I read this preview and then ended up getting it! I look forward to reading it and discovering more about it. I’m only giving it 3 stars for now because the beginning was enough to intrigue me, but I’m going to need some stellar story to follow.

Reena has had many failed relationships and is used to her Indian family setting her up with eligible men they hope she will settle down with and marry. This time that man is Nadim, one of her father's employees and her new neighbor with a British accent and a love for her baking.

On top of the "arranged marriage" set up by her parents, Reena wants to join a cooking competition in hopes of living out her dream. In order to do this, she needs to pretend to be married which is the perfect setup for a great romance between Nadim and herself. I was already excited about the arranged marriage element of this book but adding the fake dating element makes me want to add Accidentally Engaged to my TBR even more.

I love that this is a multicultural read where we get an insight into Indian culture from family relations to cuisine to expectations. Overall this sneak peek left me wanting more. I need to know what happens between Nadim and Reena because the start of their relationship is sarcastic and fun. I can't wait to finish this book.

I only read the first 4 chapters and unfortunately, while this book seems witty and well-written, the story wasn't for me.

I enjoyed reading this book preview. Reena's parents want to get her married to a nice Muslim boy. Their latest tactic is to have a very handsome Muslim man - who works for her father - move in next door to her.

Reena's family was not particularly supportive or approving of her. Her mother and father seemed to be managing and overbearing, fixated on getting her married, and her sister wasn't much better. I found myself wishing that Reena could become financially independent enough to move to a strange city without a forwarding address. She did have some very likable friends. I'd like to see her happy ending.

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this book sample. It was my pleasure to read it and write this review.

I liked the blurb and the cover drew me in as well. Good start with the first 4 chapters. Interested to read more and see where the story goes.

I adored this! Even from the sample you can tell that the heroine Reena is going to be an absolute delight, already full of sarcasm and wit. The conflict is set up nicely, from Reena's over-bearing parents who want her to get married, to the obstacles in the way of Reena's ambitions. Heron quickly engages with the reader through a mix of comedy and drama, with the promise of romance already showing through in the first couple of chapters.

I definitely enjoyed this sneak peek at Accidentally Engaged and cannot wait to read more!

I loved this preview! It's definitely got me interested in the rest of the story when the book releases (only a couple of days away now!) The culture is absolutely fascinating and I love all the diversity included, the heroine seems like she's going to be a fun one to read about and I'm very intrigued in her hero. Very excited to read more about the cooking show, I'm a huge BBO fan so this sounds right up my street! And also fake dating/marriage is one of my all time favourite tropes so all in all this promises to be very a enjoyable read!

I really enjoyed this short trip diving into another culture - even if I had to google quite a few words. But, it was a learning curve, and I enjoy diversifying myself in my reading.
I was invested in the story, Reena seems like a great heroine, Nadim made me curious and a bit infatuated from the start.
The side characters are lively, add some movement and conflict to the storyline, and all of them are kinda eccentric, funny or exasperating.
I would've loved to read more of the book, the plot kinda had me hooked up, as I'm a sucker for marriage of convenience books.

My only problem was with the formatting, as a non-native speaker, the merged words were quite hard to figure out.

I wish I had more than the first few chapters as it's a teaser to start and not finish. As far as I can tell, the story is great.. but I won't know how to ends.

Accidentally Engaged is hilarious! From the witty sarcasm and the exhaustive over-bearing nature of her parents, Reena is a protagonist that I couldn't help be adore instantly. Her stream of musings and thoughts are so fun and relatable. From her parents constantly trying to set her up and get married because ''she's well past her age,' to her obsession with becoming the most perfect baker, Reena surprises herself when she is attracted to her funny, charming and insanely hot new neighbor even when she tells herself not to. Oh and he just happens to be the guy her parents set her up with...

Even though it was only the first few chapters, Heron manages to grab the reader's attention quickly through Reena's hilariously tangled life. Definitely the perfect mix of comedy and hints of romance while learning to live life your own way. Although not my typical genre, I thoroughly enjoyed the chapters. Can't wait for more!

Even though the galley for this book is only 4 chapters, I enjoyed it! There were some formatting issues with the ARC but overall I'm excited to read more about Nadim and Reena. There already seems to be some chemistry forming, and a marriage of convenience is my favorite trope. I definitely want to finish this book.

I enjoyed this preview. Reena is a home chef and loves baking bread. She hates her job in finance and longs to explore her home baking more and possibly attend a culinary class on bread baking. She's frustrated by her Indian family's constant attempts to set up an arranged marriage as well as their devotion to her older brother. Her new neighbor, Nadim is another potential husband.

While I enjoyed this preview, it did not hook me quite yet. I am intrigued by the talk of Reena going on a reality television cooking show. She needs to be engaged or married to compete and it has a dream prize. I'm thinking that she will ask Nadim to fake being engaged. I do love a good fake relationship!

The thing I really like about this book is having a Muslim woman be the lead. I don't think I've ever seen a romance novel with that. I also love the family dynamics that are presented in the first four chapters - there is a lot of nuance and cultural norms to be explored there.

I also like that this book is set in Toronto, Canada and all of Reena's family has immigrated there at some point. There is a lot of richness to be explored in this novel.

I'd likely read this book as I think it has a lot of interesting aspects.

This is SO GOOD! This is such a great beginning to a book - the attraction and relationship are set up nicely, there are multiple plot points and history set up with the cooking show and the family dynamics, the friends are lovely, and Reena herself is an intriguing character who seems like she's very capable and has a lot in store for her. I enjoy this modern take on Muslim romance, and on Muslim characters - coming from Trinidad and Tobago where there's a wide variation in how my Muslim friends have met their spouses and how much they stick to religious tenets, I think this would resonate a lot with them. It's also interesting to have the male lead from Tasmania - the Indian and Muslim diaspora extends to so many more countries than are commonly known (like Trinidad and Tobago...) and I enjoyed seeing that represented here. The moment I finished this preview I looked up this book and pre-ordered it, so it did its job! I'm glad that it'll be coming out soon - I can't wait to find out what happens.

This preview was so good! It definitely got me excited for the release of the whole book. I love the concept of the baking show and am very excited to read more of it. Reena seems like a fun main character to be following for this story. I have also enjoyed the peak into her family culture that we have gotten so far as it's quite different from mine and I appreciate being able to read about other people's cultures included in books like this

I absolutely loved this preview and cannot wait to read the full book!!!

I love Reena. There aren't enough women characters who are blunt and to the point. And Nadim is fire!!! I'm so excited!
