Nice book with solid advice. Would recommend to others. Thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for the ARC of this book in return for my honest reveiw. Receiving the book in this manner had no bearing on my review.

Charming, insightful, and thought provoking. It would make a lovely graduation gift.

ARC from the publisher via NetGalley, but the opinions are my own.

This book will teach you how to be alive! For those moments when you feel just a little bit less than. It’s a series of little ripped notes and reminders to help you become yourself - your fully alive and present self - that read like notes-to-self you scrawled in a hurry before you forgot because you wanted to remember, and I love that. It’s how to be in the moment, again. Just regular, good ‘ol, fun, life advice. Reminder: Isn’t it fun to be here right now?

○ a life advice book written in style of post it notes
○ short, simple and valuable directions with occasional drawing in between pages

I found myself in some tips, for some I just wanted to take a screenshot and save it as a reminder for my now and future self, and some screamed to me *send me to __, they could benefit from it*.
I feel like I would really enjoy a physical copy of this book, as the concept of post notes being put together in an album exictes me.

I would like to thank Hallie Bateman, Workman Publishing Company and NetGalley for providing me a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

Delightful and charming. A perfect book for today. And a perfect book to give to some of our favorite friends.

Just what we needed after the past year, Bateman's Directions are an antidote for the doldrums of the darkest days of winters (or pandemics). Probably a book best viewed on a color Kindle or a hard copy, I felt as if I lost out on the details of some of illustrations and the joy of skimming through an actual book to randomly open up to her small directives. Each page is home to a simple reminder for finding the joy in life, or as she calls it 'alive'. From 'repeat a word until it makes you laugh' to 'I am plenty. I have plenty' each one could stand on its own as a simple meditation for living in the moment and finding joy in each of those moments.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher who sent me a digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

For fans of SARK and Mari Andrews.

Bateman has created a book of small notes for people wanting to feel alive - her introduction tells us that Alive people are mindful and present, while Not Alive ones are just here drifting through life.

Bateman's advice is a bit of a mixed bag as some of these thoughts will resonate more than others. The notes themselves are bright against the elegant scrawl of her handwriting in black marker.

Your mileage may vary for this one - I found some of her notes memorable - she touches briefly on deeper topics like privilege and jealousy, which I liked. However I found this book to be a bit too broad for my liking.

It would make a great gift for someone who loves the colourful work of SARK or Mari Andrews.

I received a copy of the book from Netgalley to review. Thank you for the opportunity.
A quirky and fun read in the style of post it notes that has a big heart and a big message to give. I really enjoyed this book and read it in one sitting. It was a timely reminder of being Alive and being human.

I loved this so much, so simple yet so enticing. I loved the aesthetic throughout; Kindle was kind of wonky. But when I used Netgalley Shelf, it looked incredible. I got the concept and what the book was intending to do. I, too, think adding exclamations and smiley faces to emails is the best! :)

Hallie Bateman is a freelance writer and illustrator whose Instagram feed is one I didn't know I needed until I read this book! Bateman can get right to the core of an anxiety or an emotion or an outlook on life with her drawings and her "Directions," which is what this exquisite book captures. Each page is a "Direction" (a little bit of life advice) inspired by Bateman's Instagram posts (per the publisher's description, the book includes Instagram follower favorites as well as new ones). And this advice? It's grounding and humorous, freeing and real. This would be a fantastic gift book, the perfect add-on to a graduation present, or a book to set out on your entryway table for guests to glean a tip that might change their outlook on the day.

Thank you NetGalley and Workman Publishing Company for the advance copy of this book.

Thanks to Workman Publishing Company for the DRC!

I love this book! These advices are so simple, but so true. Life's hard, sometimes we forget about the most simple things that can make us happy. I think everyone should read this book. It's a great reminder of what really matters in life.

This book is full of little nuggets of wisdom, one quotation on each page. It would make a great gift for fans of Rachel Hollis or Glennon Doyle, or anyone who just needs a pick-me-up. It's the kind of book you'll want to read and enjoy over and over again.

Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received.
