Over the past year, I have been becoming more of a fan of Diane Kelly's various cozy series. And actually this book is really 4.5 stars for me. Not perfect, but an entertaining mystery with characters you want to get to know better. Whitney Whitaker and her cousin, Buck, plan to transform a derelict old motel into a motor court condo location with the added value of a great skyline view of Nashville. Unfortunately, the discovery of the body of a rising star in country music may keep them from being able to recoup their outlay. So Whitney, along with her police detective, Collin, investigate using means that correspond to their particular strengths. While I settled on the guilty party fairly early, the getting there was quite fun.
I appreciate the publisher allowing me to read this book. I really enjoyed this book the characters were interesting and the book was hard to put down. I highly recommend
Murder With a View by Diane Kelly is the third book in the cozy House-Flipper Mystery series. As with most cozy mysteries each of these books in the series could be read as a standalone if choosing to do so as the mystery within is fully solved during the book. There is of course some character development carried over book to book for those fans following in order from the beginning.
In the House-Flipper Mystery series Whitney Whitaker had been working as a property manager to pay the bills while she had been living in her parents pool house with her cat, Sawdust. Real estate and renovating were really Whitney’s passions so whenever she got the chance she was diving into the house flipping business with her cousin.
This time around Whitney had her heart set on winning the auction for an old rundown motel in Nashville. The plan was to turn the property into upscale condominiums but as work was starting Whitney and crew found a body on the property which happened to be a famous musician. With another murderer to find Whitney teams up with her detective boyfriend to track down the killer all the while working on the new renovation.
The House-Flipper Mystery series is another cozy series that I have followed from the beginning after finding that cute quirkiness factor that I enjoy. This series differs a little from others by having an extra point of view thrown into the mix in addition to main character, Whitney, with that of her kitty, Sawdust, also getting a voice. Being an HGTV addict and loving kitties it seems impossible for me to not enjoy this series and this latest installment was another fun mystery yet again.
I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.
I enjoyed this story with Whitney and Buck. I liked the setting and them working on the motel. It was a quick, light read that I would recommend to others.
Diane Kelly’s third book, Murder with a View, in the House-Flipper Mystery series, is most certainly a page turner. From its onset the story was seeped in music history and information…all serving as a foundation for the enthralling murder mystery that captured my imagination and attention and held both until the very end…the same was true when the culprit was revealed at the very end, much to my delight. I had NOT seen that coming.
I’ve thoroughly been enjoying the series and its unique cast of characters…building the cast upon the movement of the series has held my attention and grown my attachment to all involved, and engagement with the plots as they’ve unfolded. I’m now thoroughly emotionally invested in what is next in store for Whitney and Buck, et al.
This ARC book was complimentary, provided by the Publisher and NetGalley. I am voluntarily providing my honest review.
This is the 3rd book in the House Flipper Mystery series. Whitney and her cousin Buck are baby, and they’re hard at work turning an old hotel into condo units. They’re excited about it until Whitney finds a squatter one day and a dead body on another. The victim turns out to be a famous country singer, and the suspect list for his murder is long. Whitney helps investigate as usual!
I liked the plot in this book, and the characters were fun and quirky. It’s a cute cozy that deserves 4 stars.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Murder with a View by Diane Kelly is the third book in the House Flipper Mystery series. Book three finds Whitney and her cousin Buck flipping an old motel with the help of a silent partner. The motel has more than they bargained for including a squatter and a dead country musician. Readers should not question how quickly the whole flip comes together with a three person crew and should ignore the realities of permits and inspections. Those points aside I enjoy the characters and the setting for this book. While I did solve the mystery ahead of time, several factors kept me second guessing myself for a bit. This is a nice light cozy if you are not one to get caught up in the details.
This is book 3 in the House-Flipper series and can be read as a stand alone book. Set in Nashville, Whitney and her cousin Buck decide to purchase an old rundown motel in a great location to build condos. With the help of her cat Sawdust they win the bid and start the upgrade. A drifter is living in one of the rooms and he's hired to help with the flip. Music intrigue mixes in with carpentry and the result is a great cozy. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Murder with a View by Diane Kelly is the third book in the House-flipper mystery. Whitney and her cousin Buck are trying to flip an old hotel into modern apartments when they discover yet another body. And the mystery in this one kept me on my toes.
And like previous books in the series I enjoyed the chapters from sawdust’s point of view Whitney’s cat.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher through netgalley. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.
Diane Kelly gives us another House Flipper mystery in Murder with a View. Carpenter Whitney Whitaker has outsmarted a real estate mogul to purchase a down at heels hotels which she and her cousin will turn into upscale condos. The Guard cat Sawdust finds the corpse of a popular singer on the site. Whodunit? Whitney needs to solve this so the rehab on the motel can result in salable condos. :Lots of suspects. Whodunit?
