This installment killed any mild interest I had in seeking a happy ending for Gideon and Eva. Both of their worst traits are on full display here, and the entire book is one long parade of them lashing out at each other over a misunderstanding or a held-back secret.

Sexy, dark, edgy and all consuming...

I'm really glad that I decided to give Sylvia Day's Crossfire series another chance as I had some really mixed, and not all that positive, feelings about the first release in the series, Bared to You. I was pleased to see that the author made the story her own in Reflected in You because she just didn't seem to own it in the first book, it too closely mirrored the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy.

I could not put this book down but I am still finding myself conflicted with this series and its couple. It's difficult to truly believe in Eva and Gideon's love for each other. Infatuation, lust, obsession - yes. Those are in abundance; especially the hot, kinky lust. I found no evidence of their professed love though. I would like to see more of a foundation for this in their growing relationship. However, I was happy to see them work through some of their past issues and trauma, and have Gideon FINALLY open up a bit at the end, even if Eva and Gideon took the long (want to reach into the book and shake them) way to get there. It was an exhausting, heart-breaking journey but I felt as if a huge weight was lifted from my shoulders when Gideon finally let Eva in.

Reflected in You is not a light book, Crossfire isn't a light series. Period. It is deep, dark and oft times, depressing. You'll feel as if you are drowning in these characters regardless of your feelings towards them. It's like a train wreck that you just can't look away from and as I see it right now, that is an apt description for Eva and Gideon's entire relationship as well. I didn't love this book, I can't say that I even really liked it, but I will admit that I am hooked. I want to know how this train wreck is going to end and I want some substance to back up these two main characters love for another.

All in all, I enjoyed Reflected in You, it was fast-paced and quick read that kept me immersed in the story and I will be picking up the next book in the Crossfire series, Entwined with You.
