Jack and Annie have found the most epic tree house in the local woods. Once they climb in, the discover it is full of books. Together, Jack and Annie look at them until one of them makes a wish over a dinosaur book. Thus begins this adaption of the first Magic Tree House title Dinosaurs Before Dark.

I've read the original, but it's been so long that I don't remember much from it. It's a series that I see checked out by adults reading to preschoolers to newly independent readers. The chapter books go out so much! So I immediately jumped on getting this for the library when I saw it was coming out.

It does not disappoint. The art is bright. The action quick. The text well sized and well written. I doubt I'd hand this off to caregivers reading to preschoolers, but readers needing something a little tougher than an ER will love this. Overall, it's a fantastic comic that old fans and new fans will reach for. Who knows? Maybe new readers will be inspired to give the chapter books a go. A must have GN series.

These books are a great bridge into chapter books. They are appealing, well-done and great for young readers who want to read graphic novels, but are not quite ready for some of the GNs that are out there.

A great graphic adaptation of an early chapter book series that has stood the test of time. These will be very popular with children that love the chapter books and reluctant readers.

Dinosaurs before Dark is the first book in the Magic Treehouse graphic novel series. Jack and Annie find a treehouse in the woods, and climb inside. It is filled with books. When Jack picks up a Dinosaur book and wishes he could see them, the treehouse begins to spin and they are whisked into the past, where they meet and learn about dinosaurs of different kinds.

This is a fantastic Children's graphic novel with cute and colorful illustrations that any child will love. Children will learn about dinosaurs while also experiencing a time travel adventure with Jack and Annie. The story is interesting and even as an adult, I loved it. I plan to purchase this series for my grandson. You can't get any higher praise than that.

Thank you to Netgalley for the Advanced readers copy! This is such a great adaptation of the classic first Magic Tree House. I was really glad to see it was a faithful adaptation. Jack and Annie look just like the so in the chapter book images. The thing that was most striking to this book was the color work. It is so vibrant! even more so than many other middle grade graphic novels. It really brings readers in and evokes the time period that Jack and Annie find themselves in.
I am so excited to give this to my reluctant readers and my emergent readers who might really enjoy this series but are not quite ready for the full text version. I will also definitely buy future books that come out in graphic novel format. This is going to be a real hit.

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House for the opportunity to review this advanced copy of the Dinosaurs Before Dark graphic novel. Featuring lovely art that stays true to the cautious and nerdy character of Jack and the irrepressible and action-oriented Annie, the Dinosaurs Before Dark graphic novel is sure to be appreciated by Magic Tree House fans and new readers alike. Looking forward to other graphic novel versions on these classic series.

This is a very faithful adaptation of the original book. This series will be good for those readers who are already fans of Jack and Annie or who may need the scaffolding from more illustrations. The art work is bright and colorful and a nice compliment to the story.

This is a really good and faithful adaptation of the first book of Mary Pope Osborne's classic early chapter series The Magic Treehouse. Compared to the novel, the graphic novel might not have quite the character development, but there is enough to have readers connect to Jack and Annie and readers should enjoy the adventures they find themselves in. This is well suited to early readers and could be a springboard for the novels and non-fiction books in the series, or just a really good read.

This is a fun graphic novel version of the first in the series of the much-beloved children's series. The illustrations are colorful and clear and the story is just as fun as the chapter book version. This is a great way to introduce the original chapter book version to reluctant readers and also a fun re-reading for fans of the series!

Thank you NetGalley and Random House for this advanced reader copy!

I really enjoyed this graphic novel adaptation of the first book in the Magic Tree House series. I thought the artwork was beautiful and really told the story well. I particularly liked how some of the panels overlapped and some of the characters broke out of their frames. I could tell that the illustrators really enjoyed playing around with the way the story was presented through the panels. I also thought the text that was included cut to the heart of the story and focused on the most important parts. The Magic Tree House series often serves as a bridge to chapter books for children as they become more independent readers and, I think the graphic novel adaptations of these books will serve an additional purpose. For kids who might not feel quite as comfortable with the the amount of text on the page of the chapter books, the graphic novels can introduce them to the story in a more non-threatening way, thus potentially making them more willing to try the chapter books afterwards, since they will already have familiarity with the story. I will definitely be purchasing this title, and any others that follow, for my library.

This was delightful and perfect for readers who want to read the Magic Treehouse Series but aren't able to yet. Jack's face is done so perfectly, and Annie acts just like you would expect. The story is still the same, the information is still conveyed, but it opens the series to more kids. Great artwork, great story, love it.

A well-done graphic novel version of the "classic" first book of the Magic Tree House series. (Yes, it is now a classic. It came out in 1992 - almost 30 years ago. While I'm not sure the writing is classic, the concept certainly is!) This will serve as a transition to the idea of chapter books, as well as an entree into the much loved series.

I absolutely loved the Magic Tree House books when I was a kid so I was thrilled and intrigued when I saw that a new graphic novel version was coming out. I think it’s such a great idea – the series really lends itself to being illustrated in this way and it opens it up to a whole new audience of readers who may not have picked up the books otherwise.

Reading this was a really fun and nostalgic trip back to my childhood and I’m looking forward to sharing with these adventures one day with the children in my life.
