When Sharks Attack With Kindness is a wholesome collection of short comics following a shark and his deep sea friends and they go on there daily adventures and spread optimisation throughout the whole ocean.
I honestly don’t believe that I have come across a collection of comics or short storys more heart warming and uplifting than these. The artwork is adorable and fits in with the cute theme running throughout the book. There is even the bonus of a playlist QR given at the very end of the book. It’s extremely easy reading, but at the same time it will put even the grumpiest person in a happy mood as the characters are just so easy to fall in love with and will stick with you for a long time post-book. I personally feel that with all the negativity going around the world right now, this book is perfect to snuggle up for 20 minutes with a hot drink and just escape to somewhere more pleasant and peaceful.
An adorable, heartfelt collection of comics about a shark and his friends, who go through life being kind to one another and spreading happiness wherever they go. 2021 is barely a month in and it's already been terrible, so these wholesome undersea comics are just the thing everybody needs right now. Earth is such a beautiful place, because it's where we live, everyone. It's where we live <3
I absolutely loved this book. The comics in this book were truly uplifting and I had a smile on my face throughout the entire thing. Some of the comics also made me laugh out loud which I was not expecting. I cannot recommend this book enough.
This was a short and cute read and I really liked the art style, but overall it was not very memorable.

This book caught my attention by this description: "Cute, clever, and comically ingenious, Andrés Colmenares’ popular shark comics are a sweet, sincere tonic for these anxious, troubled times." And these comics were indeed very cute. Some of them were also very funny. I also felt like some of the jokes went over my head, but I think that's where my Dutch language barrier came in, unfortunately!
All with all, funny, a lot of underwater pun-jokes, so if you like jokes with a pun, this book is for sure for you. I liked in the end they mentioned an audio experience to make it all better, but I would next time put this in the beginning of the book instead of the end.
If you are looking for a comic series about love, kindness, friendship, and positivity, look no further than this one. This adorably bright and happy book follows sea creatures and a "sea human" in their day to day and the kindness and love they share with each other. It is so cute and inspiring and I loved every single strip and spread. Some pages were interactive and there were pages to introduce all the animals that would be throughout the book.
It will hit you right in the feels with every page turn. I won't give specifics because I really don't want to spoil anyone's experience with this book. It is worth a look, a flip through, and a read and a few times when you need some happy in your life. This was a good time for this book to be released and I hop that everyone enjoys it as much as I did.
Review will be live on February 25, closer to release date.
This collection was relentlessly nice and for that reason I feel sort of bad I didn't like it. It was incredibly, relentlessly nice and compassionate, in the same neighborhood as Mr. Rogers. But unlike Mr. Rogers, this collection felt like it was devoted to erasing the bad things and and feelings that happen in life as quickly as possible. I loved the positivity, but I don't automatically feel better when my friends or family give me a hug. Positivity and kindness and compassion help by acknowledging the pain and hurt and sadness and working to comfort and fix the underlying causes, not by trying to paper over and push down bad feelings as quickly as possible. These cartoons were very cutely drawn and did have a positive message, but it felt like there was no substance or honesty behind them.
So cute and really nice comics. Really nice to have collection of these if you follow or have seen these on Instagram.
Andrés J Colmenares is a wonderful artist and this book is a celebration of not only that art but also love and friendship. This is the perfect book when you need a gift for a friend or gift for yourself. The comics will make you laugh, and aww, and want to start attacking life with kindness.
When Sharks Attack with Kindness had me laughing from beginning to end. With each page, Colmenares brings hope to the reader, showing the little ways that we can all show kindness to one another. While we may not be able to pose as a tie for our friends when they go to an interview, or every day at work, the sweet moments shown in this short book will give you the encouragement to remember the little things in life that can help others, or even make you feel better. Perfect for Strange Planet fans and animal lovers, When Sharks Attack with Kindness will be sure to bring a smile to anyone's face.
A wonderful, uplifting picture book not limited to children. I found myself smiling the entire way through and particularly admired the interactive portion at the end for music ambiance. 10/10 recommend for everyone who needs a pick-me-up or just wants to have a smile :)
DISCLAIMER: I am a Wawawiwa fan
Andrés Colmenares (for the first time in English) comes up with a beautiful product filled not only with his amazingly cute designs but also with so much wisdom that it will make reading this compilation a life lessons session with lots of kindness.
A cast of perfectly cure sea creatures will take you, hand in hand, through the discovery of the small things you can do to have a perfect life for you and for those that surround you.
Are you ready to attack the world with kindness?

Oh my goodness! I think this is the cutest and sweetest thing I've ever read! It talks about friendship and kindness and it focuses on creatures from the sea. The shark ones are my favorite. Super cute!!

I chose to read this book as the cover was so sweet and colourful, and I'm so glad I did. It's a brilliant little book filled with pages and pages of cute images with positive life messages. The artwork is beautiful.
There are lots of shark 'friends' in the images, such as narwhal, penguins, clownfish, whales, catfish, electric eels, and all the pages me smile, with some even making me giggle. I loved it!
It deals with topics of loneliness, friendships, helpfulness and love,
Defintiely a tonic for everything going on in the world right now! Very heartwarming.

OH MY GOD, HOW CUTE! I can't believe that this book is this cute, I LOVE IT! The illustrations, the friendships, the jokes, everything! All about this was so perfect that I have no words. I love it beyond words and I can't wait to hold this one in my hands, really! Everyone should read it!
SO CUTE. I stumbled on this Instagram the other day and was so excited to see the new book on NetGalley--thanks for the ARC :)
This is exactly what we all need right now as the world turns upside down--some wholesome happiness to make us all smile.
This book was amazing, adorable, aesthetic and at least five other adjectives that start with A (amusing, amiable, alacritous…). My partner and I were talking about it for hours after we finished it. It’s a collection of humorous and clever 1-3 page comics about kindness, friendship, and sea creatures. This book really has something for everyone who doesn’t hate friendship. I can’t begin to tell you which were my favorite comics; they were all so good that I’ve already preordered a physical copy. This is definitely a collection worth owning and revisiting.
I can't describe how comforting and heart warming this book was. It filled me with such happiness and I smiled the entire time I was reading it and felt really... good. The art is beautiful and the stories are funny and this is definitely something people of all ages can enjoy.
Rating: 5/5 stars.
“When Sharks Attack With Kindness” is a heart-warming collection of comics featuring adorable oceanic characters. It is suitable to be enjoyed by all audiences, be it a caregiver reading to a child, or an adult looking for a cute book to relax with.
In these trying times, it can be hard to find a reason to smile. Every comic in this book gives one. A main theme overall is that the smallest positive actions can have large ripple effects. What might seem small and unimportant to one, can have such a large, positive effect on another. Another resounding theme is the importance of friendship, and how two beings, even if very different, can find ways to bond together, despite physical space. These themes are ever more relevant in the world today.
I had seen some of the comics by the author before circulating on the Internet, but was not sure of the source. Now that I know, I have followed him on social media to get more daily doses of joy and positivity. Every page of this book had me laughing, smiling, and feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. Mix that with the most charming little sharks in all the seas… what’s not to love?
