The Amish Secret Wish
Book 3 in the Hidden Springs Series
Rating: 4 stars
Thank you to the publisher for the ARC given through NetGalley for review. All opinions are my own.

The Amish Secret Wish was a very good and sweet story about two people have dealt with different kinds of heartache. Hallie is still dealing with the pain of losing her fiance and Kiah the loss of a relationship because his girlfriend had cheated on him. They develop a friendship via letters. He writes as himself but Hallie is only known as the scribe of her local newspaper. During this exchange of letters they begin to develop feelings for each other. Kiah decides to go in search of his scribe and easily identifies her as Hallie, but Hallie is not ready for a relationship and denies being the one who has writing letters to him. This is when the story unfolds and Kiah decides to go on a quest to describe the true identity of the scribe.
I really felt bad for Kiah for most of the story. He goes through so much to find his this mysterious scribe. Though he is going in circles deep down he knows that Hallie is the one for him. This is what I really liked about him. His feelings were always sure for Hallie. Hallie, poor girl, has have to dealt with a depression on her own and feels guilty for going on her life that she drives Kiah crazy with her unsure feelings.
In the end some truths were revealed that made Kiah's journey in finding his scribe a happy one.

Hallie became the scribe to their community newsletter after her boyfriend's death. If Hallie tells anyone that she is the scribe, she will lose that position. Wanting to meet the scribe to whom he has been corresponding, Kiah has arrived in town to meet her. Both Kiah and Hallie have shared their hopes and dreams in their correspondence, but Kiah only knows that her initials are GHB. Kiah's father is the traveling preacher and Hallie doesn't know how to act when she finds Kiah and his parents as guests in their home. I received a free copy of this ebook from the publisher through Netgalley. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. With Hallie unable to share that she is the scribe, it led to many amusing moments and misconceptions in the book. I thought that Kiah's father's opinion that Kiah needed to marry his ex-fiancée rather than look for the scribe was a little contrived. This is a very sweet romance that would be just right for a younger audience than me.

The title of this book resonates throughout the entire read.
Be careful what you agree to, being the scribe for The Budget and being unable to tell anyone that it is you. Using your initials to hide you name, and having a sister with the same, and then confusing a young man.
I loved the humor in this story, the dive bombing woodpecker, can still picture the young man in the Amish bonnet and shawl, no wonder Mammi drops the dishes!
When Kiah comes with his family and is looking for the Scribe, a lot of white lies are told, and they will have you giggling, you will meet George, an ant and cat lover, and his wife Meldew, um, he is a bit hard of hearing!
Come along for a delightful read of love, family and living an Amish life!

The Amish Secret Wish by Laura V. Hilton the third book in the Hidden Springs series from award-winning author Laura V. Hilton. Hezekiah "Kiah" Esh and Hallie Brunstettler meet briefly years ago at Hallie’s boyfriend’s funeral. He is struck by her, but it would not be appropriate to court her at this tragic time. Hallie and Kiah become secret pen pals.

Upon returning home Kiah begins to write the scribe for the Amish Budget newspaper. Although the scribe is kept a secret, Kiah is sure it is Hallie. By happenstance, Kiah and his family travel to Hidden Springs where his father is to be the guest speaker. You guessed it, they are invited to stay with Hallie’s family as Kiah goes on a wild goose chase to find his beloved scribe.

While there, their friendship grows, but can Kiah overcome his past heartbreak and Hallie learns what true love is really about?

You will enjoy this 5-star addition to the series. It will be released on April 27, 2021, so order yours today.

I was given a complimentary copy by the publisher, Forever (Grand Central Publishing) but was not required to give a positive review. Opinions are my own.

You will not be disappointed in this excellent story.

Hallie is the local scribe for the Amish newspaper, The Budget, in her community. When her boyfriend is killed in a tornado, several volunteers come to help and one of them is Hezekiah (Kiah). When Kiah sees Hallie at her boyfriends funeral, he knows it is love at first for him. After he returns home, he begins writing to The Budget and exchanging letters with the scribe known only as GBH and they become pen pals. In order to protect her identity and job, she never tells him she is the scribe. His last letter to Hallie says he is coming to her community to find the scribe and “marry her.”

