This was definitely a light and easy read but one I definitely would love to read at the beach - specifically Hawaii now. As my first read from Jessica Jayne, I thoroughly enjoyed it and would definitely love to read more of her books. Mia’s character showed so much growth and really made me reflect on my relationships.

This was a sweet, fluffy, and definitely insta-love romance story.
Mia has just broken up her engagement with her best friend after finding he cheated on her. Kekoa knows about heartache and sacrifice and although he is a total hotty he is not interested in opening his heart again.
A well-written story with self-discovery and growth.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book received from the publisher via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

HAVEN is a standalone contemporary romance by Jessica Jayne. Mia Goran gets away from the drama of a cheating fiancé and explores beautiful Hawaii while staying at the Hale Coffee Inn. The inn is run by the extremely close Hale family made up of brothers Kekoa and Maleko and their widowed mom. The trip is a breath of fresh air as Mia re-evaluates her recent relationship, decides what she wants most in life, and is surprised by love.

These characters are multidimensional and easy to care about. HAVEN is told from alternating perspectives, thus giving readers a window into their innermost thoughts. There is an immediate physical attraction between Mia and Kekoa but they each have their own reasons for being somewhat cautious. For Mia, she was burned in the past by Vuk, but the situation left her doubting her deeper feelings. The betrayal worked out as a blessing in disguise because after examining her feelings, she doesn’t think she was ever really “in love” with her fiancé, even though they knew each other a long time and cared for him. For Kekoa, his ex Lana cheated on him, but he was in love with her. With each other they find the joy, heat, and acceptance that was lacking in their previous relationships. For me, a big part of why this story works so well is because of the two main characters. I like that Mia took some time to figure herself out. I’ve read a lot of books who the plot centered around a jilted fiancé or a cheated on fiancé and their escape to refresh. In HAVEN, Mia acts with vulnerability yet maturity. I can’t stand a vapid heroine, and that was not the case with this book. I also love how Kekoa is a strong and physically attractive man, but he is also empathetic and honest about his feelings with the woman he cares for. Yay!

HAVEN has emotional depth, fantastic characters to root for, and steamy love scenes. I’m glad that the re-appearance of Vuk didn’t spoil things at the end. Mia might have been uncertain about some things in her life, but I liked that she didn’t allow any man to push her around – whether well-intentioned or not. The family members supporting characters in this story were great and helped define the main characters. I look forward to reading about Kekoa’s brother in Jessica Jayne’s next book.

Reading Haven was my introduction to Jessica Jayne and her storytelling method. She told me a beautiful story of a young woman, Mia, that was not completely honest with herself or those that she loved so much. She had to have a fluke get her out of a marriage she truly did not want. She did things that would make others happy at a sacrifice to herself and her own desires.

Her road to making her life her own again all began when she made the concise decision to still go on her honeymoon without her ex-groom-to-be. The next step to her own desires was allowing more than smiles and glances to take place between her and Kekoa. Her next decision was allowing herself to fall in love with not only the island, the people, but the man that showed her so much. She did more than just open up and live. She had the chance to learn more about herself.

Kekoa and his family were bonus characters to meet along the way. This story for me was more about Mia. I loved this self-discovery and growth.

This was a fun and sexy romance that I really needed. I love the broody type characters turned lovers. The scenery was well done and the character development was great. I found myself really caring what was going to happen. I’d definitely read more by this author. I find in romance, I go in knowing what I want and this delivered.

Mia has just broken off her engagement from her lifetime best friend and travels to Hawaii to take some time for herself. She needs to regroup, refocus, and spend some time figuring out what, exactly she wants for herself and her life.

Kekoa and his brother live on the Kona Coffee and Inn property which they help their mother run. After a not-so-welcoming first encounter, Kekoa and Mia hit it off. He vows to show her everything there is to see on the island. Slowly, he begins opening Mia up to a world just outside her comfort zone and it isn't long until the two express their undeniable feelings for one another.

But when Mia's fiancé Vuk arrives on the island full of remorse, he threatens to bring a crashing halt to the weeklong romance that has developed. Past relationships and long distance threaten to break the couple apart and readers are left with the happy reminder that love endures despite our own poor judgement along the way.

This is a perfect beach read book. You don’t have to think, just lay back and read. The scenery described is beautiful. The plot is cliche and completely unrealistic. But if I wanted to read about reality I would read non-fiction. Too much sex for my taste but I’m not as young and horny as I used to be. So it may be perfect for you.

This book felt forced to me. I had a hard time with the characters. I love Hawaii and the culture, but I did not love this book. The writing style wasn't what I happen to enjoy.

The blurb got me, I spent quite a bit of time growing up on the Big Island and was in the mood for a trip down memory lane. When I was there Kona only had 1 stop sign. Haven is a quick read, with great chemistry, and a Gilmore Girls reference!
I enjoyed the story of Mia and Kekoe, both have ex-fiancé’s hers a little more recent. He has just received unsettling news about his ex, and Mia has traveled to Hawaii from Ohio to figure out her next move after just calling off her own wedding. When the two first meet is a great interaction. Mia’s revelations and growth throughout the story kept me reading. Will the short time together be enough, to create forever? Will the distance be too much, is he capable of loving someone? A lite read with amazing imagery, I recommend this book.
