Thank you NetGalley, Entangled Publishing and Catheryn Fox for gifting me an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review!
First of all, do NOT let the cover fool you! When I first saw this book I was worried it was going to be cheesy or overly sexual. I was so happy to be wrong and now that I’ve finished the book, the cover art just makes me smile. I mean.. Hot farmer/beekeeper trying to save his farm, sweet and funny city girl inheriting an apple orchard in Nova Scotia, some seriously witty banter and a whole lotta chemistry... YES PLEASE!! I really needed a romance I could dive into and devour, and Cathryn Fox delivered that and more! You guys know I am not easily pleased and never afraid to admit I didn’t like a book, so you know when I say I LOVED this book, I mean it!
Alyson has no idea what she’s doing with her life. With a English degree under her belt, an endless list of jobs started and stopped, she’s been given an ultimatum from her parents. Run the apple orchard she just inherited for 30 days or lose her inheritance money. On her way to her new property she stops at a popular tourist site and then promptly finds herself in the freezing ocean water with quite possibly the hottest man she’s ever seen. Things only get better when she learns he lives next door with his family. They try to fight the pull they have on each other until it’s impossible to pretend there isn’t something more going on. What Alyson doesn’t know, is that Jay made a bet she would never last 30 days on the farm, and he bet his entire livelihood.
I started this one last night and found myself at 70% before I finally forced myself to go to sleep. Not only are the main characters fantastic, but the side characters add a lot to the story and the farm animals keep things comedic. Alyson is so frickin likeable. I’m pretty sure if I inherited a farm today I wouldn’t do any better than Alyson did in the beginning, and I’m from Iowa. Jay was such a swoon-worthy male lead. I’m pretty sure I have a new book crush!

Catherine Fox has the knack, she writes engaging stories. This time she takes a woman who can run rings around Designer duds and set her smack dab in an apple orchard...Well, having to take care of one for 30 days or she loses her trust fund.

She is working to do what is needed but she has a beekeeper next door who seems to want her to fail. Little does she know what his reasons are...

Too bad both seem to have chemistry.

When I saw the cover, I just had to read the blurb. And when I read about Nova Scotia, I wondered if I hadn't read some story before about that place... And indeed: Hooked on You was also about the inhabitants of this cosy little town.
And same as with the story of Kira and Nate (they also make an appearance, yay!), this story about Alysson and Jay is hilarious. Alysson has just learned that she has inherited an apple orchard from her late uncle. As a city girl she literally has no idea what she is getting into. And Jay, her hot neighbour, seems to think that she will not last for a few weeks. So Alysson gets into a lot of sticky situations, where Jay is constantly bailing her out of trouble. In all a cute story, with funny characters (Jay's brothers are a hoot) and sparks flying. What's not to love?! Five out of five stars from me and hopefully Cathryn will write another story on the inhabitants of Nova Scotia. Thank you Netgalley for providing the arc.

The Burbs and the Bees is a new romantic comedy by author Cathryn Fox.

Alyson is a city girl whose family thinks she's a failure and can't stick with anything. When she inherits an apple orchard in Nova Scotia she is told to see it through for 30 days or lose her trust fund. While she is in way over her head she is determined to make it work, and she ends up enjoying it much more than she expected. Helps that she has a hot farmer neighbor. Unfortunately Jay doesn't expect much from her so much so that he bets his farm on the fact that she'll be out of there long before the end of the month. When one thing after another keeps going wrong Jay can't stop himself from helping her and before long they can't ignore the sexual tension between them. In the end whether she stays or go, someone is going to lose or maybe they both will.

This was an enjoyable read. Both Alyson and Jay were likable and I adored Jay's family. The chemistry between Alyson and Jay was well written and their relationship flowed. I'm having a little trouble actually finding words to review this. I didn't love it but there was anything I hated about it. The story just felt a little unoriginal, a bit too long, and like it was trying too hard to be funny. Instead of having one or two constant funny aspects - like a cranky rooster and a foul-mouthed parrot, each animal had a unique personality which dimmed the shine of them all...if that makes any sense. The ending and story progress was also very predictable, hence my earlier comment about unoriginality.

