Thank you NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.
I was immediately drawn in by the cover, title nd synopsis. I was so excited when I was awarded an ARC. As I was downloading I realized that this was the 3rd book in a series. I quickly downloaded the 1st and 2nd books. I loved them and read them in record time. I started this book and loved it as well. I was happy to be back with the characters I had come to know. I loved the witty, sarcastic and sometimes snarky banter. It reminded me of the way my friends and I interact.
If you're looking for a nice, quick read - grab this book - but make sure you read 1 an 2 first!

Thank you NetGalley for an ARC copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review! This book does not disappoint! Gelman continues to make us laugh as we enjoy the ride with Jen Dixon and her hilarious adventures chairing the PTO fundraiser. There is enough of a plot to keep you engaged and the witty writing will keep you laughing out loud. Put on your favorite comfy yoga pants and get reading...You won't want to put this book down once you start!
Laurie Gelman brings Jen Dixon back in her last year as a class mom. Jen's life is increasingly chaotic and the book takes you on her journey to balance it all. Yoga Pant Nation brings back all of the snark, wit, and characters that we have come to adore in her previous two books and lets us catch up with them now. Reading yoga pant nation is like catching up with a friend you haven't seen in a while. If you enjoyed Class Mom and You've Been Volunteered, you are sure to enjoy the latest installment.
Thank you to the publisher, author, and Netgalley for the advance copy of this book.
Laurie Gelman is as hilarious and real as ever in this great installment of Jen Dixon’s Class Mom saga. I was so excited for this book and it did not disappoint! I hope the series continues with more books.
Very cute story and light hearted which is so needed these days. Anyone who has ever been a class mom/parent knows how difficult it is to get others to pitch in and do anything. Email was not around when I was in those years, but picture being the fundraiser for the school which has to be waaaay worse than a class parent. Then add emails with snarkiness and you just have to laugh.
Throw in grown children, one with an attitude and a child who needs to be cared for each day while that child works, parents who seem like they are losing it when they talk about the people in the basement stealing all their stuff, a job at spin class leader who is just starting out and you have to wonder how she does it.
Amusing and came along at the perfect time. Thank you NetGalley for an advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review. High 3+ stars, not quite a 4 star.
I was so excited when NetGalley first posted this book, and waited to be chosen to read it. I read the first 2 books in this series and loved them. I thoroughly enjoyed this one as well. The main character Jen is at it again and funny as always. I highly recommend this fun, light-hearted book.
Yoga Pant Nation is the third in a series, and I've read all three. This installment isn't much of a story, but it's a light read which makes it a fun book to read. My issue with this book, as well as the ones before it, is that there is always an aside written that I find offensive. First book it was a racial slur against an Asian character. This time it was a joke about people in the basement to be blamed for a variety of offenses. Including Jon Benet Ramsey's death. Well, since the poor child was actually murdered in her basement, and the author's target audience is parents, I personally don't chuckle at that. In her Acknowledgements Gelman mentions an editor that catches things you can't say anymore, which really makes me question the integrity and character of the author. If you're writing a bunch of offensive material, without the decency to even notice, I don't think I want to read your books.
Thank you to Net Galley for the ARC for an honest review.
Another great novel by Laurie Gelman. I love this series that showcases class mom emails that every single mother can relate to. Jen is still busy with her adult daughters, middle school son, a granddaughter, aging parents, and her husband. Jen is hilarious as she navigates all these roles and gives the reader humor as she describes motherhood in this day and age. Highly recommend!
Thank you, NetGalley, for an advanced copy of this novel.
The funny, snarky main character we came to know and love in books one and two is back in book three! Here, Jen is finishing up her elementary school reign as class mom, as her son Max is in fifth grade and on his way to middle school. This book was a little more serious than the first two, and I didn't have any laugh out loud moments, but it was still overall a fun read.
If this book had a name it would be “Peggy”. At first, I thought it would be Becky, but our main character is 53 years old and has a grandchild, so she’s Peggy. This book would wear leggings (aka yoga pants), have an “I need to speak to the manager hair cut” and feel like a naughty girl for watching Outlander and having fantasies about Jamie. This book is also def involved in an MLM scheme, most likely Lula Roe clothing.
Don’t get me wrong, the book goes down fast as do most things without substance like popcorn or bubblegum. I just don’t think I am the right audience for this book as I spent an inordinate amount of time side-eyeing our main character.
When told that she has to address the adults of the 5th-grade classroom as “caregivers” and not “parents” as some may not necessarily be parents, she rolls her eyes and grumbles about how far is this whole PC thing going to go. Will she just be silenced completely one day? Perhaps, but not in this book.
A few pages later she tells the reader about the Jewish community center and how they have a pool and childcare. This leads her to think “Lucky Jewish People!” Lucky Jewish people. Ok. Soon, she realizes that *gasp* anyone can go to this community center! Not just lucky Jewish people! Even put-upon white women such as herself are welcome!
Now, if you are a person who finds things like "Rose all day!" or "Did you say exercise? I thought you said EXTRA FRIES!" Then this is the book for you!
Kudos and 4 stars to the author because either she knows her audience so well that she is just giving them pure LIVE LAUGH LOVE service. Or, perhaps she is making a parody of these middle-aged Facebook aunties and if that's the case then she is a genius!
