This book was great!! One of the Best I read this year. Love how this author can tell a story from different POVs and You can understand how every character experience the same event in a differen way, love the drama and intrigue here and the tension. Short and twisty and LOVED the last line loved it!
Great book. Highly recommend and will most defiantly read more by this author and suggest to others!
A suspense book about a couple, Skye and Joe, who becomes involved in another couple’s, Brad and Maggie, lives through deception. They are scam artists. Brad is a marriage counselor and Maggie is a home staging decorator. They are financially successful. Skye and Joe join Brad and Maggie in their vacation home. This story is about relationships, adultery, murder, extortion, and much more. Each chapter is written from a character’s perspective, so the reader understands the actions taken and the character’s thoughts. The twists and turns the story takes keeps the reader on their toes. It just goes deeper and deeper and deeper. I liked the book very much and didn’t predict the ending!
Thank you to Netgalley and the book’s publisher, Inkubator Books, for an advanced reader’s copy. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Thank you to Netgalley and the author for allowing me to read this!
Very Solid read. I was instantly intrigued by the synopsis of this book. This book instantly drew me in, I got to explore through the eyes of our main character and this is always my favorite way to discover these details of the story and, it was done very well in this book. I really enjoyed this book and the plot. This author did amazing. I loved the writing style.
A compelling story with a twist you’ll never see coming. It tells the story of secrets and lies and relationships being very complex. 5/5. Loved this!
Thank you to netgalley and publisher for opportunity to read and review this Arc honestly.
I judge a book by its cover, it's what draws me in and this one did that. The book starts out strong and I became heavily invested quickly. The characters were believable and flawed and I liked that the story wasn't repetitive like many novels seem to be lately. The overall plot was good and I enjoyed the ending. I feel about halfway through it did slow down a bit for me but I was still intrigued enough to continue and see what happens. I'll definitely read more by this author.
Wow, even a vacation can turn out to be a deadly event. The book was very well written, and kept me entertained until the end. Recommended.
Maggie and Brad are on vacation trying to reconnect after drifting apart from each other. Skye and Joe are a couple who run scams that include theft and when possible, blackmail of unsuspecting couples. Pay up and your secrets will stay safe, simple isn’t it? A good, twisted read.
The Other Couple is a good read full of twist and turns. It literally had me guessing right until the end. What a page turner!
3.25 rating. Maggie and Brad are spending some time on holiday in Lake Tahoe, to have “conversations”. Unfortunately for them they have been chosen by two con artists Joe and Skye. Would anyone let a pair of strangers join them in their rented house?? All 4 of them are loathsome and all 4 have points of view. The book started off well but soon became predictable and therefore not at all “thrilling”. I did expect a much better ending than the one we were given - very disappointing. It was readable, engaging apart from Brad’s sections which I skimmed. A light holiday read.
This is my first book by this author. Wow, what a great edge of your seat read!! I could not put it down! About half way through the book, I thought I knew what the outcome would be, but I was wrong! What an intriguing, suspenseful book!! Can't wait to read more books by this author!!
I received an eARC of The Other Couple by Cathryn Grant from Inkubator Books and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!
3 stars! An engaging thriller told from 4 different perspectives about a married couple on vacation inviting in a couple of con artists. The story was far-fetched, but it was a decent read overall.

Recommended to readers who like unreliable and multiple narrators with twists you don’t see coming.
Sipping thoughts: And the academy award for the most unlikable group of characters in a thriller goes to….Man I did not like one character in this book making The Other Couple THAT much better! I loved reading the synopsis for this book and was like “oh my how is this going to pan out.” Grant did not disappoint. I could not even guess the twists and turns this book was going to throw at me. Admittedly, I could see two twists coming but as your mind is waiting on those to happen you don’t see the ones slowly creeping up. I do not know why I haven’t seen or heard this book pop up in my social media book clubs but I suggest you try this book. It was a thrilling, engaging book in my opinion.
Cheers and thank you to @NetGalley, @cathryngrant_fiction and @InkubatorBooks for an advanced copy of @TheOtherCouple

Not my typical genre to read but I enjoyed it. Was a bit slower to begin with but I liked the mystery and thriller themes within the story. I would recommend if you like those elements.
The Other Couple is suspenseful, thrilling and overall interesting. Some parts of the book contained abuse and it made me a little uncomfortable. I think that is a positive to the book and the author. This book was a page turner and left me a little stunned with the ending.
Whoa! What an ending! This book is full of twists and just when you think you have it all figured out. - you don't.
I couldn't put this book down. The characters & plot were realistic. Would recommend this book to everyone!
Maggie and Brad are on vacation at Lake Tahoe when they meet another couple, Skye and Joe. The four hit it off so well that Maggie invites their new friends to share her beautiful lakeside rental.
What she doesn’t realize is Skye and Joe aren’t just some random couple. They have been watching Maggie and Brad, have chosen them carefully….
And now, when they discover that Maggie has a secret which could destroy her marriage, they start turning the screws, pushing their own sinister agenda. But have they selected their victim wisely? Or does Maggie also have a dark side?
As the pressure builds, what should have been a dream vacation begins to look more like the inner circle of hell. Before it’s over all four will be changed forever – and at least one of them will be dead…
This is definitely a book that's hard to categorise, and if I'm completely honest I don't really know what to make of this one. I've never read anything by the author before, but I'm all about new experiences, and it sounded like an interesting read. And it was! But it's definitely a book that's hard to describe. I think for me the thing I found strange was the tone
"The Other Couple" is an enjoyable read with an exciting premise: Skye and Joe are a conning couple who insinuate themselves into the lives of Maggie and Brad, another couple on vacation at Lake Tahoe. We get a glimpse into the mind of each character, because the chapters are all narrated in the first person, but by different characters interchangeably, so we realize pretty early that they each have an agenda of their own. One of the strengths of the novel is that those switches are done smoothly and convincingly, so we are genuinely shown the same events from different points of view.
The characters are also written very well, their reactions to things, weaknesses, thoughts, acts are mostly explored in great depth. There is a spoiler (that I’m not going to name) that the book itself gives away unintentionally, but it is one that can be missed and doesn’t spoil the reading pleasure very much. The twists at the end are jaw-dropping and the ending itself leaves you wanting more.
For the most part, the story takes place in or around the lake house that Maggie and Brad rent every summer, or on their boat, which lends the events that take place an additional air of claustrophobia and uneasiness. It’s a great exploration of human nature and the lengths people go to in order to avoid the things they fear and get the things they want, complete with thrills and chills. I also really like the title, because looking at things from one’s own perspective, embedded in a situation we may take for granted, it’s always the others who are “the other couple”, i.e. for Skye and Joe, Maggie and Brad are the other couple and vice versa.
This is the second novel by Cathryn Grant I’ve read (the first being The Good Mother), and both are really solid thrillers, so I definitely look forward to reading more of her books.
Not a bad thriller. Two couples meet with one of the couples wanting to make some quick money. Some of the twists were somewhat predictable but I didn’t see the ending coming. I would recommend it to a friend for some light reading.
