I completely agree with the premise of this book that all of the Gospel applies to every moment of our lives. I both liked and disliked this book. The author amusingly gives us several instances in her life where something funny, unusual, upsetting, or mundane happened to her, and she saw the Gospel at work in those situations and provides supporting Scriptures. She then asks a few questions to help readers make similar applications to their own lives. But I personally was hoping for something more in-depth and theologically grounded. At times the book felt like a comedy routine with Scriptures sprinkled over the top. I think this book would be great for someone relatively new to the faith or someone who had never really considered how the Gospel applies to all areas of our lives. At this point in my life, however, I needed more meat and less milk. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the ebook. Highly recommend for all Christian's out there.

I am reviewing a copy of Life: An Obsessively Grateful, Undone by Jesus, Genuinely Happy, and Not Faking it Through the Hard Stuff Kind of 100-Day Devotional through B&H Publishing and Netgalley:
Do you ever find yourself wondering if the Gospel is truly good news for your actual, everyday, often difficult, sometimes painful, and typically crazy real life? Well, it is. But sometimes we all need a reminder that God's faithfulness really does follow us into the face of all that harried, hard, and even humorous stuff of life.
Lisa Harper gives her readers a gut-level exploration of pertinent and redemptive moments in Scripture that prove God’s grace is more than sufficient for both the massive and the minuscule things of life: In her devotional Life.
The gospel is more than enough to handle everything whether it be personal loss, ongoing trauma, global crisis, or simply a super bad hair day, the Gospel is more than enough to handle everything, so dive into Life and find some tangible hope for yours!
I give Life five out of five stars!
Happy Reading!
What a great devotional. Lisa Harper has a way of getting God’s Word into your heart. I love to hear her speak and read her books and devotional. This is a daily devotional with excellent titles like “When your spiritual tutor is a toilet” and “Shoo Fly, Shoo”. This is a great pick me up devotional for when your not having a good day or need a little pick me up. It is full of encouragement and would be an excellent gift for a friend.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.
I love Lisa Harper, and I love to listen to her speak. I find her inspirational. On that note, I really didn't care much for this book. I thought it would sound like she does when she speaks. I was wrong. Sadly,. I really didn't get much from it at all. I know that there will be others that will. So, I encourage you to try it for yourself.
LOVE!! LOVE!! LOVE!! In this book, we gain soo much from Lisa as she teaches and encourages us using real-life examples.
A beautiful devotional laced with relatable yet humor filled entries sure to make your day all of which point you back to God's unconditional love towards you and i.
I was expecting more to Life by Lisa Harper because of the bible studies I have so enjoyed from her. The stories in this book were sweet, funny & relatable but I was expecting more "meat" to the devotional aspect of the book. Glad I read it and look forward to whatever else Lisa Harper writes in the future.
I was given a copy of this book by NetGalley to read and review, Thank You!
This book contains several short devotionals. Each one only takes a few minutes to read, but there is a short Bible passage, a reflection, and a question to consider. I enjoyed Lisa Harper's writing. She shares real life stories - some thought-provoking and some humorous - and relates them to biblical truth. The book is a light and enjoyable read, but there is also a point to the stories, helping the reader to see how the truths of the Bible apply to life.
Lisa Harper is a vibrant Southern Belle whose personality shines through this 100-day devotional. Sharing personal stories, life lessons, and encouragement, Lisa’s transparent writing will resonate with a variety of readers, brightening their mornings with her humor, depth, and refreshing outlook on life’s struggles. Beginning each entry with scripture and ending with a series of questions, I found LIFE the perfect base for my morning Bible studies. Like most devotionals, some days resonate with me more than others, but one constant was Lisa’s inspiring love that poured onto each page. This is a great devotional for those looking to take a closer look at their lives and place God at the center!
What a breath of fresh air! This book is so hilarious, authentic, genuine raw, real and filled with so much truth and power!
Lisa Harper has a gift of storytelling. Her humor mixed with real life struggles is the perfect combination. Lisa had me thinking a lot about how we are taught about happiness and how most of us think happiness is a worldly thing. Instead Lisa guides us through examples of how happiness is actually apart of walking with God. This book of devotionals was AMAZING!!
Lisa Harper was the first Bible study I did at my new church, 8 years ago. So she holds a special place in my heart for helping me build relationships with new friends. In my mind she can do no wrong with her books and this study is no exception. I really hope she comes out with a video series for it, because now I'm looking to lead my own study and this would just be perfect!
I love this author’s writing style. She combines inspiration and humor, along with some solid Biblical observations that can be at times either encouraging or convicting. I enjoyed reading the author’s stories about her own life and the lessons she’s learned along the way. These devotions aren’t a deep Bible study, but a way to remind us that in all seasons of life, God is there for us. While I didn’t necessarily agree with every one of her conclusions, I’m glad I read these uplifting and faithful devotions.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
Life by Lisa Harper is a great devotional. In this devotional along with the other books I have read by this author, I have really appreciated her humor and transparency. She is able to take a funny story about herself or her daughter or some other aspect of life and turn it into words of wisdom that all need to hear. She is very educated in the scriptures, but she is able to break them down and make them understandable and relatable. I also liked the thought-provoking questions she asked at the end of each day for the reader to reflect on.
Thank you to B & H Publishing group and Netgalley for a copy of this book. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.
I enjoyed reading this devotional which was a combination of bible passages and devotions and, being my first Lisa Harper book, also a bit of getting to know Lisa. Her life has been amazing and has a lot of funny stories to go along with the sad. Each devotion begins with a Bible passage, then tells story about Lisa's life that she relates to the passage. Following each is a set of three questions for further study and contemplation. I would definitely recommend this book!
This devotional was not what I was expecting. For me it relies far too much on the author’s experiences and stories rather than on God. I get that Lisa’s trying to be relatable but it’s too much her and not enough Jesus. If this were simply a story about her life and where she finds Jesus in it. It would have been an awesome book. But it’s supposed to be a devotional. And a devotional’s purpose is to be the appetizer that beckons you deeper into your study of God’s Word. It should beckon your deeper into your fellowship with God.
I wanted to like this “devotional.” I think Lisa Harper is a great Bible teacher, but I’m not sure I’d count this as a devotional. It’s fun and light. But not spiritual food. Sorry.
Great stories. I only read a month,s worth but plan on buying a copy. Beautifully written very inspiring. Love it.
I loved this book. It's so worth the read. The author is very personable and relatable. She has a great sense of humor and knows how to word things just right. I would highly recommend this book and plan on telling my friends and family about it. It's an easy read and you can do one chapter a day just like a devotional. I feel like the author and I could be good friends in real life with the way she relates to me through her writing.
