Very cute story with appealing illustrations! Definitely a good choice for kids who are slowly being introduced to the world of graphic novels. The panels make it easy to follow and it would be a great stepping stone! The story itself was also fun

This children’s story was hilarious, impactful, and thematically strong! Front of the line for teachers of young children.

Such a great sequel. This graphic novel series is great for readers that are interested in starting to read graphic novels and struggling readers. Sparse text and funny story line will hold children's interest. I look forward to future books in this series.

How cute are these illustrations? Younger readers will love Norma and Belly in the introduction to graphic novels

What a delightful new adventure with the squirrels Norma & Belly! Graphic novels are hot with young readers at this point and this one will be a sure hit with the Narwhal and Jelly crowd. I'm looking forward to highlighting this title on Fall displays!

This is a cute little book with squirrel spies and mysteries to solve. I really enjoyed going on this adventure.

This was a short and sweet little graphic novel. A grandpa squirrel gets tired of living in the city and goes off to live in the country. It isn’t quite what he expected. It’s a great Segway into graphic novels.

Book two of the Norma and Belly series with a continuation of delightful squirrels. Gramps accidentally ends up in an apple truck and the others must go rescue him. With light, water color graphics, the squirrels work together and all get a chance to finish the book Gramps was reading. Short chapters with little dialogue, a great graphic novel to help younger kids develop their literary skills.

Follow the squirrels as they rush to find their Pops..., who has been kidnapped by an apple orchard! This is an exciting graphic novel!

Pops and his grandsquirrel are visiting the local Farmer's Market. They stop to sample some apples when - Oh no! Pops is accidentally loaded into a truck full of apples! He's always wanted to visit the country but not via the apple processing factory at the local orchard. Fortunately, Norma, Belly and their friends are all on the case to rescue Pops before there is a pie-tastrophe.
This is a delightful intro to graphic novels for the younger set. If you have preschoolers/Kindergartners that like graphic novels, be sure to share this one with them. Lots of good problem solving and a subtle nudge that learning to read can be really important. I liked how everyone pitched in to help rescue Pops.
Be sure to have a yummy apple snack on hand to share at the end!

I love the design of the squirrels in this series. They're like little fluff balls. The simplicity of their design keeps the panels from becoming overcrowded and chaotic. The plot is simple and easy to follow.

Chaos ensues as Gramps accidentally ends up on a truck that is farm-bound, but there are no worries with Norma & Belly on the case. Some familiar faces make this story as silly and enjoyable as the first one.

For Libraries: Fans of the first Norma & Belly are going to love following along during their next silly adventure.

The follow-up to last year's Donut Feed the Squirrels, the newest Norma and Belly adventure is an adorable romp to save Pops, who falls onto a truck and heads to the apple orchard where he may end up in a pie! Norma, Belly, and their friend, B, are on the case in this sweet story, perfect for newly confident readers. The watercolor artwork is colorful but not overwhelming, with lots of calming earth colors and cute animal artwork. A school trip to the orchard provides some extra fun as the squirrels dash around the kids on their race to find Pops first.

Mika Song's website has all sorts of treasures for readers, including extra comics, a newsletter signup, and printable activity sheets! Great to bundle with other graphic novels for young readers, like Narwhal and Jelly, Blue Barry and Pancakes, Fox and Chick, and Shark and Bot. You can also mix up the formats and include other books, like Mo Willems's Unlimited Squirrels series, or Mélanie Watt's Scaredy Squirrel series (graphic novels are forthcoming, too: future post!).

Apple of My Pie has a starred review from Kirkus.

Norma and Belly are back for an another adventure. This time, they need to save Grandpa from the apple farm.

This book is good for PK-1 children who like animal stories and adventure stories with a bit of silliness.

Norma and Belly are back with another delectable adventure. Last year the squirrels discovered donuts. Now they venture into the world of pies. Apple pies.
Gramps and Little Bee visit the local farmers' market and unfortunately Gramps falls asleep in a truckload of apples bound for the factory. This could be trouble! Little Bee enlists Norma and Belly to help rescue Gramps from what could be a dismal fate: A squirrel baked inside an apple pie.
The rescuers travel to the Crunchy Acres apple orchard and processing plant. Their search for Gramps lands them in a vat of apples that are about to become pie filling.
There is plenty of clever word play. The squirrels are dumped onto a conveyor with an incline. They note that “things are looking up.” Norma escapes from the apple peeling apparatus and exclaims “that was a close shave.”
Picture
This charming tale of friendship is jam-packed with special touches. Fans of Donut Feed the Squirrels will notice cameo appearances from some familiar characters. Song brings the story to a satisfying conclusion, tying together the worlds of humans and squirrels. Apple of My Pie is a delicious treat not to be missed.

I loved this book it is just what I don't have enough of in the library and easy chapter book that kids will find funny and engaging. I am going to be adding it to the library as soon as it comes out. This book is hilarious and I loved the story line. The illustrations were great as well.

In this sequel to Donut Feed the Squirrels, the intrepid squirrel friends find themselves on a rescue mission after Gramps accidentally hitches a ride on an apple truck. Hilarity ensues when the four squirrels find themselves in an apple processing plant...will they end up baked a pie or will they ever find their way back home??

I loved the reappearance of the favorite human characters from the first one, as well as the uniqueness of this new story, but a few times there were gaps in the timeline that made me feel like I’d missed a panel or two, and when the most action was taking place it was hard to understand which squirrel was which (and where!). Overall though very enjoyable!

ARC for fair review
This is a very cute early graphic novel that would be great for kindergarten age readers who want to read comics with the big kids! Very fast-paced story, cute illustrations.

A sweet companion to donut feed the squirrels with the return your favourite characters and introducing some new ones. The squirrels still get up to food-based trouble and the silliness is exactly what kids are looking for.

This is such a cute, fun easy graphic novel. If you haven't read the first book in the series, Donut Feed the Squirrels, you'll still enjoy this book but I do recommend reading that as well because it's really good. This book has fun, simple art that is appealing with lots of white space. The text is simple and well-written. Really fun read!
