I received a complimentary copy of The Devil in Her Bed in exchange for an honest review. Full disclaimer, I did not read the previous books in this series which may be the reason it took me so long to understand all of the plot twists and characters.

The premise of the book was great, and the first part really captivated me. However, once the storyline fast forwarded 20 years, I lost interest. I spent most of the time trying to figure out which character was which, and who was the friend and who was the foe.

I managed to finish the book, but it just wasn't a good fit for me. There were also several editing errors that were found throughout, Hopefully, they will be corrected before the book is released.

This is the 1st book I've read written by Kerrigan Byrne ; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I can’t wait to read more of her books.

The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.

I loved the characters.

The Devil in Her Bed
Devil You Know #3
Kerrigan Byrne
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

He is a man of incredible power, moving in and out of shadows, back alleys, and ballrooms. He is at home in one place as in the other and they call him the Devil of Dorset. He is also one of the crowns most deadly weapons and a spy like no other. However when he sets his sights on the beautiful Countess of Mont Claire, Francesca Cavendish, he doesn't realized that he has finally met his match in so many different ways.

Francesca is a Countess by day and stalks her prey- those responsible for the death of her family- by night. What she didn't expect is to end up in the path of the devil himself, the Earl of Devlin. She has plenty of secrets of her own and he seems deterdmind to strip her down and lay her bare. Can her heart survive finding the love of her life and losing him when all is revealed?

Kerrigan Byrne is absolutely brilliant. This book drew me in from the get go and didn't let me out if it's clutches until long after I had finished reading it. This is who Kerrigan Byrne is. She will slowly take you uphill then drop you off of the top Boulder and leave you to fend for yourself. This was one amazing book. It is chalked full of suspense, greed, and evil. That crimson council is pure evil and those people have to be stopped. Francesca and Chandler can do it and together they will, but weather they can survive together at the end remains to be seen. This was such a fabulous book and I really enjoyed it. Ms. Byrne your book was a total breath of fresh air and I truly enjoyed it.

ARC received for review

Great conclusion to the Red Rogues...except I wanted an epilogue about five years in the future. Francesca/Pip is determined to end the Crimson Council and find those who killed her family. Devlin/Declan/Chandler/he has a lot of names since he is a spy, but wants to out her as a fraud. Lots of action and adventure, some scenes with the other Rogues. Telephones...they have telephones. Like I said great book, but I needed that epilogue.

The Devil in Her Bed is a fitting conclusion to the Devil You Know series. The plot twists never end in this one! Pippa does seem to be a woman who doesn't need a man in this novel and Declan is quite the cad when he finds out her true identity as he must give up his childhood fantasies for a real woman. However, she kept her identity from him through the whole series, so...karma.

Truly enjoyed this entire series. Thank you to the author, St. Martin's Press and Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This was a powerful ending to a fantastic series. I was so glad to see Francesca get the ending she deserved, and I loved who the MMC turned out to be (and his connection to the previous book). Great, great book.

Another great novel in the Devil You Know series! I loved finding out Francesca's story. She is such a strong heroine. Learning who the Devil of Dorset was throughout the story was fascinating. Such great characters and how they dealt with their past traumas kept me riveted from beginning to end.

This book was a gripping emotional rollercoaster ride. I was hooked from beginning to end. Francesca has been on a mission of revenge since she was a small child. The Devil of Dorset on the same mission. The plot was ripe with tension, loyalty and love. It had me spellbound with the darkness they fought against not only externally, but internally as well. Each character was well developed and intriguing. The pace kept you turning the pages with a rich storyline. Although I did not read the previous books in the series I did not feel lost in the storyline. It did make me want to go back and read the other two now for sure.

I have a love hate relationship with this. One hand I love the revenge plot, betrayal, and steamy plot that kept me glued to the pages. On the other, the relationship between Francesca (who is actually Pippa in disguise) and Declan had me pulling my hair. There was hot sexual chemistry sure… but the majority of the novel, the Devil of Dorset thought Francesca was the girl of his childhood who he loved and lost. While Pippa was someone he had previously referred/thought of as his adopted sister and stated that she 'bothered' him. So when it was revealed who Francesca really was, Declan's reaction to discovering her deceit made him a new member of my shitlist.

