Decent second novel by Tim Wendell on baseball in Cuba and Fidel Castro plays a big role in both books. The storyline was hard to follow for me, but I liked the character development, especially for Castro. Not the best baseball novel I have read.but enough redeem!ing qualities to keep my interest.

I was not aware that this novel was a sequel when I started reading it. It was way more enjoyable after I read the first book. I loved how this book was fiction but was still very factual. It was a fascinating read.

Escape from Castor's Cuba was an excellent and engaging read. As a baseball fan, it was a believable story. As someone with many friends in Florida of Cuban heritage, it was remarkably like many of the tales told by the old-timers and parents of my friends. As someone who lives in Florida there were a couple of mistakes that were easily chalked up to poetic license. Overall, the work was compelling and fast paced. It was an easy read and most importantly an enjoyable one. Baseball fans will love this work. Older fans will love it even more because it harkens back to the days when the game was more of a social event than a home run derby!
