The book is told from two different points of view: Sara's and Sam's. Unfortunately, the way those two points of view are written create a jarring effect for the reader. While Sara's sections flow easily, and are written in a style that does make it seem as if a teenage girl were experiencing them, Sam's sections are written in a stilted, overly-intellectual style that does not match up.
It makes for an unpleasant reading experience.
