I absolutely adored this book! I needed a light read, and Mia was the escape I was looking for. I enjoyed the chemistry and side characters. The writing, especially the dialog was contagious, and I had a hard time putting the book down, so I didn’t. I was hooked from the cover to the end! I will be reading more from this author.
Thank you to NetGalley and One More Chapter for the advanced copy for my voluntary review.
I really enjoyed this book, I loved that I could relate to the main character, more so than I have done in any other book I have read recently. The main character would rather have a beer at the bar than a cocktail, she likes football and is comfiest in leggings and a t-shirt or jeans and a t-shirt.
I loved the unique relationship that the 2 main characters had and how they were able to overcome obstacles through talking and learning to trust each other.
I find myself still thinking about this book a few days after finishing it and that to me is the sign of a really great book!
This felt very "normal," in ways, but I feel like there was a lot of secrecy with both Luke and Mia that was alluded to but should have been revealed to the reader sooner. By the time we find out about Mia's relationship issues, and Luke's, it's a bit underwhelming. The pacing also felt very slow during the middle, as these two date, but don't. The date ideas were fun, but Mia's hangups and judgments detracted some from that.
I did find myself a lot more invested in Luke, and his story. I think that was perhaps because he was less neurotic, and didn't judge others. He was a very stand-up guy, and I felt for him at times. He put up with so much!!
I truly enjoyed this book.. I loved the fact that their relationship grew over time... And that they were friends first. I feel like thw author implemented the right amount of conflict at the right moments. I loved that mia was a down to earth computer nerd. Luke was way more then meets the eye.. A classic story of when it's right it's right...
I enjoyed Luke and Mia’s story. I liked how they met organically and their story grew over time into something more,
I liked Mia as a protagonist and I enjoyed the story arc of finding out about Luke’s baggage. That really added to the story and developed it a lot.
The ending was sweet and well rounded and I really enjoyed the read.
Thanks for sharing!
I really really liked this one!
The main characters had great chemistry and there were plenty of hilarious scenes and I absolutely loved the dates they went on and the steamy and cuteness of their relationship.
Having both of their POV's made it so much better and I could hardly put it down during the first half.
I also liked all the side characters and that the issues within the relationship felt real.
My only issue was the length of the book as I think it definitely could have been a little shorter but I enjoyed this one a lot and I'll definitely pick up more of her books.
To get away from a bad relationship, Mia moves away from her home. New to Manchester, the highlight of her day is watching her hot neighbor across the way work out. When she decides to venture out to meet new people, she hits up the bar across the street. Lo and behold the bartender/owner is her hot neighbor across the way, Luke.
Luke is instantly drawn to Mia, and tries to get her to go out with him, but he has a reputation for getting around and after a string of bad relationships, Mia is a bit hesitant to start something up with him.
Since Mia doesn’t give out her number, Luke figures out another way to communicate with her and it strikes up a budding friendship that soon leads to more.
Overall, I loved the concept of the book, but it was just OK for me. It was fun and light, but I felt the book was too drawn out and the pacing too slow. I do like the author’s writing style and humor. The main characters are likable and have chemistry, I just felt it took forever to get anywhere.
I really liked that Mia was unapologetically herself and that’s what drew Luke to her. There were parts that were unexpected and that made the story a bit more interesting. I enjoyed the supporting characters, except for one who was quite annoying.
Maybe if you read faster than I do, you’ll like it more or maybe if the eARC formatting had been better, I would have gotten through it faster.
Thank you to NetGalley and One More Chapter for sending me an eARC for an honest review.
Ahhh this book was so cute and just what I needed! The cover was adorable and this whole story was amazing!
definitely adding this to my reread pile!
Mr Right Across the Street is a cute contemporary romance about two people who live across the way from one another. Mia, someone who is trying to start a new life, stumbles into her hot new neighbors bar and they finally meet.
Luke is completely smitten by Mia and feels an instant connection with her, but Mia is a little more hesitant considering her past relationships, and the fact that she is trying to make a new life for herself that doesn't include men. Soon Luke and Mia become friends, until feelings become stronger.
I thought this was a cute book. This would be a good starter book for those that want to try to get into romance that doesn't focus on steamy scenes.
