Are there people with a perfect life? I sometimes wonder. Everything may seem perfect on the outside, but who knows what goes on behind closed doors. Does not everyone have downfalls or things they would love to change? But you know what they say: the grass always seems greener on the other side and grwouldn't you love to be on that side?
Uliet feels she has some unfinished business with Gracie and she has decided now is the time to settle the bill.
Juliet tries to worm her way into Gracie's life. Will she be able to get what she wants?
This is a very twisty thriller and I loved it. I still have to pick my jaw up from the ground because that's so ot what I expected. It was genius though.
In the beginning it was a bit confusing because there was a lot going on, but in the end it all came together in the most supurb way. 5 stars
Thank you
It took me FOREVER to get through this book. Why I didn’t DNF, no idea. This book was pretty boring up until about 90% of the way through. The “investigation” Juliet was conducting was boring, and honestly, uneventful.
The long monologues of both Gracie and Juliet in their heads were so drawn out, it was pages and pages of back and forth. It was mundane and unnecessary to the plot.
What saved this book, giving it a whopping two stars, was the ending and the one and only twist. I most definitely did not see it coming.
While I liked the writing style a lot, this book wasn’t really for me. The end was creative and interesting but it took so long to get there that I didn’t really care by the time we got there.
This was such a great read! I sped through it so quickly and had a hard time putting it down! Would definitely recommend to many friends!
I was given a free ARC for my review on NetGalley. This was a enjoyable and unpredictable thriller thought the characters were very well-written and multi-faceted.
DNF - Did not finish. I did not connect with the writing style or plot and will not be finishing this title. Thank you, NetGalley and Publisher for the early copy!
Thank you Netgalley and publisher for opportunity to read and review this ARC with my honest feedback.
The synopsis of the book hooked me, however the story was slow to start. The characters were well developed and I was invested in their outcome. Overall I enjoyed the book and would recommend to others as a psychological thriller.
Started out good, got a bit slow, and harder to get back into. But overall a good book worth reading. Thanks to the author, the publisher, and Netgalley for allowing me to review.
Full review to come on Instagram and Amazon. Thank you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for a review copy.
This is a very slow moving psychological thriller. The first part of the book I found to be very boring and hard to follow. I am not a big fan of slow moving thrillers, so the fact this is a very slow moving I think may it boring for me. I did not find the twist very good. I ending up not caring about the characters and the storylines. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Harper) or author (Sam Hepburn) via NetGalley, so I can give honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.
If something seems to good to be true, it most probably is..... this is very wise words that is very applicable to this book. If it seems like your neighbor has the perfect life.... sometimes its not all what it seems like! The book was very enjoyable, and recommended.
Gracie and Juliet are polar opposites. Gracie has her life all put together: the family, the home, the career all in place and more than anyone could wish for. Juliet on the other hand is barely managing to scrape by as she raises her daughter on her own. Yet somehow Gracie and Juliet become unlikely friends. Is Gracie's life really as perfect as it seems, and what will happen to their relationship as cracks begin to form?
I liked but didn't love this one. I love psychological thrillers in general, and I did love all of the sneaking around Juliet was doing. It was definitely a thrill wondering if she was going to get caught or how this was going to end up going very badly in the end.
But in the actual end... the conclusion just seemed rushed. The whole book seemed so methodical in everything that was carefully planned out and then I guess the ending just seemed too easy to me, and not what I was expecting (but not in a good way). Enjoyable, but not a favorite.
Gracie has the perfect life ... a terrific husband, a well-loved child, a beautiful home overlooking the water.
Juliet should have had the same life. Instead, she's living in a run-down apartment with her 5-year-old daughter .. the daughter her ex-husband is trying to take away.
When Gracie moves a short distance away, Juliet seizes an opportunity to get close to Her. After all, if things go wrong in Gracie's life, wouldn't she want her new friend close? Because no one’s life is really that perfect—and sometimes all it takes is a little push to expose the darkest of secrets…
The story line is a good one ... the suspense is low key. There are twists and turns, but nothing major and the conclusion was a bit muddled. This was just an okay read for me.
Her Perfect Life by Sam Hepburn is one seriously twisty psychological thriller.
Gracie Dywer has everything she could ever dream of. She has a gorgeous home, a wonderful job, a handsome husband, a beautiful albeit spoiled daughter and a new bestie. Juliet on the other hand lives a lackluster life. She is a single mother struggling to make ends meet and is willing to do ANYTHING to change that.
Things are never truly as perfect as they seem though are they? Just how far would someone be willing to go to have and to keep the perfect life? In Her Perfect Life perfection turns deadly as these two unlikely friends manipulate their way into each others lives.
Her Perfect Life is definitely a slow building psychological thriller but I think its definitely worth a read. It incorporates many of the "hot" topics often found in thrillers with a focus on toxic friendship which I personally loved. While I had an idea of where the twist was headed I was still left pleasantly surprised by the big reveal at the end!
Thank you Bookouture for having me as part of this blog tour.I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
Meet Grace - successful , rich , handsome husband , beautiful little girl … you get the drift ! In comes Juliet - struggling single mom with an agenda ! You see years ago - she had had a meeting of sort with Grace and was hoping to get a job ! However She never heard back from her and Juliet has held on to resentment for years ! Chance meeting had the two women meeting up again - and Juliet managed to infiltrate herself into Juliet’s perfect life !!!!
You know that when two women are involved - drama is sure to follow ! This is so well written that I , in turn dialled Juliet then Grace!
When the truth about the past comes to light - your head will spin !! One of these women has a black heart and an evil soul - question is … which one ? The ending left me with my jaw to the floor / thank you so much @netgalley and the publisher for this crazy ride ! As far as psychological thrillers go - this one hit all the right spots !!!!! Can not wait to grab another by this author !
I received an eARC of Her Perfect Life by Sam Hepburn from Bookoutre and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review, Thank you!
4 stars! This isn't a fast-paced thriller, but it was an intriguing read nonetheless. It's a story about a woman (Gracie) who seemingly has a perfect life and another (Juliet) who is barely scraping by. Juliet is jealous of Gracie. Clever twists and an ending that ties all the pieces together nicely. I definitely recommend this book.
Gracie had everything in life, family and career. And Juliet seemed to be struggling. Both the characters took time to thaw me out. The book was slow to start but soon picked up speed in the second half. The author had plugged in a lot of themes of lies and jealousy. And the twists and turns made them exciting. The ending as per the norm was explosive. Overall, I enjoyed the time spent on this book.
Her Perfect Life was gripping from the beginning and in the end. The middle took me awhile to get through but it did make me want to keep reading. Envy and greed are never a good combination. I am a huge fan of Sam Hepburn.