All in all, if you're looking for an easy to read romantic comedy with quirky farm animals, family, sexual tension, and steamer than I think you'll really enjoy The Burbs and the Bess by Cathryn Fox

It's flirty and fun. There's a feisty rooster, a bisexual llama, and two lead characters with insane amounts of chemistry.
I only wish we would have gotten closure about why her Uncle left her the farm.
Why not leave it to the neighbors?
Would have been nice for him to have left a letter or some sort of explanation.

Laugh out loud funny! Socialite vs. Country!
Alyson is a quirky girl trying to figure out life. Her dad expects performance and perfection. He is giving her thirty days or she is saying bye bye to a load of money. She knows she can handle this situation because why else would her Uncle choose her to leave this place!

Jay is a reformed player and partier, but he is not going to ever let his family down! He is the man of the house and he takes that seriously now! He believes Alyson is just a player and he can’t wait to see her leave or can he?

The author does such a remarkable job of intertwining a few tweaks that you don’t expect and then when they pop up you are like What just happened! I would recommend this book to my friends.

I received an advanced copy from NetGalley and these are my willingly given thoughts and opinions.

Alyson and Jay were a lot of fun right from the start! This smart, sexy and witty rom com had me buzzing with excitement from the first rooster crow. The chemistry between Alyson and Jay palpitates off the pages and you can’t help but be drawn in by it. When they finally give in, wowza, the heat is off the charts. But these two also connect on an emotional level and let go some old hurts once they learn to trust again. All of this tied up with a small town in rural Nova Scotia, and the hijinks that go with small towns, and meddling family, and animals, made this maritimer a very happy reader <3

I had such high hopes for this book. This book is dual POV but both characters sound the same. The author does more tell than show. From the blurb I thought this would be a funny entertaining read and while there are elements of humor the book itself is quite clunky and there is too much over-explanation for the story to flow. I ended up skimming the book just see how it ends and it was a disappointment.

This is not a book I can recommend. Excellent premise but poor execution.I received an arc of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Such a fun book to read! From the first page to the last I found myself cheering Alyson on to make her way at the farm. She is tough (though she needs to learn that) and the perfect match for Jay. There are laughter and heartache which then leads to joy and a happy ever after that Alyson and Jay so deserve. Another great "can't put it down" book by Cathryn!

A great read.
Alyson and Jay don't get off to the best of starts, and that is before he finds out she is his new neighbour. He ends up betting against her staying on the farm for more than 30 days, but heling her out anyway. What will happen to their relationship when she realises that he has treated her like this?

4.25⭐
This was such a fun, quirky, entertaining, easy, and fresh read. That was not only packed full of wonderfully charming characters, but animals that had so much personality that I couldn't help but smile every time one was mentioned from Barack O'llama, to Capone and not forgetting Cluck Norris. They all helped to make this story a joy to read. As did the romance between Jay and Alyson which was equal parts sweet and steamy. And honestly, I was completely captivated throughout, and I genuinely hope Ms Fox writes more about these delightful Nova Scotian farmers and their friends in the future.

Would happily recommend.

Entertaining, laugh out loud moments, and an adorable meet cute. The Burbs and the Bees takes us on an adventure. We follow as Alyson navigates owning a farm and orchard. Being from NY, Jay didn’t think Alyson would stick around too long. But Alyson has other plans. We watch as these two fight their attraction until they can’t fight it any longer. And we get a awesome story.

"My father was right. There is a dumbass born every minute. "

I just love this book! I really do. This book got me hooked by the first sentence. This for me is just the wonderful romance novel. It is beautifully witten.
Alyson, is such a delight. I love her. She is smart, funny, beautiful and such a good person. I hate that she thinks that she is flaky and a quitter. But, we don't see it. We see a good person who tries new things and does not quit. And I love that, what she doesn't know she asks Google.
And Jay... Wow... He's a steamy dish. He's a hard worker, beekeeper, he loves his family and would do everything for them.
And Alyson ans Jay together... Hot...hot...hot...

This for me was almost 5 stars, 4.5 stars. The ending was a little bit hasy.

"But the truth is I can't seem to get enough of her. Can't get her out my thoughts for one single second. I'm consumed by her."

Hot Farmer who also keeps bees and takes care of his family? SIGN. ME. UP.

