This book is a quick, concise read about trauma, some trauma therapy clients and their experiences, and various techniques you can use to deal with your trauma. It is important to recognize the effects of trauma on your feelings and behaviour. Learning various techniques to calm and ground yourself is useful. This book doesn't go very deep into the subject but it's a good start.

As someone who’s undergone EMDR therapy this was a nice refresher and definitely a good read for someone who is just beginning therapy.

This was an interesting book. I thought the information presented was well laid out and flowed well. I really enjoyed reading it and want to try and start implementing some of what I read.

Full disclosure: I've been treated for complex-PTSD by Dr. Darsa within the past several years and have attended her trauma treatment center.
I think this book would be a great read for anyone who is just starting to learn about the effects of trauma. There's a lot of really good information about grounding and reconnecting to your body and to your emotions. For someone who's a little further along in their healing journey, there won't be any groundbreaking elements that will change the game. And Dr. Darsa's claim to heal trauma in five easy steps is a little too simplified for the complicated world of PTSD. Overall, I would recommend this title to someone who needs some basic information about trauma work or if you're someone who's looking to support a loved one who's suffered from trauma.

I did not love the format of this book but I did find helpful information to navigate myself through healing from my trauma

Thank you to the publisher and to Net Galley for the opportunity.
This is a short book that reads as if your having a therapy session. The author covers trauma from childhood, anxiety issues, depression and victims trauma . Trauma effects on the body are discussed and how trauma affects us long term if not addressed. I found it a easy to read and understandable from each viewpoint. I would recommend this for anyone going through a trauma.

The Trauma Map by Karol Darsa is a great book for those going through treatment for a past that causes depression, addiction, anxiety, trouble breathing, etc. She helps people work through the childhood trauma that is preventing them from healing from a present trauma that occurred in their adult life. She goes through tips on how to heal and learn to take care of yourself first.

The Trauma map effectively skirts the line between therapists manual and effective self-help conversation. I felt I was reading a lecture by a kind and knowledgeable professional, and I intend to start journalling
more often. The chapter on reconnecting with your body was good but I wanted more on that subject. Overall, recommended.