Kiah shows up with his parents before she can respond to his letter and they end up staying with Hallie and her family. He announces to everyone what his plans are and why he is there. When Kiah sees Hallie, his heart tells him that she is the woman of his dreams and he should marry her, but his purpose for coming to her town was to find the scribe and marry her, not Hallie. Hallie also feels the same connection to Kiah, but cannot tell him who she really is. She sends him on goose chases to people with the same initials as her, trying to throw him off track. When Kiah meets her sister, Genesis Hosanna Brunstetter, he realizes she has the same initials as the scribe, but yet his heart tells him that she is not the one.

Will Kiah discover who the real scribe is? Will Kiah stand by his word and marry Hallie’s sister because that is who he thinks the scribe is?

This was a very funny, all around light hearted book that will hold your interest from page one. I received a copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher for my review and honest opinion about the book.

In this book, the third in the series, Hidden Springs, we find Hallie Brunstetter who lost her boyfriend in a tornado, now being a scribe for the Amish paper, The Budget, using the byline GHB.

One of her readers, Hezekiah “Kiah” Esh has become a pen pal with her. They correspond about their lives and how the losses in their lives have affected them. Kiah finds that he is attracted to GHB, feels he has fallen in love with her and decides he wants to find her. When he gets to the community he finds everyone he can with those initials to try to find the scribe, which seems like an impossible thing to accomplish.

This is a delightful book as he and Hallie grow their relationship, but confusion abounds as he needs to determine how he can find the scribe and how his feelings developing for Hallie can be resolved. I highly recommend this book to all who enjoy reading Amish books.

Thanks to Forever (Grand Central Publishing) and NetGalley for the advanced copy to read. The opinions expressed are my own.

I loved this funny and entertaining Amish novel. The romance between Hezekiah (Kiah) and Hattie begins as they exchange letters. Hattie is her community’s “secret scribe” for an Amish paper. Her pen name for her newspaper contributions are submitted under the initials “GHB”. Hattie is well aware of Kiah’s identity, since he has been writing “GHB” as a pen pal. Kiah unexpectedly accompanies his parents on a visit to Hattie’s community, and all three end up staying in Hattie’s home. He makes no secret of the fact that he’s looking for the scribe. Hattie would like to tell Kiah who she is, but doesn’t feel free to share her secret. What happens next is a humorous story that sets Kiah and Hattie on a very bumpy road to romance.

I had to laugh at all the troubles that Kiah kept finding himself tangled up in, none of which was his fault. He had quite a caring heart for people, and also had an unshakable love for Hallie. He became my favorite character in this story and I was hoping that he’d be rewarded in for his kind heart.

I loved all the characters in the Hidden Springs community. I’m hoping that there’s at least one more book in this series.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Is love a decision or is love an emotion.

While healing a broken heart, Hallie Brunstettler writes as a ghost writer for the Amish Community news. Her writing attracted the attention Kiah Esh who lives in another community. Without knowing each other, the two become pen pals not divulging who they are. Kiah has had a terrible relationship that he is taking time off and Hallie's letters of concern have helped Kiah heal. When he decides to visit and see who the scribe truly is, Hallie avoids meeting Kiah but avoids at all cost revealing her true identity. The connection becomes real between the two of them along with the misunderstanding. The misunderstanding comes from fear to love again.

Their relationship is an up and down. Funny and silly but also endearing. Even though Hallie will not admit who she really is, Kiah is drawn to her. His heart recognizes her sad and broken heart. Hallie is fearful of love and loss and Kiah is a breath of fresh air. Faith comes in many different forms depending on the battle each person faces. It is a battle of hope and taking a chance on what love can be.

A special thank you to Grand Central Publishing and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.

What a fun story! It held my attention from beginning to end. Amish pen pals. One searching for the other. One didn’t want to be found. This made for a lot of laughter as they played hide and seek, so to speak.

The characters are well developed and enjoyable to get to know. I really felt sorry for Kiah as he was led in many directions, trying to find GHB. But he showed tenacity throughout. Hallie needed healing from past hurts, as many of us do. It was enjoyable to watch her grow.

If you enjoy Amish romance with loads of laughter, grace extended, and spiritual growth, then I highly recommend this book.

I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review.

