When I requested this e-arc, I honestly wondered if I was too old for Kasie West’s wholesome romances but I was wrong! It was such a delight to take a break from fantasy and adult romance for a while. This was super cute and I couldn’t put it down! Perfect summer read for anyone looking for a sweet romance.

Man, I think reading outside in the summer is my all-time favorite activity. Slather on the sunscreen and I can read all day. Kasie West never fails for easy, predictable and fun summer reads. Sunkissed is her newest released and it gave everythign it promised.

Avery and her sister Lauren are "forced" on a 2 month family trip to a remote cabin in the woods. No wifi, no cell service and 2 months of family fun.

Luckily there are staff at the wooden resort that make for an entertaining stay. Avery decides to stop being so darn predictable and it is an easier job when brooding and handsome Brooks is around.

I read this one quickly over the weekend and it was perfect for a warm summer day. Take it to the beach or float in the pool. The sunburn, or sunkiss as Brooks would say, is worth it

Sunkissed was my first Kasie West novel - I have a few girls in my classroom who devoured everything by her so when I had the opportunity to see what all the buzz was about, I took it! Avery and her sister head off to camp for the summer, and it is exactly the teen beach read my students are hoping for. There are ups and downs, cute guys and a couple twists and turns. I flew through it and am looking forward to her next tale. Thanks to #NetGalley for the opportunity to preview #Sunkissed by Kasie West. I enjoyed the escape!

DNF at 51%. I have no idea why but this book has not been working for me. I don’t care about anyone and find most of the characters irritating. I usually love a campground setting and Kasie West’s books so this really sucks lol. Every time I pick this up to try again I read like 2 pages and remember how little I care, unfortunately. I just have to call it quits.

Kasie West is at it again with another romance that will bring feeling, laughter, and tons of angst. Honestly, this is one of the better books by the author I have read lately. The past few haven't been my favorite but the characters in this book are well done and have substance.
The plot was cute and had all of the needed parts. I enjoyed the main character growing and trying new things.

Sunkissed is the perfect summer-themed book to pick up that’s light-hearted, makes you swoon, and has a cute romance. (Summer’s just around the corner so this book couldn’t have come out at a better time!)

The story follows Avery, who’s about to start her senior year after the summer, as she’s forced to spend the summer at family camp with her parents and sister. Turns out, it’s not as bad as she thought it would be.

I love all of Kasie West’s romances, maybe it’s the way she thinks or the way she’s able to put her feelings and ideas into words but they always have me wanting more. (Whether it was By Your Side, PS I Like You, Maybe This Time, etc.) You’d think that there’s only so many amazing romances that one author can come up with before they’re not as original anymore but you’d be wrong because Kasie West does it every time. I think Sunkissed might be one of my favorite books by her so far.

Although we didn’t focus much on Avery’s parents or sister, most of the focus was on the romance in terms of characters, I truly loved the characters, they were cute and really likable. And I absolutely adored the setting of the book. It made me wish I could go to a family camp with summer and the sun, a lake and an adorable romance. I love when light-hearted books have an equal balance between the light-heartedness and a self discovery/ breaking out of your shell kind of theme and this book absolutely nailed it.

All in all, incase I haven’t said it enough times yet, I ADORED this book, it was the perfect mix of everything, had wonderful characters, an adorable romance and a very relatable protagonist. I’d 100% recommend this book to anyone and everyone.

I enjoyed the setting but wonder, since I'm not in the target demographic anymore, if I don't feel that connected to the teen experience.

I really enjoyed the blossoming romance between Avery and Brooks. I think many teens will love this book!

3.5/5 stars. Another cute contemporary from Kasie West. This author’s books are always hit or miss for me. I don’t think this was even close to my favorite of hers that I’ve read, but it was leagues better than my least favorite. Avery is a very relatable protagonist, and while the love interest in this one wasn’t my favorite, he’ll do. I just wish we got more on his backstory. Brooks has a lot of troubles at home and it seemed like they were just there to make a flat character seem like he had more dimension rather than actually playing a role in the story.

Sunkissed by Kasie West

“Sometimes staying in the box we’ve made for ourselves is so easy. It’s comfortable and familiar in there. And a lot of times, the people around us want us to stay in there too because that’s how they’ve always known us. in that box.”

To say I loved this book would be an understatement. It was sweet, swoony, relatable, and was just an all around perfect read.

This book was more than just about Avery and her sister unplugging for the summer though. It was about Avery finally being able to stand up for herself which made it so much more enjoyable to read.

Nowadays, empowering and appropriate YA books are really hard to find, but Sunkissed is one that I’ll be adding to my classroom and personal library. Although I do teach 5th and 6th grade which is a little young for this book, I’ll still be recommending this one to my older kiddos.

I listened to a portion of the audiobook and equally loved it that way too. The narrator was fantastic and really fit the characters.

Either way that you read this book, you can’t go wrong. Kasie West is now on my radar for not only me personally, but also as a teacher.

Thank you NetGalley and Delacorte Press for the opportunity to read and review this book in return for an honest review!

Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️(5)/5

Once again, Katie West does NOT disappoint!! I loved reading about Avery’s journey, as well as her romance with Brooks, AS WELL AS her relationships with her family members. It was so well written, and I enjoyed every moment of it! An absolute recommend for any YA romance fan!

It’s funny, I never really read young adult contemporary fiction before I started doing blog tours, and it turns out some of them have been such great reads that I wish I’d started doing it earlier! Sunkissed is a book I probably wouldn’t have picked up without prompting, and it was so much fun, I’m so glad I did.

Stuck in a world of no internet, in a lodge with her sister and parents, Avery is tired of being described as predictable. Dealing with heartbreak and facing no way to communicate with those that had hurt her, she ends up striking a deal with Brooks; she’ll help him with his song writing, and he’ll help her push through her boundaries.

It was a really adorable story, full of fun and sincere kindness, between family members and newly made friends. There were natural ups and downs, but no downs big enough to override the happiness of the story. It was a comfy, cosy, fun read that really made me ready for summer.

Although somewhat predictable, that didn’t take away from the enjoyment of what I was reading, and I’d quite like to book myself in for a two month holiday with plenty of activities availible, and a stack of books to read!

What a cute young adult book! My daughters used to love books by Kasie West and sadly, they have outgrown them now but I still pick them up and read them when I can because I think this author does a great job of spinning a relevant story that teenagers can relate to and enjoy. There are struggles typical to teenagers and sometimes bigger issues but those issues never become overwhelming or depressing. The story remains upbeat and positive for the most part which I think is so important.

I really liked the summer family camp setting of this book and I liked the whole cast of characters. They were fun and they made fun happen. It made me smile. Avery has a great journey of self discovery which was satisfying and enjoyable. It was so easy to root for her. This is easily a book I can recommend for teenage girls. Sweet romance.

I absolutely love Kasie West and her books - they are the perfect ray of sunshine in my reading schedule! This book had just the perfect amount of drama combined with a fun, summer plot and the title couldn't have been more fitting. I can not wait for whatever she writes next! Thank you for the early copy!

Thank you Delacorte Press at Random House Children’s for the eARC via netgalley.

Avery is ready to get away. After her best friend betrays her trust she just needs some time to get away from everything back home. However the summer plan her parents have in mind is not quite what she wanted. When her parents decide on a two month family summer camp, Avery is not too excited by this prospect. However things do begin to pick up as Avery meets new people, makes new friendships, and opens herself up to trying new things.

Overall this book was okay. I enjoyed this book fairly well, but it was not a new favorite for me or anything. I really enjoyed reading about a family camp setting. I will add that I wish we saw the family interacting together a bit more, but I will say that seeing the sister relationship grow better throughout the book was nice.

I really enjoyed the friendships in this book. I also loved seeing Avery gradually grow more confident and make relationships with others. The romance was okay in this, but I enjoyed the other elements more. I would say that this book would be a good summer read. I think that young readers would really enjoy this book.

I love Kasie West and this one is another hit! I love the summer time theme but also that this book was not just about the boy/girl relationship but also about the relationship between sisters. I was easily hooked to the characters and enjoyed watching as the main character discovered who she was and what she really wanted instead of trying to keep everyone else happy.

This new Kasie West book was a miss for me. I don't know why I picked it up considering the last four books by her that I read was misses. for me. However I still think that are great summer reads for teens. And the majority of teens will enjoy this book.

Thank you so much @DelacortePress, @GetUnderlined & @NetGalley for giving me this physical ARC in exchange for my honest and unbiased review (Release Date | 04 May 2021)

SYNOPSIS | After being betrayed by her best friend, Avery is hoping for a picture-perfect summer. However, her parents have other plans & decide to take their summer vacation at a remote family camp. Avery has to survive with no internet, a cute but off-limits staff member & an always-in-her-face sister.

WHAT I LIKED:
- the development between Avery & her little sister
- the atmosphere of the summer camp

WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE:
- the relationship felt very surface level & I just couldn't get invested
- I wasn't that interested in the whole music competition subplot & once that started to get more of the focus, the actual summer camp setting just slipped away
- none of the characters really stood out to me (I can't even remember the main love interests name now)

I received a free digital Advanced Reading Copy of this book through Net Galley. A fun, light summer read for fans of Morgan Matson. I will definitely be checking out the authors other books and purchasing them for my library.

Who doesn't love Kasie West? Her books are always so cute. And this isn't different.

Avery spends the summer at a camp with her family. Her boyfriend just cheated on her with her best friend. Her sister is addicted to social media. This is about to be a long summer. That is until she meets a band.

And by band I mean a boy, Brooks. They obviously have a thing for each other and then it becomes more later on (I can't spoil it but read it!).

I loved this book. Filled with summer, boys, drama, the perfect summer romance novel.

This title reminds me of Dirty Dancing meets Breathless by Jennifer Niven. This was my first Kasie West book, and it did not disappoint. A lovely Ya rom-com with the depth of Niven and the campiness of Dirty Dancing. I loved the summer camp setting and the relationship between all of the characters. Avery is a loveable main character and her relationship with her family, though difficult, is what really drives this story.
