The third novel in Red Rogue series, The Devil in Her Bed, concludes the story of three unusual women, each and every one of them exquisite in her own way.
Francesca is a redhead by heart, a heroine with a tragic past and a well-kept secret. She is bold, full of life and pure determination. Like the other women in the sisterhood, she is principled, educated, and strong, and quite used to navigate the high society and life without the aid of men. She is determined not to marry, as marriage brings to woman little freedom, no control over her financials or over her choices. Her purpose is justice for the loved and departed, a revenge on a secret and powerful organization…No room for love or a true lover.
Chandler is the Devil of Dorset. He’s a spy, a shadow, a ghost. He is also a man with a purpose, and he’s own dark and stormy past, as well as his chosen career, are making him alluring and mysterious. He is used to live alone, no true attachments, no room for love either. However, he is drawn by the fascinating Francesca…
Kerrigan Byrne weaves the story in her usual way. It takes a few pages and you are immersed in the story. You can feel the chemistry between the characters, the heat is there, and the story is entertaining.
The dark and evil society is a common theme in romance (for me anyway, I love Elizabeth Hoyt' s books); here, the author makes a great job in picturing the depravation and the lack of morality of some of the upper class.
For me, it was another great story. I was a little unhappy with the lack of atonement showed by the hero in the end, because he was kind of judgmental and obtuse at a point (like most of the men, really) and I would have make him a little more repent.
I enjoyed Francesca story, finish it in a few hours. It left me satisfied and with a renewed appetite for good romance, what more can you ask?

In these uncertain times there are few things you can count on - and escaping into delightfully lusty world of Kerrigan Byrne's historical romance is one of them!
"[He] peered past the art and artifice she’d tucked around herself, through the skin and sinew of her, to the cold and lonely darkness beneath."
Wonderfully atmospheric and high drama, Kerrigan Byrne's books echo the sweeping historical romance sagas produced by the genre's greatest authors of the past. Her heroines are strong women, who lust, seek revenge, support each other and ultimately get their way. Everything that happens is high stakes, emotions run high and its delightful to come along for the ride and bear witness to these characters falling for each other. Lovely luxurious fantasy to sink into.

I received a free copy from netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
This is the third and final book in this series. This book can be enjoyed as a stand alone but there are definitely elements that the pervious books help to explain better.
For the most part I liked this book but I feel like the previous 2 were better. And the overarching villain could have been better.
Francesca is determined to get vengeance for the murder of her entire family and everyone else in her household including the boy she loved. She has dedicated to getting revenge and will do everything she needs to get justice.
Chandler works for the secret service and is going to destroy the evil that has entered all levels of the government to the very top.
I liked Francesca as she was strong, independent, and smart. Chandler was okay but he did irritate me with his desire for a damsel in distress as if a strong woman is something bad. I feel like Francesca deserved better.
I love this author and can't come for whatever comes next.

The Devil of Dorset, hmmmm….

I've always been drawn to historical romance. I think the propriety of the times makes liaisons steamier, even when it's just a kiss! LOL

This is my first time reading a novel by this author and I really enjoyed it. Suspense, wonderful characters, emotions, good and bad. Smiling, cringing, swooning. I enjoyed it all, and I'm definitely checking out the other books in this series, and other works by this author.

I received an advanced reader copy, and this is my honest and voluntary review.

I could not put this book down until I reached the conclusion. Francesca and Chandler were fabulous characters and I could not wait to see how their story ended. Both haunted by the past and on a mission for vengeance. The only thing standing in the way of true love for either of them is themselves. Readers will be overjoyed with this book.

THE DEVIL IN HER BED is the first book I’ve read by author Kerrigan Byrne, but it certainly won’t be the last.

I will not restate the plot, because I don’t want to inadvertently give away any spoilers. Let me just say that the mystery overarching the entire book was well-thought-out with plenty of twists and turns. I could not put this book down. Beyond the mystery, I adored the chemistry between the Devil of Dorset and Francesca.