It was quite clear to see Pippa was never a real option for him and he seemed more brokenhearted that he lost his childhood crush than their friendship. It was Francesca this, Francesca that. Pippa never once crossed his mind unless a question was brought up about her. I don't know… his words and actions didn't sit well with me and to be completely honest, I was quite disgusted by his behavior. Pippa deserved better and I was more than a little annoyed how he did a complete 180 at the end of the novel and professed he loved the real Pippa. Ugh. Give me a fucking break. Considering everything that has happened thus far, it was entirely unbelievable and it made me stop caring for the characters altogether. I would have much rather had Ferdinand lived through the stampede and made his proclamation come true by making Pippa a real countess. There was real potential there.

Nevertheless, it was still an enjoyable read and would highly recommend to all you historical romance readers out there despite my thoughts on the shittastic hero who didn't deserve the love and attention of Pippa.

The Devil In Her Bed was a fitting end to this wonderful trilogy. I’ve been waiting to devour Francesca’s story from the get. It did not disappoint. I loved watching her let her guard down, be vulnerable and fall in love under dangerous circumstances. I figured out the twists before they were revealed but that in no way took away from my enjoyment of the book. I’m going to miss the Red Rogues they captured my heart with their fierce loyalty and love for one another. If you haven’t read this series I highly recommend that you do. They are amazing.

Kerrigan Byrnes writes tales of heartache and lost chances. The plot twists and turns before you get to the HEA. This book is no exception. Declan, the Devil of Dorcer, and Francesca survive a horrible childhood tragedy only to be reunited twenty years later. Loved it!

England - 1872 and 1892

1872 - Pippa Hargrave, the daughter of two staff members at the Mont Clair estate, has loved Declan Chandler almost from the moment he arrived as a bedraggled waif several years ago. But she discovers that he loves Francesca, the daughter of Lord Cavendish, owner of the estate. As she grieves over seeing them together one day, horsemen ride to the estate, intent on killing all of the inhabitants. Declan and Pippa escape, but are separated. Pippa is saved by another servant, the Romani woman known as Serana who tells her that Declan was shot in the back.

1892 - Lady Francesca Cavendish, formerly Pippa Hargrave, has become the talk of the ton with her apparent free-living lifestyle. But, in reality, Francesca is intent on revenge on the men who murdered everyone at the Mont Clair estate. With the help of her friends, who have formed the Red Rogue Society, Francesca is back in London to find the murderers. Lady Alexandra Atherton, the new Duchess of Redmayne and Miss Cecelia Teague, engaged to the Lord Chief Justice, attended school on the Continent, and formed their society. They have discovered, thanks to Cecelia's betrothed, that the Crimson Council, a secret organization, has been responsible for horrible acts, possibly including the Mont Clair Massacre. Francesca has been training for years for the opportunity to exact her revenge for the deaths of all those she loved.

The Devil of Dorset has been observing Lady Francesca from a distance. A spy for the Secret Services, he is curious about her actions - actions which are unseemly for a countess. He also has another reason to watch her, he doubts her identity. The fact that she has, in a short period of time, become known for her exploits with a variety of men has the Devil wondering what she is truly trying to accomplish. But the Devil of Dorset isn't just interested in Francesca because he's a spy, he is also Declan Chandler, curious to know how Francesca survived the massacre.

Once Francesca and Declan (known to her as the Marquess Drake) meet, it isn't love at first sight. For Francesca, the attractive marquess seems to be awfully interested in her. Why is he asking so many questions? As much as she is attracted to him, Francesca has a mission to complete, and no man is going to stop her. For Declan, he doesn't want Francesca to get caught up in the dangerous dealings he's been investigating. But how to keep her from discovering his background, and, more importantly, how can he keep this determined woman from endangering her life?

The dangers involving the Crimson Council are more horrible than Francesca could possibly imagine. Fearless, she will infiltrate them via an invitation from the obviously dangerous Lord Kenway. Despite warnings from her Rogue friends, as well as Drake/Declan, Francesca will put herself in danger to get the answers she has searched for years - who ordered the Mont Clair Massacre, and why?