Whitney Whitaker and her cousin Buck are in the business of flipping properties. They have so far not done any major projects and their budget is somewhat modest. That doesn't stop them from bidding on the derelict Music City Motor Court motel in Murder with a View. Because the site offers wonderful views of the downtown Nashville skyline, Whitney doesn't think there will be any problems in finding buyers for the planned condos. After a bit of subterfuge, she manages to outbid her nemesis, Thad Gentry, and she and Buck immediately start the redevelopment of the site.
The first issue is . . . someone is occupying one of the empty rooms. The non-paying guest turns out to be Jimmy, a vet who travels around the country on his motorcycle as the mood takes him. At first Whitney wants to order him to leave, but then she decides that a willing, cheap worker might come in handy during the refurb. The next problem is when another room is found to be occupied, but this guest has "checked out" of life. Things get even worse when it turns out that the dead body belongs to none other then rising country music star Beckett Morgan, singer of the popular hit Party in the Pasture.
The motel becomes the site of crying fans and candle-carrying vigils as soon as word of the death gets out. Even with the unexpected increase in traffic, Whitney and Buck are able to continue the renovations. Whitney does take time off now and then to help her boyfriend, homicide investigator Collin Flynn, question witnesses and track down leads. She is also a cat-mom to Sawdust, who helps out in all sorts of ways, both with her job and in keeping Whitney safe.
Chapters alternate from Whitney and Sawdust's point of view (yes, we get to hear what the cat is thinking!). The story is somewhat slow-paced, and the suspects and their possible involvements in the crime are repeated quite often so the reader doesn't lose track of anyone. As a cat lover myself, I appreciated that Sawdust (and his small feline sidekick, Cleo) were such a prominent part of the story. I can't recommend taking a cat along to a construction site, though . . . The story was enjoyable and I enjoyed the vivid Nashville settings.

Murder With a View is the third book in the A House-Flipper Mystery series by Diane Kelly. I had not read the previous books, but was easily able to read this as a standalone mystery.
This was a fun read with a great mystery. The characters were likable and very interesting. This book was funny and a great read! I'll definitely be reading the previous books in there series! I can't wait for the next book to be released!
I'm so grateful to Diane Kelly, St. Martin's Press, and NetGalley for providing me with a free copy of this ARC ebook in exchange for my honest review.
Another fun mystery by Diane Kelly. Whitney and Buck win a bid on a motel, only to find someone living in one of the rooms and a dead body in another. The story has enough twists to keep it interesting and enough humor to balance out the murder.
Thank you to the publisher and to Net Galley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review. But because life got busy, the book was published before I could read the ARC. In order to find time, I purchased the audiobook. My review is based on the audiobook.
I love Diane Kelly's paw enforcement series so I thought I would try this one. Two flipper cousins buy an old motel to renovate it and end up getting more than they bargained for when they find the body of a famous singer. It is a good well written book. I found it to have way too much filler and overly descripted on things that did not further the story. They characters were also one dimensional and not very relatable.
Well written has great characters. Writer describes the characters with great details and a fun environment. Storyline has mystery with a slight touch of romance. Look forward to next one in the series if there will be one.
I absolutely loved Murder With a View by Diane Kelly! It is the third book in A House-Flipper Mystery Series. I have read every book in the House-Flipper Mystery series and this book is a nice addition to the series. Whitney and her cousin Buck flip houses all around Nashville for a living and everywhere they go there seems to be a crime of some sort. After purchasing the Music City Motor Court-a motel they intend to make into apartments-they find a dead body while cleaning up. The dead body they find just happens to be that of famed Country Music Star, Beckett Morgan. Whitney and her boyfriend, Detective Collin Flynn are on the case to catch the killer. I really enjoyed this book and how it's set in my hometown of Nashville. I liked how Whitney and Buck befriended a Veteran and gave him work to help them clean up the Motel. It was neat to see how all the characters have grown since the previous books. I highly recommend this book to cozy mystery fans and anyone looking for a light or fun read! I can't wait to see what happens next in the series! Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for the opportunity to read this book! (This review is also on GoodReads.)
This is the third book in the series and after reading the first two, I was happy to see this was available to request.
Whitney and her cousin Buck renovate and flip houses and in this book, they discover a dead body at the motel they’re planning on turning into condos. So of course Whitney wants to find out what happened since this could definite affect the real estate project going forward. The whodunit it was well written, Whitney is a likable character, and I like Collin as well.
The real winner in this story though, no surprise with my crazy cat lady love, continues to be Sawdust and I completely loved the chapters “narrated” by Sawdust.
I hope we get more books in this series!
Murder With A View by Diane Kelly
A delightful cozy mystery set in Nashville, Tennessee where the real estate market is to die for.
A delightful mystery with a lot of real estate.and reconstruction business going on. Interesting characters, including the cats. It was fun reading about Nashville and the country singers.
Thanks to Net Galley for sending me an advanced reader’s copy for review.
Murder With a View by Diana Kelly is the third book in the Nashville-set House-Flipper Mystery series, Whitney, Buck and their silent partner, Presley Pearson buying a one-story motel dated back in 1960's.
