Unfortunately I couldn't get into this one. I found the writing style very choppy. I found Claire’s behavior somewhat juvenile. And I didn’t feel the romantic connection between Claire and Byron. This one was not for me.

Ms. Putter’s debut novel is an action-packed thriller with an unexpected ending and a great beginning to a promising series.

He was the man of her dreams…literally! Claire Baxter can predict the future when she touches someone. However, she’s never touched FBI Agent Byron Black, she has had recurring visions of his future since she was 14 years old. When she sees his death in her latest dream, she is determined to find him and figure out how to save him, but will it be too late?

Agent Byron Black’s life motto is ‘trust no one, and no one can betray you’. He’s a workaholic with no time for relationships. So when a young skinny girl suddenly appears in his life with outrageous predictions of seeing the future…specifically his ominous future, his emotions are all over the place. But as her predictions start to come true, he’s intent on helping her get to the truth as the clock ticks down.

It took me a while to warm up to the pairing of Claire and Byron. I guess I expected more from Byron being the mature FBI agent. I felt he let his emotions for Claire take over far too soon for all of his experience with dangerous situations. As for Claire, she came across a little crazy and too flippant sometimes considering she was trying to save the world. And for Agent Taylor Penn who is Byron’s partner and the third POV in the story, I felt she was put in a difficult situation since her partner didn’t confide in her from the beginning. It’s unfortunate what resulted in her single-minded search for Byron and Claire.

I recommend this riveting romantic suspense thriller to those who enjoy interesting characters and an unpredictable ending.

Thank you to Ms. Putter for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.

The premise is really interesting and there is a lot of potential in exploring the conflict between the natural disbelief a federal agent would feel for a clairevoyant's visions and a sense of duty to save innocent lives. Take an interest in a person who seems to know your past and present incredibly well, despite the fact that you've never met her, add the bonding experience of surviving an incredibly dangerous journey and passion is bound to spring to life.

Still, I didn't find it easy to connect with the characters. Claire comes across as quite immature. Perhaps, we are going to see more character development in the following books. I didn't feel we got to know Byron that well, either. I don't want to give the story away, but I would have liked to see and understand better his relationship with his family. Penn, Byron's partner, is probably the only character where I felt the level of detail was just right.

The part of the book which worked the best for me was where the protagonists become fugitives and run for their lives. Since this is the part which resembles most closely a thriller, perhaps, my expectations are at fault. I was also a bit confused about the science fiction bits at the end of the book- the explanation seemed a bit rushed or perhaps everything is going to become clearer in book2.

This is the first book in the a series by a new author Nicole Putter. It takes courage to write and publish books and sometimes those stories comes to life and other times they do not quite make it. This book is one of those stories. The story has an interesting premise of a girl who sees the future that can change the future depending on how she reacts to the information. Claire has a dream she can not ignore and a person she needs to warn even though she has never met that person.

The story is very slow moving even when Claire finally meets the man in her dreams who can't decided if she is crazy. While Claire comes off as a young girl naïve who fell in love with a FBI agent from her dreams. When in fact she should be more level headed young adult who is trying to prevent the end of the world.

While the two try and stop the world they have sex. Her first sexual experience because after all they have sex before the world ends.

A Shattering Glimpse fails to delivery what readers are giving in the synopsis of the story. The story lacks excitement, characters who connect and realism needed to have a convincing story.

Thank you to Netgalley for the advance copy of Nicole Putter A Shattering Glimpse