This is the third and final installment in Byrne’s Devil You Know series. It was easy to read this as a standalone, although there were just enough details about the other two women’s stories to make me seek those out next.

I always enjoy Kerrigan Byrne’s books, and I enjoyed Francesca’s story even more than I expected to. The one thing I struggle with is the excessive sexism and “alpha male” (aka abusive) behavior she saturates her books with. She has made strides recently to temper that aspect a bit, and this might be the best book so far in terms of that. Francesca is actually physically strong and the hero does appreciate her strength but of course he still does the typical “lying and tricking you but it’s ok because it’s for your own good” schtik which I am tiring of in romance novels. Also I wish Byrne would stop continuing the fiction that a woman must be a virgin (or had virginity taken by rape) in order to deserve a love story. The way ALL of her heroes obsess over the woman being a virgin is SO outdated, Undesireable, and overused at this point. Especially when all of the heroes aren’t even close to being virgins themselves. I’m tired of this double standard snd I would enjoy Byrnes books a lot more if she tried writing a different hero every now and then. “Beta” heroes, virgin heroes, feminist male heroes, they all could be written but she keeps giving us the same alpha male, abusive past, overly controlling hero. It really does feel like we just keep getting the same hero we got in Highwayman, over and over and over. So the book was enjoyable, suspenseful, sexy, etc. and if you like alpha male characters then you’ll love it. I’m tiring of the trope.

Deceit, revenge, and childhood lost love come together in this conclusion to the Devil You Know trilogy. Note, these books can be read as a standalone and I have only read the second book in the series before reading this one, but it worked out. The story is told in two POVS and follows Pippa (aka Francesca) and the Devil of Dorset ( aka Chandler), childhood friends, though Pippa harbored a one sided love for Chandler while Chandler was in love with Francesca. Francesca, Pippa, and Chandler were in a traumatic experience in which the Cavendish family was all killed off, ( with Pippa thinking Chandler died, and Chandler thinking Francesca and Pippa died). Fast forward 20 years and Pippa has taken on Francesca’s identity (after Francesca died) in order to exact revenge on the people who killed her family and killed her love. Chandler has molded himself into a spy and has found out that supposedly Francesca is still alive and goes to investigate only this Francesca isn’t how he remembered her. Chandler is instantly (obsessively) drawn to her while Francesca herself is mostly working on her revenge until Chandler crashes into her plans. *SPOILERS:* Chandler doesn’t know she is Pippa and the entire 90% of the book is him going on and on about how much he loved Francesca and how Pippa was just a friend and little sister to him, to her face. Francesca tries a couple times but never actually gets the words out and I am just sitting here like “the longer you wait the worst it gets and my god woman he’s going on and on about how much he loves FRANCESCA” seriously Pippa, no. I guess that’s what annoyed me the most about this book was just how Chandler was in love with Francesca and never really in love with Pippa and all of the sudden he is. This was a fun romance read and I enjoyed it. I definitely like the overall series and will get around to reading the first book, though I highly recommend the second book ( I gave it 5 stars).

*Thanks Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for sending me an arc in exchange for an honest review*

Every book by Kerrigan Byrne is a good book and this, the end of her The Devil You Know trilogy, is one of her best.  Reminiscent of The Highwayman in the reunion of childhood friends now scarred by life, Francesca and Declan have instant chemistry that isn't just based on history; it is also a clear indicator of their future.  They are both haunted by what has come before and fearful of what may come, but, together, they find the strength to move forward.

As the trilogy comes to an end, the secrets of the Crimson Council are revealed and they have horrifying implications for both Francesca and Declan.  They have to find the strength to overcome the power of the Council and the demons of their own past.  To do that, they rely on each other and Francesca's friends, The Red Rogues.

The story is well-written, engrossing, and will keep you involved from beginning to end. There are many twists and turns as all of the players are revealed and the full scope of the diabolical plot comes to light. Through it all the love between Francesca and Declan sizzles and burns.

I love Kerrigan Byrne so much. Her books are always so raw and emotional and this one is no different.