THE DEVIL IN HER BED is, at times, horrifying in its sinister incidents both past and present. It's also a poignant love story of two people who have witnessed great sadness as children. There are several scenes that will be difficult to read. The mystery behind the massacre is eventually revealed, but how will it affect the relationship between Francesca/Pippa and Declan?

I received an ARC of The Devil In Her Bed by Kerrigan Byrne from Netgalley. Pippa Hargrave and Declan Chandler are two people fighting the same fight, against the same people , not knowing the other, yet have known each other since they were children. This book is heart wrenching and gut rippng in it's emotional impact. It is mesmerizing in it's descriptive nature. A one of a kind story.

Francesca Cavendish, the Countess of Mont Claire, is the last unmarried Red Rogue. In truth, she is an imposter posing as the countess. Francesca plans to destroy The Crimson Council, the secret society responsible for her family’s death. She happens upon the only person who can expose her as an imposter. Can Francesca convince Declan to help bring down The Crimson Council? Or will her last secret shatter any possibility of a relationship?
Declan Chandler works as a spy for the British secret service. He is known as The Devil of Dorset. Chandler suspects the woman posing as the Countess of Mont Claire is a fake. He intends to learn why she is pretending to be someone she is not. However, Francesca courts danger by gaining The Crimson Council’s attention. What secrets will Chandler hide from Francesca? Can he protect Francesca from The Crimson Council’s evil?
Francesca is hardly the damsel-in-distress type. She is a strong and forthright woman, one who is not afraid to stand on her own. I like Francesca’s foresight and cleverness. She purposely conditioned her mind and body to take on the secret society that murdered her family. Francesca willingly used any ploy to achieve her goals. What I admire the most about Francesca is her loyalty and dedication towards the people she loves. She would literally move heaven and hell to help and protect her Red Rogue sisters.
Kerrigan Byrne is a master at writing wounded hero types. And Chandler is no exception. He is a man hardened and shaped by his traumatic past. I admire Chandler’s ability to assume roles. He embraces the role which allows it to become real. What I love the most about Chandler is how Francesca allows him to reclaim some of his humanity. He is used to living in the shadows and hunting down the monsters who would prey on the weak. She shows him that he is not that monster he believes himself to be.
THE DEVIL IN HER BED is book three in Kerrigan Byrne’s historical romance series, DEVIL YOU KNOW. I suggest reading this series in order, especially to understand the heroine’s close bonds with her two friends. I love how the couples from the previous two books play important roles throughout the story.
THE DEVIL IN HER BED is a thrilling yet breathtaking conclusion to a wonderful series. I am sad to see this one end. I cannot wait to see what new stories Kerrigan Byrne has in store for us readers!

Excellent conclusion to Kerrigan Byrne’s “Devil You Know” trilogy.

Ms. Byrne wove an exciting end to this series. Having read #1 and #2 The Devil in Her Bed answered my lingering questions and tied up the loose ends of the mysterious Crimson Council that had me anxiously anticipating this book. Francesca/Pippa was quite the heroine...What a spitfire! I loved having her childhood story to feel connected to her and rooting for her revenge.

I enjoyed the chemistry between her and The Devil of Dorset/Chandler/Declan. I will say the reason I made this a 4 star and not 5 is, again as I did in her previous two books, I had a bit of a tough time keeping up with all the nicknames and other disguises/personas for each character. With multiple characters and each having at least 1 (sometimes more) nicknames/personas it was tough to really submerse myself in the story without feeling like I was often pausing to think who was who. That being said, I did really enjoy continuing the Red Rogues’s story and would definitely recommend to a friend.

Special thanks to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for inviting me to read this ARC. Expected publish date is March 9, 2021.

The Devil In Her Bed, pssst...it's a must-read, is a magnificent historical romance by Kerrigan Byrne. Ms. Byrne has turned out a book that is well-written, BUT, it's the characters that make this story shine. After a horrific event, the lone survivor, Pippa, goes into hiding. Lord Drake is a spy with many names and disguises, what he wants most is to take down the people that killed those he loved. Pippa and Drake's story is packed with drama, humor, melt your e-reader heat, action and suspense. I loved this book and look forward to my next book by Kerrigan Byrne. The Devil In Her Bed is book 3 of the Devil You Know Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
