This was an interesting read as there was a lot of description as to the BDSM and Dom/s lifestyle – the terminology, the explanation of consent, the toys. While there was a lot of factual information, I found the story light on the emotional connection between the MC’s. Even the intimate scenes seemed more about the doing than the feeling. This story could be read as a stand alone but it is probably better to have read the first book in this series as there are references to incidents and characters that appeared in book 1.
I loved getting to read the new book in the wicked sanctuary series. I enjoyed crystal and Jordan's story. They definitely had chemistry in their short encounter from the first novel, and the chemistry is still strong in this book. I liked how once one conflict was resolved, a surprise conflict that popped up. I'm excited to continue this series, and can't wait to read Damon & tessa's story next!
I received a complimentary copy of Entice from NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.
I think liked the first one better--a little more discovery. I forgot, though how much novel was cushioned around what I believed was the real purpose of the novel. ; ) I guess I understand the point of the court case and the attorney situations, but I definitely did not enjoy those parts of the book. (I also don't love the references to previous abuse of whatever kind. I highly doubt most people who are into that kind of thing have been abused. I don't know for certain, but it seems unlikely to be drawn to something if it is feared.)
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.
Entice, the second book in the Wicked Sanctuary series by Marie Tuhart was the first book I’d ever read that delved heavily into the world of kink. After a rough first encounter, Crystal Hayden and Jordan Frost give themselves a second chance after Jordan hires Crystal as his paralegal at his law firm. Everything she learns about the kink community is initially due to her job as a paralegal, but her surprising enjoyment of it all has everything to do with Jordan Frost. Over the course of an unprecedented case, they learn about each other, become intimately close, and find comfort and relief being together.
I knew this book had to do with some BDSM and I went in with an open mind to it all. I was really pleased to see that everything that came across in regards to kink was not overwhelming and I thought it was all done tastefully. It was a nice glimpse in a foreign world, still not my thing but I can appreciate seeing a good consensual relationship with probably better communication than most couples have. I thought Jordan and Crystal worked well together and the blend of their personalities was nice. They had tough family situations but they surrounded themselves with great friends. The friendship aspect of the book was really great and the overall concept of the book I enjoyed. Just enough drama, some romance and a little spice. I honestly thought it could have been spicier but given the fact that parts of the book went into teaching about BDSM it makes for good balance. Although it’s a topic some might avoid, I’d still recommend this for people.
Sparks fly between Crystal and Jordan when they meet but as he is to be her boss, he is off limits. Because of the case, Crystal and Jordan must work together very closely and he finally offers her an iron clad contract but will old fears haunt them both? Fast-paced read with loads of drama, suspense and steam. Great characters and a story that really draws you in. A good read.
This was a quick and enjoyable read! I was missing a little bit of context because I have not read the first book in the series, but it did not really detract from the main story. Some other reviews I read mentioned that there was a lot of dialogue for a shorter book and I agree, but overall I still enjoyed the story! There was a great focus on consent and communication between the main characters which is always important in a story like this.

Better than the first one but still too much dialogue about kink and what all it is. I did love Jordan and Crystal's interaction and chemistry. Especially liked their court case and Sage and Brady. Her family is yuck. Now the next one will be their friends Tessa and Damon, but I just don't see it right now (they like to yell at each other, a lot)