I didn't read the 2 previous books in the series so there were a few things I couldn't quite get the hang of, mostly what the bloody point of the crimson council was! It didn't take away too much from who was the villain and why and I was still able to thoroughly enjoy the book.

The hero and heroine were both delicious but the name Chandler did put me off a bit as I kept imaging him as Chandler Bing! Also for someone who said that he would be able to prove Francesca's identity by seeing her scar, he soon forgot about it when he saw her naked. I held my breath everytime they were intimate, expecting him to realise the scar wasn't there but it never came!

This book was very emotional and even the ending had me crying like a little baby, I found it very bittersweet despite the HEA it promised.

All in all, there were a few things that annoyed me but nothing that took away from my overall enjoyment of the book. 4 stars.

This was an amazing ending to the trilogy. We finally got to uncover who has been behind all the problems plaguing our heroes and heroines for years as well as discover more about the last red haired lady of the group, Francesca. I won’t say anything as it will give to much away. I leave it to you to uncover the secrets revealed in this fast paced page turner. I could not put this down and just flew through the book. I have discovered a new favourite author that will be an auto buy for me. Amazing job, keep up the great work!!

I have to say, on the one hand, it's refreshing for the male of the pairing to be the drama queen. But on the other hand.. wow, drama queen.

I think I've said in all my reviews that the highlight of this series is the strong female characters, and the friendships, and while I think this one didn't showcase as much of said friendship as the previous installments, we didn't really need it to. It had been well established. And it was actually sweeter to see the heroes fro, books one and two step into the limelight to support not only their partners but book three's heroine, too. We love a supportive friend group.

As for this book's hero, well. My complaint in book two was that character lacked the dimension of book one but I feel like this time Byrne went too far in giving this hero layers and angst. See aforementioned drama. But my struggle was also the dynamic of this relationship was complicated from the word go, with hidden identities and secrets, and nothing really made sense.. romantically. The sudden shift didn't make sense and it felt like some revisionist history was shoved down our throats to conveniently make it all work and I'll admit I didn't swallow, I choked.

What also didn't quite work for me was the big reveal of this secret society that was such a driving force behind all of the books leading upto this big confrontation. I appreciate that it's sort've addressed on-page to be pointless and frustratingly simple and or stupid but still.. I struggled with this.

The first half of this book is why this rating isn't lower. I felt it to be pretty strong, even if I rolled my eyes at some of the hero's behaviour and dramatic internal monologuing. Seeing the lengths the heroine was going, had already gone, for revenge, for those she loved; what she had turned herself into, become, and without knowing the how or why (at the time), it was also rather lovely to see how the hero appreciated it. Even if he was suspicious. Additionally I was definitely swept away by some of the chemistry and pull between these two before some of the masks came off. All of that really saved this. And with a weaker heroine it wouldn't have worked at all.. but she was truly the saving grace for this story and pairing; which is definitely the theme for most of this series. Sisters really are doing it for themselves. We love to see it.

While this wasn't an all-around win, rarely does Byrne disappoint to the point where I find no enjoyment at all in her stories. And I'm forever here for how she always gives us fierce heroines to champion. And that's just one reason I will continue to read this author.

Kerrigan Byrne has done it again! This book was a mix bag of espionage, revenge and romance all rolled into one. Francesca Cavendish and Declan Chandler were a super explosive couple. Both went through so much during their childhood, the 2 sole survivors who witnessed the massacre of their family and friends. Both with a common denominator - searching who was responsible for such gruesome murders. Pippa assumes the identity of her beloved deceased friend Francesca and transforms herself into a known seductress to bring down the organization she believes is responsible for the murders. Declan Chandler meanwhile works as a spy for the Crown and is known as the Devil of Dorset. Both get together to try and solve the murder but not recognizing one another as childhood friends. Absolutely worth the read. You get sucked into the story from the very first page. Cannot wait to read what Ms Byrne comes out with next!

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for this ARC in exchange for my fair and honest opinion.