I am an absolute sucker for rom-com’s where the two love interests end up exchanging notes in some adorable way, so the hook for this one drew me in right away. I loved the way the relationship between Mia and Luke grew. At first, I wasn’t so sure about Luke because, like Mia, I thought he was a bit of a player and I didn’t want him to like Mia just because she turned him down. But watching him fall in love with Mia’s quirky sassiness was so sweet and genuine. By the end of the book, I almost loved Luke even more than I loved Mia because I could totally understand where he was coming from.
I wish there had been more pay-off with one particular storyline, because it seemed like the situation resolved too quickly and there could have been a lot more drama especially since everything with the secret phone number had been teased for the entire book. But I did really like that Mia, in the end, did not allow small things to sabotage their relationship.
I loved Grace and the reveal with her. I had not been expecting that at all! Freya drove me nuts in a real-feeling way. Mia’s sister Elle was also a great character. I wish we got to see even more of Mia’s mother earlier on because she’s hilarious and blunt. And I loved Stan and Naomi little arc.
Overall this book was sweet and funny, and it really made me want to visit Manchester! Thank you so much for the chance to review it. I’ll be posting my reviews to amazon and my Instagram page on the publication date!

3.5/5 stars!
A huge thank you to NetGalley and One More Chapter for sending me an E-ARC for an honest review.
I love romance, so I will honestly pick up any romance that people recommend to me. I saw this book recommended to me on GoodReads and so I was super excited when I got approved for an ARC on NetGalley.
This book was cute! It was not my favorite romance ever, but it also wasn't terrible. For me, it falls somewhere in-between. I think my biggest issues with this book were:
1) The Length: This book was way too long. The romantic plot was way too drawn out and I found myself skipping forward because the pacing was too slow.
2) Sometimes, the reactions of the characters felt a bit stereotypical and annoying. I found that I felt this way more towards the end of the book. At the beginning of the book, I loved both of our main characters, and then towards the end I found myself feeling like the author then put her interesting characters into the normal boxes of "how romance characters have to react to certain situations"...
I will say that this book took turns that I did not expect but really enjoyed. The author made the characters really deep, and I loved... LOVED our main love interest, Luke. In the end, I do recommend this book to anyone who loves Adult Romance. It was a fun, light, romantic read.
Thanks for reading!

Firstly, I loved the sweetness of the cover. Once I started reading i couldn't stop. It was a lovely heart warming read with such a wonderfully strong female lead. I loved Mia, unapologetically herself and I love that.
This was my first encounter with this author and I love the ease of the writing, I never felt like the chapters dragged on or I was becoming uninterested. Such a lovely read. I will definitely be looking out for more from this author.
The only slight problem was the ARC format for this book was a little bit all over the place- some of the spacing was a bit distracting.
Mr Right Across the Street was cute! It didn't really keep me hooked like I had hoped it would and some of the drama had me irritated because I would've handled problems differently ~but~ everyone is different so it certainly can be viewed as #relatable
This gave off the tv series "Cheers" vibes which I am always 100% down with. (Who isn't, really).
This book was about a girl named Mia who recently moved due to a ~pesky~ ex-boyfriend. Luckily for her, she moved across the street from a hunky "Hot Opposite Guy" who happened to own The Bar Beneath (yes, literally the bar beneath). Sigh, their story plants itself there and flourishes. Guess you're going to have to check out the book on it's publishing date (January 22, 2021!!) to find out what happens.
I will, however, leave you with one of their first interactions:
"What about beginning with x?"
He laughed. "Then you'd have had our Xellent martini."
"Okay, I'll take the bait. What's so excellent about it?"
Another wink. "The name."
**Received an arc from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!!**
The arc that I was provided with was... eh, unfortunately. The formatting was poo and there were a lot of spacing errors, which stinks because it was hard to focus on the actual story when I have to stop and think about what "heands he" means.
Yes, yes, yes! I am here for strong female characters, always! (I am flexing my arms while I say this!). Firstly, I love that Mia moved alone. I think that should be commended from the get-go. This was such a sweet story, and the cover is beautiful!
Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC ebook in exchange for an honest review.
Who doesn't love a story about a strong, intelligent and unapologetically herself such as Mia? She may have been gutted at times throughout the book whether it be Freya, Luke or the other women, but she spoke her mind and got true love and happiness as a result. A true role model. Great heartwarming read.
Thank you for granting me this book in exchange for an honest review.