The Amish Secret Wish
by Laura V. Hilton

The premise behind this book is good, as is the first few chapters. However, the book falters and never quite picks up steam. The end is predictable and cliche. It is a nice, clean book which should appeal to a wide audience.

Laura Hilton has wrote another amazing book! I couldn't put it down!
In The Amish Secret Wish, we find Hallie and Kiah, who met back when her boyfriend was killed by the tornado that rocked the community. Hallie has shut herself in and can't let herself feel again and all Kiah wants to do is find his pen pal, GHB, who is the scribe for the Budget.

We follow Hallie and Kiah's journey to friendship, trust in each other and themself, forgiveness, and finally love. It is a wonderful story and you won't be disappointed that you picked it up.

Hallie Brunstetter has a secret. Well, a couple of secrets, but the big one is that she is her community's scribe for The Budget, the newspaper printed for the Amish people. She writes under her initials, GHB, and can't tell anyone that she does it by order of the bishop. She writes about happenings in her community - births, marriages, deaths - adding fun and humor where she can, and letting readers see a bit of her broken heart as well.

Hezekiah ("Kiah") Esh traveled to Hidden Springs 18 months ago to help with tornado clean-up. His heart stayed with a girl he met briefly at her boyfriend's funeral. As he reads the notes in the Budget, he falls for the scribe and begins sending personal letters. He believes from the first that he will recognize the scribe when he sees her, even though Hallie has never included personal information. He is dumbfounded to find how many people in Hallie's community have the initials GHB, but he presses on. The more time he spends with Hallie, though, the more he wants to stop searching for the scribe so he can pursue her. Can he convince Hallie to give him a chance?

This book was so much fun. Kiah had so many mishaps on his way to courting Hallie, it was like watching a bit of slapstick comedy. I liked how he stayed true to the scribe, even though he ran into closed door after closed door, after side trail. His relationship with Hallie doesn't come easily, but his heart doesn't waver.

I read this in a little over a day, so it's an easy read. If you love Amish romance, pick up The Amish Secret Wish for some fun to go with the romance.

Enjoyable and Entertaining

Hallie Brunstetter writes for an Amish newspaper. Because the identity of the scribe has to be kept secret, Hallie uses the pen name GHB.

One morning Hallie’s mother informed her that their houseguests were accompanied by their son. Hallie was very happy that she would be able to show the young boy around the farm. However, much to her surprise, the young boy turns out to be a young man, and a very handsome one at that.

Kiah Esh and GHB have been pen pals for some time, and although Kiah has never met her and has no idea who she is, he feels a very strong connection to her. Therefore, he has come to Hidden Springs in search of GHB. However, upon meeting Hallie and spending time with her, he finds himself hoping for the possibility that maybe, just maybe, Hallie and GHB are one and the same.

As Kiah embarks on his search for GHB, Hallie puts roadblocks in his way to avoid being discovered. Despite her efforts, Kiah isn’t deterred and their relationship begins to develop. As it does, and as Kiah continues his search, he takes the time to perform acts of kindness for others. Unfortunately, many of his acts of kindness don't quite work out as planned, resulting in some very funny situations that had me smiling and laughing. The humor accompanied by romance and a message of faith added just the right balance to the story making this a very enjoyable and entertaining read.

***I received a complimentary copy of this book, and this is my freely given, honest review. All comments and opinions are strictly my own.

Hallie Brunstettler met Kiah Esh when her boyfriend Toby died during a tornado. Hallie is a scribe for the Budget newspaper and goes by her initials GHB because it has to be a secret according to the Bishop. Kiah Esh had come to Hidden Springs, eighteen months ago to help with the tornado cleanup. When he goes home, he starts to write to the scribe. He develops feelings with this person. Kiah comes back to Hidden Springs with his parents. So he sets out to find who is GHB, except he has chemistry with Hallie. Kiah finds a lot of people have the same initials even Hallie's sister Anna. Laura Hilton has a unique style and this is the second of her books I have read. I really enjoyed the book and really has some funny parts.

Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. Hallie works for the budget newspaper and wonders what life holds for her. She is excited to write to her pen pal named Kiah who wants to meet her. She is afraid to meet him because she lives in a very strict village. When she does finally meet him, she is scared. I liked seeing the chemistry that slowly develops between Hallie and Kiah.