I loved this book! Alyson is a city girl who can't seem to stick to anything, but she's ready to try when she inherits her Great Uncles farm in Nova Scotia. She arrives in her short skirt and Louboutins ready to prove herself. Jay is determined to keep his father's legacy alive by working and improving on the farm he raised his family on. When he falls into the freezing ocean with a woman dressed for Madison Avenue he has no idea she is the owner of the farm next to his.

Alyson is funny and determined and a hard worker! I loved how clueless she was while still trying her best in a hard situation that she is not prepared for. And Jay is so swoony! He is kind and sweet and passionate about his work. Watching Jay and Alyson interact while she fumbles with her new life is hilarious!

The chemistry between the leads is immediate and their relationship is swoon-worthy.

Besides romance this is also a story about family, obligations, one's legacy, trusting your heart after heartbreak and what you are willing to sacrifice for love.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The Burbs & the Bees was such a fun, flirty and enjoyable read! This book was my first experience reading this author's work and it won't be the last because I had so much fun getting to know Alyson and Jay throughout their adventure in Farmington, Nova Scotia. Her excellent description and illustration of the area put me right in the middle of Alyson's farm and the hilarious, humorous moments with the various animals had me laughing out loud through the entire book. I loved everything about this story and Ms. Fox's writing made me feel like I was part of this wonderful, loving and thoughtful family. It's always nice to watch someone find their own worth so they can stand on their own two feet, but it's just as nice to watch them find that special someone who will catch them if they happen to fall. I highly recommend this very enjoyable read! I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC for NetGalley.

This was a really cute book. The characters were loveable, hilarious, and determined. I felt bad for Allison, no matter what she did she ended up embarrassing herself in front of Jay. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.

Alyson has inherited an apple orchard, and it’s the perfect opportunity for her to prove to her parents and friends that she can do something with her life. But she knows nothing about managing an apple orchard, and surviving a month would have been impossible had it not been for her neighbors, especially Jay.
Jay has a reason for wanting to see Alyson gone, but try as he might he cannot stop himself from helping her. And as her gets to know her, he sees her as more than just a city girl, it gets harder to ignore the attraction he feels towards her.
The burb and bees is a sweet and funny read. From the start the book had me laughing out loud. Alyson and Jay are too cute together, and I also liked Jay’s brothers. This is a funny, cute and steamy read and I hope the brothers also get their books.

------------------------

The Burbs and the Bees by Cathryn Fox follows Alyson Reid who is heading north from New York to a farm and apple orchard in Nova Scotia that she unexpectedly inherited from an uncle she never knew existed. Desperate to prove to her parents that she can see something through to the end, Alyson plans to stay for thirty days and not any longer. That is until she comes to realize how satisfying a hard day of work on a farm can be and how good it feels to fall into bed after. Plus there’s the ridiculously attractive and witty honey farmer named Jay that lives next door. It’s a thoroughly new way of life but maybe it’s just what she needs.

This sweet-as-honey book is about finding yourself and where you fit in the world. I really enjoyed the dual points of view of Alyson and Jay, giving us a view into both of their minds as their affection for one another grew. The storyline was a lot of fun and the side characters brought some good laughs, especially Cluck Norris.

I’m not giving this a full five stars because I felt the end was a little rushed and the cover doesn’t exactly match the story within. Other than that, this was a great, light read. It was funny and steamy in all the right places.

I received an advanced reader’s copy of this book from Netgalley and the author in exchange for an honest review.

I don't typically enjoy reading purely romantic fiction as I usually find the writing a bit cloying, but I was pleasantly surprised by this novel. The story line was fun, within in the realm of reality, and had enough plot points to keep me interested in what would happen next.

Alyson Reid suddenly finds herself as the unexpected beneficiary of a apple orchard in Nova Scotia. Desperate to prove to her family that she can in fact commit to something, she heads north from New York into an entirely new way of life. That new life comes with an attractive neighbor, Jay. Typically, the two spend the novel dancing around their attraction for each other until there is a a misunderstanding they have to overcome.

The Burbs and the Bees is a typical romance novel pretty equivalent to Hallmark movie with a few naughty bits thrown in, and sometimes that just the kind of escapism you need.