The concept of this book was incredibly sweet, with the messages on the window... It's like a Taylor Swift song.
You're dealing with a story line here that is of just trying to make it. Whether it's a new move to a city after getting your heart broken, to keeping a newly bought bar afloat. With the help and support of friends and family around, we learn that any and every goal is possible.
Let's talk about Mia and Luke for a sec.
Mia - really shaken by her last relationship to the point she wouldn't give her phone number to Luke until a good couple months into their relationship. But then, she realizes that she forgot to delete the Ex off a big Social Media platform? Makes no sense to me.
Not only that, it seemed like she took out a lot of this on Luke. I get where she is coming from when it comes to his past and his residual behavior from it, but he's trying to prove himself and doesn't need a wall blocking his way when something comes up. Communication is the key! She is a hard drive woman though who does go after what she wants. The walls do come down and when the fog clears, her happiness radiates off the page.
Luke- I feel as though he matured and grew up A LOT in this book. He went from a man who slept with a bunch of women to fighting for the attention and love of ONE. Sure, he's had some stupid moves as well (like, really, Freya could have waited on the sink - doesn't matter what HER motives were), but you felt for him, at least I did. Also, I know technically the bunny is Grace's, but it's super cute that she lives with him.
The little non-date dates were adorable and I wish that we got a glimpse into more.
I wish we saw more of the friendship that was building with the notes, as well. That aspect of the book was so sweet, and I feel like if they built a bit better of a foundation as friends, it would have led to a lot less misunderstandings.
The plot flowed smoothly, with the chapters not dragging, there was always something happening, that, to me is great.
Overall, it was cute and I liked it, even with a few hiccups here and there. I would recommend it.
This was very sweet. Mia doesn’t trust her own instincts about men so she doesn’t want to be attracted to the sexy bartender who lives across from her. Luke might have been a player with women, but he senses something different about Mia. So he puts up notes in his window for her. It turns out that sending messages in an old-fashioned way can win the lady in this age of texting, Instagram, and Tinder.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.
What happens when the flat across from you gives you a view of a very attractive guy, who for some reason has started leaving you messages on his window? This fun rom com follows Mia a computer programmer with green streaks in her hair, running away from her persistent ex, and newly moved into Manchester for a new start, and a very attractive bar owner named Luke, who is known for sleeping around a lot and not looking to settle down in any relationship, that is until a green haired lady walks into his bar and now he just can’t get her out of his band. Mia is not looking to start any relationship after all the bad one’s she’s been in and Luke seems determined to win her over. Is there more to this bar owner than his good lucks and charm? Luke is going to try everything to win Mia over, even if she only wants to be friends. Thus begins a sweet love story between two people falling in love and overcoming both of their own insecurities and pasts. The story is told in both POVs, which is great! i had fun reading this and getting know Mia and Luke. They definitely make a sweet and adorable pairing!
*Thanks Netgalley and HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter for sending me an arc in exchange for an honest review*
Hi, my name is Laura and I am in love with this book.
I am of course a fan of a high-quality rom-com and Mr Right Across the Street has it in spades. If you need something to read over a rainy weekend this is the one. Fall into the world of Luke and Mia or as I started calling them when raving about this book to my friends - Bunny Man and Coding Girl.
I started this book this morning and did not move until I finished it. I am obsessed and ready to read anything that Kathryn Freeman puts out for the foreseeable.
Also, Mia kinda makes me want to mess with my hair so wish me luck. But rom-com fans everywhere give this book a go.
I was looking for a fun contemporary British romance, and I got that. Here, Mia has recently moved to Manchester for a fresh start from her disastrous dating life. Then, she notices her hunky neighbor across the street has begun to leave her notes in his window since both their spare rooms face another. He's Luke, a bar owner with his own issues but by helping to show Mia the town sights, he sees what real romance can be. Because he's just besotted. The book is told through back-and-forth dual perspectives, and the two of them have such banter down pat. Soon, they start exchanging messages through the windows, and a friendship develops. It's a cute slow-burn romance full of fun language and fun, delicious banter that I can't get enough of. Sure, this book is a bit slow to start and really get into, but it does get a lot better and cuter. I love a good nerd and cool kid romance story, and this one is just positively cute and fun. The ending is very sweet too, like giving me butterflies good.
