This is a great mystery thriller.
It reminded me of Big Little Lies at first and pulled me in immediately.
The neighbourhood is having a pool party and there’s lots and lots of people there
As you begin reading you wonder if Sabine was kidnapped because it’s difficult to find a reason why would she leave on her own and give up her comfortable life. But as the hidden secrets of each of the characters come tumbling out, you realize that this is something more than just a missing persons case.
There were definitely some amazing twists throughout the book but my favorite has to be the ending.
I spent the first half of this book trying to figure out what each character was hiding, because it certainly seemed as if there were secrets galore. A few were revealed here and there, which kept me engaged. Roughly halfway through the book, the author abruptly switches for some backstory. It was an effective way of relaying important information while also casting doubt on the reliability of Erica. I also thought that the author did a good job of making pretty much every character unreliable at one point or another. And then there was the big shoe drop. And I mean BIG. I didn’t see it coming. At 75%, another bomb….and it was glorious. It did seem as if the author tried to wrap up in a hurry, and the ending seemed a little rushed, but all of the revelations were enough to make it interesting until the very end. I believe this book was well written. I am not a fan of jumping from past to present to distant past, etc. I had trouble connecting with the book at this point in time in my life and gave up. I skimmed a bit to get the gist but did not have the interest to read from cover to cover. I have read other books by this author and have a feeling that I would enjoy this story in at a different point in time. Thank you for the copy and the opportunity to read - I am sure it will be a hit with others.
Not for me. I don't like books that I have to force myself to read more than half before it gets interesting.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and the author, for an ARC of this book, in exhange for an honest review.
"The Missing Woman" by Georgina Cross was a cleverly written thriller that had alot of unexpected and exciting twists.
This is the 1st book that I have read by this author but it won't be my last.
The scariest thrillers to me are the ones that could so easily happen. The Missing Woman is one of those thrillers. So plausible it will give you chills. Will be purchasing for the library's collection.
A twisty, suspenseful book. One day Sabine disappears and everyone is a suspect. Everyone is trying to blame other people. But there's a few loyal friends with some secrets. Sabine has many secrets which are exposed throughout the book too.
Thanks Netgalley and the publisher for the advance ecopy.
DNF. I could not get through too many characters, too detailed narration and gossiping neighbors. I had problems with the writing and lost interest pretty fast. Thank you NetGalley and the Publisher for that ARC, but this read just wasn’t for me.
Wow, wow, wow! This was well written, fast paced, unputdownable thrill ride! It was completely riveting and written in a manner that had me so tense with the tension melting off the pages! Thrills, chills, twisty turns, and shocks are sure to get you throughout this amazing rollercoaster of a book! Highly? Highly highly recommend! Be sure to clear schedules and do not start before bed time!
just finished this gem and let me tell you AMAZING! I was on the edge of my seat the entire book and there were so many secrets and twist. I read The Missing Woman in one sitting, I couldn’t put it down. I loved how the book starts with a kidnapping right from the beginning. This book was a fast pace roller coaster and I recommend it to all my thriller loving friends.
This book is absolutely brilliant!
When the town all gathers at their local pool to celebrate the fourth of July, it brings together the women that would usually stay clear of one another. Everyone appears to be enjoying the celebrations, that is - until Sabine goes home to collect something and doesn't return. When her husband goes to find her, he finds the door broken and blood.
The whole neighbour hood begin looking for Sabine, and as we begin to meet the other women, many twists and turns come to light.
This book had me captivated from the first chapter. The authors writing style really pulls you in and has you hanging on their every word, and as the story progresses you are on the edge of your seat.
The end of the book was certainly not what I had expected either, and I love that! It is definitely a thriller that everyone should read.
On the Fourth of July the town gathers at the pool for celebrations and fireworks.
Women from the big house’s and the single women don’t normally mix but today is a day they are all together.
Everybody is enjoying the celebrations until Sabine goes home to get something and doesn’t return . Her husband comes to the pool and seeing his wife is not there goes home to find her but when he gets there the door is broken and there is blood.
The whole neighbourhood is out looking for Sabine but there is no sign of her.
Erica is one of the single mothers with Tish and Amanda .
Tish tells Erica the main suspect is her married lover.
Amanda is the one keeping them upto date on what’s going on about Sabine.
This book kept me reading and I didn’t expect the twist
Another great book
Thanks NetGalley
A really enjoyable read with a great twist that I never saw coming! Told by several characters points of view it tells the story of old friends that lost contact after a heated argument but meet again after many years. Without giving to much of the plot away this story follows a friendship through thick and thin and shows what people will do in the name of friendship
The Missing Woman is a twisty psychological thriller that I couldn’t put down.
Sabine is at the local outdoor swimming pool, lazing around waiting for the 4th July fireworks in the evening to start, she is the local politicians wife and has a life of luxury. Sabine nips home to grab a few things for her and her friends but she never returns. Sabine is missing, torn clothing found in the woods behind their house and blood in the house. Residents help the police to search the area but Sabine is not found. Where did she go and who is responsible for this?
This book I have to be honest started slowly, the first quarter I did think I couldn’t finish it but kept going and boy am I glad I did. The book is like a different one after the first part, it becomes fast paced and so, so twisty. I didn’t get the right person so that was a plus for me, it led me right down the wrong path.
I would like to thank Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC I received in exchange for an honest review.
If ever a book should be made into a movie - this is it!!
Words cannot describe how much I loved this! It’s not often that a book is so captivating that you almost feel part of the story!!
Posh toff Sabine has gone missing - last seen at the local pool! She has the perfect life, with a perfect husband - so who took her? With twists and turns keeping me absolutely on the edge of my seat, my heart is still pounding!! Could not put this down!! Deserves every one of those 5 stars!!
Thank you Netgalley for an ARC of The Missing Woman, in exchange for an honest review.
On the evening of the 4th of July when the community is lounging by the pool and watching fireworks one of their own goes missing. Sabine Miller. is one of the elite forces in the neighborhood but when she heads home early from the festivities and disappears, foul play is suspected, especially when blood and the appearance of a struggle is found at her home. Although they were not friends with the missing woman, Erica and her friends seem to keep getting wrapped up in the investigation.
This is a decent thriller/whodunnit where you don't know who is involved in this woman's disappearance and who is to blame. The ending was forced and rushed which ruined a lot of the potential that this story had. It is an okay read, the pace and storytelling is good but the plot is lacking.
The whole neighbourhood are at the community pool on the 4th July when Sabine, the local politician's wife goes missing. Plenty of twists and turns in this book as everyone in the community falls under suspicion. A great read, I really enjoyed the whole storyline.
My first book read by Georgina but won't be my last
Received this book from Netgalley and publishers in exchange for an honest review
Loved this book that is about a disappearance of a politicians wife. Everyone in the town is out on. the night she disappeared. As she was leaving the pool earlier in the day Sabine gave Erica a strange look and dropped a piece of jewelry.
Erica the woman trying to get to t the bottom of the mystery is a likable character and she has a lot of mystery surrounding herself too. The timeframe in the story shifts from the time she disappeared back into time before Sabine disappeared.
I really enjoy stores where there is a disappearance....ala fictional Dateline. So good and kept me guessing up until the last page. Def recommend.
It's the fourth of July and the whole town is gathered at the local pool. Green Cove is a mixed community where Sabine and her clique live in mansions, having perfect lives. Erica was envious of their lifestyle until Sabine shoots her a desperate look across the water and suddenly disappears. There’s so many secrets and it gets twisty, this was unputdownable and suspenseful! Thank you to Bookouture, the author, and NetGalley for a gifted copy. This is my honest review.
