The idea of this book is lovely, and there certainly are some parts that work. However, there were several things that rubbed me the wrong way in the first few pages: presuming the reader is married, using a patronizing tone as though the reader is the child and not the mother, suggesting an essential oil diffuser—which is dangerous for newborns—be kept at the nursing station, providing a recipe for lactation cookies despite a complete lack of evidence that they are effective, etc. It was enough to sour the rest of the journal for me.

As a new mom through adoption I really like that the prompts aren't all pregnancy/birth focus. There are quite a few that are but most are general. I enjoy that this book has more than just writing prompts. There are also quotes, stories, checklists, and even recipes! There are tips for nutrition, self-care, and more. I look forward to fully filling out this journal throughout my first year as a mother.

Quite a calm and helping journal especially for first pregnancy and child birth.

This is a journal about being conscious about the changes that are happening both in the body and mind of those who are going through pregnancy and their first child birth.

I like the format and I appreciate how detailed are the reassurance given to the young moms.

However, I wished the descriptions were divided into fewer sentences and had a uniform spread out to make the journal more interesting and attractive. I wanted more illustrations here and there. The practice parts seem a little dull with the question and answer format.

But yes, having a journal to keep and maintain during such crucial time will make the journey quite interesting and memorable.

Appreciate all the efforts of the team.

Thank you, Publisher and Author for the advanced readers copy.