Thank you to Net Galley and the publishers for providing with an E-ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
Jennifer is the class Mom for her son's 5th grade class and in charge of a big fund raising effort but is also helping take care of her own parents and her two year old granddaughter. She has a lot of balls to juggle to keep everyone moving forward in a positive way. Her parents have begun to exhibit health problems and her granddaughter becomes the prize in a custody dispute with the baby's daddy and his Mother. There are many opportunities for disaster but though things don't all turn out as expected there are many funny moments in each problem.
*****Coming July 13, 2021***** Thanks to Henry Holt & Company and Netgalley, I was chosen as an early reviewer
In her latest book, Laurie Gelman does it again and is spot on in finding the humor in life as a mom, grandmother, and taking care of aging parents. If you have ever been a class mom or experienced one, then this book will have you laughing out loud. This book is a fun light read with the right amount of humor and drama mixed in. This would make an excellent book club pick! #lauriegelmanauthor #henryholtandcompany
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a PRC in exchange for my review. Yoga Pant Nation is the third installation in a series about the life of a mom, grandma, and fitness instructor who is the room mom at her son's school. I didn't read the first 2 books, but it didn't seem to make a difference. The story takes off quickly and takes the reader along for a crazy ride. She probably has undiagnosed ADHD, but somehow manages to accomplish a lot. It's a really fun read!
This was a perfect snow day read—light, fun, and humorous! I enjoyed getting to know Jen Dixon and her interesting cast of family and friends. I was able to relate quite a bit to her experiences and interests, and laughed out loud a few times during her interactions with others. I did not know that this is book 3 in a series prior to reading it; I am interested to go back and read the two previous books.
Thank you very much to NetGalley and Henry Holt and Co. for the advanced reader’s copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Laurie Gelman is back with Yoga Pant Nation, the third in the Class Mom series, a laugh out loud, sure fire hit!
This is Jen Dixon’s last year as an elementary school class mom and she’s determined to go out a success. She’s been tasked with raising $10,000 to buy tablets for the school and she’s a chaperone for the fifth grade overnight to Topeka. Oh, and she babysits her adorable almost two year old granddaughter three days a week, checks in with her aging, and curiously confused, parents, and…she’s training to be a spin instructor. So if her chosen outfit for the day features yoga pants, spin class yoga pants, dressy yoga pants…you get the picture.
Jen takes on all tasks with her usual snarky, ironic wit. Of course, all problems are (mostly) resolved and there’s a satisfying conclusion. Max Dixon will being middle school next year. Do they have class moms in middle school? Oh, I hope so! Are you listening, Laurie Gelman?
Thank you to NetGalley, Henry Holt & Company and Laurie Gelman for this ARC.
When I heard Laurie Gelman was back with another book, I was so excited to read it. I love Laurie’s writing; she has the ability to tell realistic fiction in a humorous and engaging way that keeps the reader wanting to know what will happen next. Though this book is part of a series, it can be read as a stand-alone, I definitely recommend you pick up the two previous books for more laughs!
I stalked netgalley until I was finally approved for this book. I found this author several years ago and look forward to each of her books.
Jenni Dixon is at it again-class mom for her sons 5th grade class. Almost every chapter starts with a snarky letter to the parents about what's happening in the classroom. This year she has the added responsibility of a fundraiser.
These books always keep me with a smile on my face. There is something fun about a little bit of sarcasm. .
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc. The opinions are my own.
Class Mom Jen Dixon is back in Yoga Pant Nation and this time she has been volunteered to head up the tablet fundraiser. This may be her last year as class mom but she is busier than ever. Between finding opportunities to lead spin classes, taking care of Maude and figuring out what is going on with her parents, Kay and Ray, spearheading the fundraiser takes some maneuvering. With her typical Jen humor she is able to keep her class mom and fundraiser chair duties on track while helping Vivs deal with baby daddy Raj and his overwhelming mother, Varsha.
Jen also has to find time for intimate moments (Thursday mornings) with Ron while keeping up with Peetsa's misadventures in online dating. Ron's crazy ex Cindy seems to be Jen's biggest spin class fan. Her parents' behavior and their insistence that the people who live in their basement are causing problems has Jen thinking it is time to consider a move to assisted living while beating herself up for not paying more attention to what is going on. She and Ron also have to deal with Max and the bullying behavior they are shocked to find out he is displaying.
I enjoyed catching up with Jen and the other mothers and look hopefully forward to another book in the future.
Thank you to NetGalley and Henry Holt and Co. for the opportunity to read this ARC.
Jen Dixon, Class Mom is back for her last year at the elementary school. Max is in 5th grade, her daughters are out of the house and she's GG to her 2 year old granddaughter who she watches multiple times a week. Add in her quest to become a spin instructor, her parents are starting to not be able to care for themselves, her appointment as chair of the PTA fundraising committee, and the other grandma trying to win custody and Jen's plate is overflowing. This story of a life will pull you in, make you laugh, and touch your heart.
The always delightful Laurie Gelman doesn't disappoint in this latest (last?) installment of the Class Mom series. I relate to a lot of Jen's experiences with volunteering and aging parents.