This was my second book of the Devil You Know series, so I knew a little to expect from Kerrigan Byrne. She has a certain style of writing I've not encountered earlier. It is historical romance, with a definite edge to the stories. The main characters are certainly no saints and the gritty and gore of the old days are not disguised. Kerrigan keeps you on edge, when the story slowly unfolds. And there are layers upon layers in this story. Bot Felicia and the Devil of Dorset have a lot of secrets to hide.
I loved the chemistry between them and the way that Felicia is fearless in her guest to avenge her family. And of course, the Red Rogues do make an appearance, which is nice when you have read the other parts in the series as well. Another great read! Five out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.

This is my second book from the author and I enjoy the storytelling ,which differentiates it from most regency romances. If you didn't read the previous books, you will miss some of the background of how the "red rogues" came together. Highly recommended.

Francesca Cavendish has molded her life around avenging the murder of her family and friends at a young age. Pulled from the wreckage of a massacre by an employee of the Mont Claire household, the two dedicated over two decades to molding the young girl formerly known as Pippa into a dashing Countess capable of infiltrating London's darkest secret society. Francesca has lived a life of relentless and reckless focus and she can feel herself closing in on the men responsible for destroying her hopes and dreams as a young girl. But when her path crosses that of the Devil of Dorset, the Crown's most dangerous spy, Francesca feels the first tickle of true passion, something she would have never believed possible having lost her first true love in the raid that killed her family. As the two realize they are going after the same target, will they be able to work together to bring down the villainous cult or will their passion destroy them?

VERDICT is this is a steamy romance read that will entertain and thrill fans of historical romances. I was captivated pretty quickly by Francesca Cavendish and the Devil of Dorset. The story moves quickly and the suspense makes this book worthy of binging in a day or two. Even though it is the third novel in a series, it can easily stand on its own as a story. I had not read the two previous novels, but plan to go back and do so!

"The Devil in Her Bed" was a decent story of revenge and love. The plot involving the Crimson Council was quite good. The villains in this story are quite repugnant. Francesca Cavendish and her fellow Red Rogues, Cecelia and Alexandra, are delightful characters. I am interested in reading the first two books in the series, which tell the stories of how Cecelia met her fiancé and Alexandra her husband.

However, the author goes overboard at times. For example, Chandler Alquist, the Devil of Dorset, spy and assassin with the British Secret Service, has been trying to obtain the necessary information to take down the main villain, Lord Kenway, for years. Francesca, Countess of Mont Claire, has been working for twenty years to avenge the Massacre of Mont Claire, which she barely survived, and has only recently discovered Lord Kenway was the mastermind behind the attack. Francesca and Chandler, working at cross-purposes, finally obtain the information needed to take down Lord Kenway and the Crimson Council. They are fleeing an abandoned subway station, and Francesca wants to keep Lord Kenway from escaping, when they succumb to the passion of the moment and engage in wild, uninhibited sex. Maybe the author wanted to fit in one more sex scene before the big reveal that will tear them apart, but considering all they have sacrificed to get to this point, the spontaneous episode of lovemaking does not make sense.

I received a copy of the e-book via NetGalley in exchange for a review.

I really enjoyed this latest by Kerrigan Byrne and checking in with the Red Rogues. In all honesty the pretending to be someone else trope usually doesn’t work for me but I really enjoyed how Byrne wrote the romance between Francesca\Pippa and Chandler. I did have a few issues, I am sick to death of the villains in romance novels being gay men who like bdsm and equating bdsm with like murder, it’s tired and I feel like so many authors use this and I just can’t deal anymore. Also Chandler is known as an assassin and a master of disguise but we never learn how that happens after he survives the attack at Mont Clare.

I will say I like this one better than the previous books and Francesca/Pippa is definitely my favorite heroine in the series. If you like old school historical romances that are epic then you’ll enjoy this book and this author.

This story is spellbinding. You can't put it down. Francesca/Pippa has been through hell. Chandler has too. No spoiler in my review, just know that you'll shed tears with this one!
