The Queen's Assassin is a promising YA fantasy with many elements readers of the genre will love. It starts out in an intriguing and immersive way and definitely makes me look forward to reading the rest of the novel.
Many thanks to PENGUIN GROUP Penguin Young Readers Group and Net Galley for the advance look at this book.
This seems like a good book so far! Nothing particularly exceptional, but who knows after one excerpt. It seems pretty typical YA fantasy but I really don’t know after just a few chapters.
Having previously read the Witches of East End books by this author, I was initially excited to read the sampler for The Queen's Assassin. I was so very, very disappointed. I'm not a fan of shifting POV because it feels, to me, very distracting and jarring. I briefly considered searching for the full novel and giving it a solid try, but after slogging my way through the entire sampler, I rejected that idea. Honestly, I wish I had used the time I spent reading the sample to clean my bath instead. That way, at least, I would have had a shiny tub in which to soak with an actual good book.
My thanks, and apologies, to NetGalley and the Publisher for providing The Queen's Assassin Sampler to me in exchange for my honest review.
