American standard measurements with metric equivalents in parentheses (yay!). The nutritional information: fat, carbs, protein, fiber content, etc are listed for the recipes as well as serving sizes. Extra tips or recipe alternatives are listed in the recipes. The recipes themselves are fairly straightforward and are made for the most part with easily sourced ingredients (not all though, sweeteners for example, will likely need to be sourced from specialists). The sweeteners used often include erythritol, so people who have IBS or other inflammatory issues might need to proceed with caution.
The photography is not abundant; about 2/3rds of the recipes are not illustrated, but the photographs which are included are clear and well done. I wish there had been more photographs and serving suggestions, but I do understand that extra photography increases the price of book projects very quickly and I didn't find the lack crippling.
This is a large collection of recipes and even allowing for the fact that some of them are very similar to others in the same category, this will keep keto-cooks going for ages. Many of these can also easily be adapted to non-keto cooking.
Four stars.
Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes
God bless Aaron Day! All of the foods you miss the most on the new-fangled keto diet — rice pudding, muffins, granola, pizza, breaded onion rings, mac ‘n cheese, crunchy chips, tater tots, and bread, actual bread (or near enough) — are all here in his Healthy Keto Air Fryer Cookbook. I’m so glad that I found this cookbook, and you will, too. I couldn’t recommend it more highly, and I’ve read my share of keto cookbooks.
Really solid cookbook for keto fans that appears to suck a lot of the laborious prep work out of the diet. There's a good balance of recipes and explaining how to maximize both the keto diet and the air fryer itself. Caloric information is clear as well, no tiny text at the end of each recipe here!
I didnt know that you could make hard boiled eggs in airfryer.
In this diet conscious world, after having seen a couple of cookbooks with calorie and nutrition information on the side, a non-diet book pales. I see it as a big trend - diet cookbooks and nutrition info specified books. Earlier dietbooks would have meant restricted, bland food but with new technology, the food can now meet the gastronomic flair and sense and make it easy to stick to your chosen diet with ease and variety.
Chicken Nuggets with coconut flour. Now you dont need to frequent fast food for kids favorites and control the amount of salt in it.
Some of the recipes use unflavored whey protein powder.
Cauliflower Mac & Cheese sounds yummy.
Creme Brulee, if you didnt get a chance to buy the torch.
Get friendly with almond flour and coconut flour and have a wonderful healthy cooking advenure.
Another thing that you will learn as a keto is the "net carb" concepts which reduces your carb count by carbs from fiber. Nothing like it when your cookbook author is also your diet enthusiast.
There are so many amazing recipes in this book. I cannot wait to try the scotch eggs, zucchini fritters, and cheese bites.
The main part is very meat heavy so as someone who is *almost* a vegetarian, there isn't a whole lot I can eat in this section. However for the breakfast and sides parts, there is plenty to keep me happy. However, be warned, there are a ALOT of zucchini and cauliflower recipes in this book. So if you like them, you will like this.
Yes, there is even a desserts section! Many of them use erythritol, so if you are like me and have digestive issues, then it will be hard to make a few of these.
Simple, easy and delicious recipes. Most of the recipes have photos and they look very yummy. This book has recipes for breakfast, mains, sides and desserts and I can't wait to try some of them. I received a free digital copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review
I don’t know why some publishers miss this but ALL cookbooks should have pictures. This book delivers on the promise of beautifully displayed pictures for almost everything cooked in this book. I admit, I do not own an air fryer. So, why ask for this title? Because I was house sitting where one was available and like it was destiny this book came up as an ARC so I was happy to indulge in it. I tried the majority of recipes in this book (many of them had me going to the store every day for supplies to try the next one). Each one I tried was easy to make and they came out just as I was hoping they would. My only downside is now I have to go out and get myself an air fryer because I loved the recipes in this book.
