Step By Step is an adorably illustrated exploration of baby's first steps. The artwork of baby animals wobbling their way through the various stages of learning to get up and walk is cute, expressive, and rendered in a cozy, bright color palette. The text doesn't live up to the illustrations, though, as the lack of capitalization and punctuation makes it an awkward read; it could also benefit from some kind of rhyme, rhythm, or repetition pattern to give it a kind of structure and shape. Despite this, though, it's a sweet, cute book, appropriate for bedtime read-aloud.

Thank you to Clavis Publishing and NetGalley for the advance review copy!

A cute little board book perfect for reading to toddlers just learning to walk. The illustrations are charming and colorful, sure to catch the child's eye. I really enjoyed that aspect.

My main critique is the lack of capitalization and punctuation in every sentence, which made it feel like I was stumbling through run-on sentences. I had to visually correct myself each page, which takes away the enjoyment of reading for the adult.
And, ff a child is using this when they're learning to read, they'll miss that integral part of sentence structure which can be confusing. It seemed like an omission based on a desired look of simplicity more than deep thought into teaching.

Very cute baby animal art around a story of learning how to walk, being safe, and being ok to fall. The art will be attractive and provide lots of re-read value when your kids wants to read it again (and again and again!).

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an electronic copy to read and review.

This will be a great addition to any baby's personal library. It shows baby animals and what they need to do to help them learn to walk. It is very cute.

'Step by Step' is an adorable book about learning baby animals learning to walk. I liked the reassuring tone that it takes time and determination to learn to walk. It lets young children know that it won't be easy and they will fall, but they will eventually learn how to stand and walk. The lack of capitalization and punctuation was a little distracting in this book. Overall, a very sweet book for very young children while they're learning to walk.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for providing this ARC.

I have read thousands of kids books and I can say I have never read anything about learning to walk. What a great idea! I loved all the baby animals and the story line. How fun for little ones to hear about walking from animals point of view!! Adorable! Illustrations were well done - soft lines and bright colors perfect for young ones and parents alike!

As much as I enjoyed the story, I do wish the author would have used correct punctuation and capitalization. I think this took away from the adult enjoyment. I found myself correcting the missing things.

Overall, well done. If I was giving stars based on story and illustrations alone, 5 of 5. But due to the writing style, I have to rate 4 out of 5.
