Interesting topic but fell short on the story itself .Too much embellishment not enough back ground story.
i really enjoyed that we still talk and write books about Cleopatra, this book was a well done non-fiction book about the Egyptian Queen. It kept me invested and felt like a well-researched book, there were a few weird parts of the book, but still an enjoyable read.

How does something this sexist get published today? The author objectifies Cleopatra beyond belief, making her body the center of his attention, and assuming it was the center of her peers' as well. The research is spotty and outdated, and I am appalled that this book even exists.
This was a different read, one that takes you back as though it is happening as you read. Cleopatra was an interesting figure, but I am not sure I loved the take on this book.
Having been an ancient Egyptian enthusiast for years, I was a tad disappointed with this take.
Decent, just not the dynamite I was hoping for!
Read if you: Want an imaginative and accessible biography of Cleopatra. If you are a "just the facts" biography reader, this might not be for you. The author does some creative imagining with Cleopatra's thoughts and actions; however, it's a very entertaining narrative.
Librarians/booksellers: This will likely have high interest, given the long fascination with Cleopatra.
